WOODHOUSE LANE LEISURE PARK, HEDGE END, SOUTHAMPTON, SO30 2EZ COACHING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY 2015 Hedge End Town Council, together with key partners including the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Hampshire and IOW Lawn Tennis Association , Eastleigh Borough Council and the Hampshire Playing Fields Association have invested in the renovation of three full-size porous macadam tennis courts at the very popular Woodhouse Lane Leisure Park. The 3 Woodhouse Lane tennis courts are situated in the middle of an attractive park with the added convenience of a clubhouse and ample parking. The facility is in close proximity to Hedge End Village Centre, Botley and Boorley Green and is easily accessible to all. The tennis courts have been used on a periodic and seasonal basis in years gone by and a number of local groups have engaged with the courts in the past. The courts have proved to be very popular and it is hoped that as a result of the significant investment and proposed changes to the management and administration of the courts, this will herald a watershed in tennis delivery for this community. Hedge End is a vibrant and popular town with a population of approximately 23,000 people and future expansion is planned. The area is well-served by the exceptional 1,800 pupil intake of Wildern School and four primary schools offering the opportunity to deliver a structured tennis coaching outreach programme to a large number of young people. To be considered applicants must: Be willing to work on a self-employed basis contracted to the Town Council with a Service Level Agreement; Hold an LTA licence at a minimum of Senior Club Coach Level 4 qualification (High Quality Level 3 Club Coaches with ambition will be considered), have the usual liability insurance, hold first aid certification, and have a current DBS certificate. Play at a high standard of tennis The successful applicant must adhere to as many of the following person specifications: Ambitious in developing a tennis business on a community site. Enthusiastic and passionate for the game of tennis and its development in the community. Management skills in relation to a coaching team. Self-motivated to run the coaching business. Meeting, Presentation, Financial and record keeping experience. Excellent interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with the Town Council and project partners, education sector and local businesses and community organisations. The successful applicant will be expected to (not exhaustive): Set up, develop, manage and promote tennis programmes for all age group and abilities including links to local schools (therefore existing experience in doing so will be considered an advantage). Develop competitive tennis across all abilities. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will include: Number of individuals attending weekly coaching sessions. Number of school links and links to community organisations. Referrals or direct impact on sale of access keys to the courts. Attendances at mass participation events and promotional activities. Financial Package The contract to coach / coach provider will be for a minimum of 3 years (with annual reviews) with option to extend at the end of that period. The package includes a £1,750 annual fee to Hedge End Town Council to allow the successful coach exclusivity to build up a sustainable coaching business at the club.
