Dear Dancers,
W
e warmly welcome you to join
us this June in the Oregon
Cascades near the town of
Sisters for our 26th annual Heather and
Rose Dance Camp. Come experience
forming sets as individuals and using
gender-free, global terminology if you’re
unfamiliar with these traditions.
This year we’ll have a “Conversation
with Bruce” where Bruce Hamilton, our
really terrific teacher, will answer preselected questions submitted to him by
us. So please include any dance related
questions with your registration for his
consideration to address in that session.
The Saturday Ball program, with which
Bruce helped, may not look entirely
familiar but promises to be quite
accessible. The ball review will include
the slightly more challenging dances.
We look forward to dancing together!

Bruce Hamilton, a master of the art, has 30 years of
experience as a thoughtful and energetic teacher of English
and Scottish country dancing, focusing on skills that apply
across all dances: moving well, musicality in dancing, how
to recover from mistakes, and the social and mental aspects
of dancing.
Musicians
Betsy Branch has been a mainstay of Portland’s English
and contra dance community for many years. Her
exuberant fiddling has delighted dancers on both coasts.
Her enthusiasm and playfulness are infectious, and we are
always happy to have her play for us, along with…
Lisa Scott, whose sensitivity to dance rhythms and lyrical
style have made her piano music a joy for dancers, ideally
suited to both English and Scottish forms.
Bill Tomczak has been playing folk dance clarinet for
nearly 40 years. Since moving to Portland, he plays
regularly for country and contra dances on clarinet, tenor
saxophone and percussion.
The Staff
Ann Johnson is a gourmet cook who can feed a crowd
with extraordinarily good food.
Katherine Bragg, licensed massage therapist, effectively
uses selected techniques from new and old traditions for
pain relief and relaxation. Sign up early for a massage.
Childcare is available at camp at no cost to our dancers.
Please let us know your childcare needs early.
