The Highland County Arts Council presents
Wonky Summer Celebration!! -- Drama, Art, Music and Dance
Summer 2015 will be an exciting camp year featuring three different recipes for fun, creativity, collaboration, friendship and performance.
Camp is a great way to enjoy in the summer and to make new friends. We work hard on our projects but still take a lot of time to have fun. Spend a week or two to explore something different or to spend a little more time doing something you love.
Please read on to find specific information about each session.
DRAMA CAMP--WILLY WONKA
June 2226 (performances June 26 & 27)
Hours 93:30 at Highland Elementary Myers Moon Road, Monterey
Cost: $75/camper or $140/family plus
one script/camper at $10
Campers bring their own lunch. An afternoon snack of cheese & crackers is provided
The famous, mysterious Willy Wonka hides five golden tickets somewhere in the vast number of candy bars he sells every day. Who will the lucky five ticket holders be? Charlie Bucket dreams of winning, but his odds are terrible when children all over the world are buying millions of candy bars.
All campers will join together to create the twoact musical that tells the story of Willy and his plan. All campers do art (including costumes,) music, drama and dance, although you can choose two activities in which to specialize.
In addition, we will have a script readthrough on Saturday, June 20th in the Mountain View Room of the library. This is particularly helpful for firsttime campers. A reading parent is encouraged to attend with younger campers.
Will be casting three characters early: Willy (or Willi), Charlie (or Charli) and
Grandpa Joe. Auditions for these parts will be held June 4 and 5 at The Highland Inn at 3:45. (You only need to come to one session.) These characters will rehearse during the two weeks before camp starts.
Scripts and CD's will be available after June 5th. Highland county campers may pick up scripts and CD's at the public library or school. They will be mailed to campers who can't pick them up. FACULTY: Caroline Smith, Robin Smith, Anna Gregory, Heather Scott, Lori Botkin, Cora Rhodes and Tracy Chapman, assistant.
DRAMA CAMP ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED TO 40 CAMPERS. PLEASE SEND
YOUR APPLICATIONS IN QUICKLY!!!!

Arts Camp...PURE IMAGINATION!!
Check it out!
What's in your mind??
Arts camp allows students to explore art, dance, and acting without the pressure of completing an entire show. This is a good time to try something new in your life! Please take a few minutes to decide where you would like to spend most of your time and mark your favorite activity on the application. Campers will use different types of art, sketches and stories to explore the world of their own and other artist's imaginations. How do they think of those things? You'll find out, for sure!
The camp day runs from 91 and is held at Highland Elementary School. Tuition for camp is $60 per student up to $115 per family. Tuition includes all materials used at camp. Campers need to bring their own lunch.
FACULTY: Chris Scott (drama,) Anna Gregory (dance,) Heather Scott (art,) and Tracy Chapman, assistant.
Strings Program
Novices to experienced musicians can "vibrate" with excitement
while learning to play violin, viola, cello or bass instruments!
There are lots of options with this program, which runs concurrently with both
camps. (1) Students can sign up for strings only. This program would be a two
week, once a day session with Gretta Sandberg. (2) Students can sign up for strings
as part of either or both camp sessions. Campers signing up for only one session
would then have another week of strings lessons.
(The attached flyer has all the details.)
How does all of this WORK? Campers can choose to attend drama camp, but
not any of the other camps. OR, they can choose the arts camp by itself, OR the strings camp by itself… OR, they can choose all three! Summer is HOT, camp is COOL. Because camp is so COOL, you must register by May 22nd. If
you need more information about drama or arts camp, call Caroline Smith at 540 4992879 (e
mail [email protected]) Please call Gretta Sandberg at 540 4682769 (e
mail [email protected]) for information about arts camp and the strings program.
