Parent Voice Feedback 2014-2015

Parent survey
I love how the school stamps out bullying or
problems immediately and listens to both sides of
the story. Brilliant school.’
Parent comment 2015
Thank-you to those parents that took part in our
bi-annual quality assurance survey. The survey was
undertaken by the highest number of parents since
we started to use this survey method in 2009. 327
responses were returned which is over one-third of
the school population. We are delighted that 99% of
you would or have already recommended our school
to another parent.
Parental satisfaction overall was rated as 87.1%. This
is an increase from the 2013 survey of 0.3%. Also,
from the last survey 1.6% of the responses from
parents were rated as ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’. In this
survey that figure was 0%. The highest number of
parents to ever take the survey thought that the
provision for their child was at the very least, ‘good’.
(An overview of the results are in the table
opposite.)
During the coming academic year we aim to
concentrate our efforts into the three areas that
have been judged as ‘good’ rather than ‘outstanding’
by parents, these are: home-school communication,
homework and careers advice.
High quality home-school communication is
essential for a strong partnership between home
and school. We need to work together to support
your child in all aspects of their journey through high
school. With this in mind, we will be reviewing our
current methods of communication in order to
enhance this particular facet of our daily practice.
As regards homework we have begun a review of
homework provision and will continue this work into
the next academic year.
We have also continued to extend our careers advice
programme to students across the age ranges. Once
again this year we invited a large number of employers and college representatives in to school for our
careers event in March. Also Y9 and Y10 have been
involved in careers activities during their annual

In this survey parents were asked a ‘unique’ question,
‘Do you feel that the school should be active in promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing’? 81% said yes. Since the survey we have been
awarded the gold standard for Mental Health in
Schools by the local authority. However, this will continue to be an important focus for us next academic
year.
Thank-you for your continuing support for your child
and the work of the school. The positive feedback we
have received from parents is illustrated in the
following comments.
Miss J McGoran.
‘Fantastic school with a brilliant ethos. Fantastic
for kids with SEN, my child’s improvement is
amazing. Thank you.’
Parent comment 2015
Hawkley Hall High School has not only met, but surpassed our expectations, in their support, care and
teaching of our son; so much so that we actively encouraged our daughter to consider the school despite it being out of area when it came to her turn, despite having 5 or 6 other high schools within area.
We are very pleased with the progress our daughter has made over
the years at Hawkley Hall. The staff
have always been supportive and
helpful.
My daughter’s confidence
has grown since she has
been put in classes with
people of the same ability.
She enjoys school and
wants to learn which is
down to the atmosphere that
staff create. Any problems
with bullying have been
dealt with promptly making
her feel safe whilst in school
and happy to be able to
speak to staff if needed. We
are more than happy with
the educational and social
experiences she is gaining.
My daughter is happy and
doing well thanks to the staff
at Hawkley Hall. Teachers
are friendly and helpful and
I’m sure my youngest
daughter will also enjoy high
school when she attends
next September.
Excellent school. So happy I
sent my son to Hawkley Hall
High School.
Very happy and would like to say
‘Thank you’ to all the staff who
have worked with my children.
