Field Trip with AVID Date: Saturday, May 23 7:15 am to 7:30 pm Cost: $30 (cash or check made payable to LPMS) All money and permission slips (2) due NO LATER than May 7th @ 3PM! We have a field trip for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade AVID students to Wet ‘n Wild located at 6200 International Drive in Orlando, Florida on SATURDAY, MAY 23. Students will ride a school bus to the park. Students need to meet at the flagpole in front of the office no later than 7:15am. We will leave promptly at 7:30am and will arrive back close to 7:30pm. The park is open from 10am to 6pm. We are planning on leaving the park at 5:15 and pulling out of the parking lot at 5:30pm. STUDENTS WILL BE IN BOYS ONLY AND GIRLS ONLY GROUPS ALL DAY LONG. Students will need to bring money in order to get drinks and eat lunch and a snack/early dinner at the park. (We will not be stopping the bus for dinner.) The following are the names of the restaurants at the park: Surf Grill, Manny’s Pizza & Subs, Bubba’s Fried Chicken, George's Famous Ice Cream and Carnival Treats. Lockers and towels are available to rent for a nominal fee. Tubes are free. Wet ‘N Wild policies: T-shirts are allowed to be worn in the park and on most of the rides. Tshirts are prohibited on single person thrill rides such as The Bomb Bay, Der Stuka or Storm. Cover-ups and board shorts are allowed in the park and on most of the rides. Please note that cut-offs or items with metal fasteners, rivets, zippers and buckles are prohibited. Please make sure that your child brings sunscreen to apply multiple times throughout the day. Students will be instructed to call parents/guardians when we get to Avon Park. Please be on time picking up your student as Ms. Young has a Relay for Life obligation after 7:45pm. The gate will most likely not be open, so you will need to park in the grass or along the sides of the road. Please allow enough room for the bus to get into the parking lot upon our arrival. If you are interested in chaperoning, you must be a level 2 volunteer. Please see the following website if you have any questions: https://www.highlands.k12.fl.us/SBHC/HR_VolunteerInfo.html You can also e-mail Ms. Young at [email protected] and let me know if you are interested in chaperoning. The number of chaperones depends on the number of students attending. Checklist of items to bring: Bathing suit Sunscreen (apply multiple times throughout the day!) Money for food, drinks, ice cream, souvenirs, etc. Hat or Visor (if you wear them) Towel Change of clothes for the bus (you can wear your bathing suit on the bus, just make sure you have clothes on over it.) Device you can be responsible for all day (Ms. Young would advise splitting a locker with friends ) Anything else you absolutely must have. Looking forward to having a BLAST with this great group of students!
