Grazalema to Montejaque Walking - Moderate This walk takes us cross country between two white villages, exploring the varied terrain and landscape of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park on our way. Grazalema, where we begin, was formerly one of the wealthiest, and thus grandest, of the rural white villages and is one of the few which still holds an annual bull running festival. Montejaque, where we finish, is an old Berber village, set high in a rocky niche, hidden from view until you are almost upon it. In between, we spend time in the Hundidero valley, walking along mountain pathways and old drovers’ routes, through holm oak forests and along a river valley, enjoying a succession of beautiful views all the way. Stop for refreshments in Montejaque and visit the mirador “viewpoint” at the top of the village, reputedly the site of an Arab fort…though nothing remains of it.
