The solemnity of today’s readings invites us into silent
contemplation of the mystery of our redemption. There are so many
levels on which to understand the events of the Passion. The woman
who anoints Jesus acts prophetically in a way that the other disciples
do not yet grasp. Anointing is for priests, prophets, and kings, and
also for the preparation of the dead. It is for healing and for holiness.
Her action acknowledges the imminent events of the passion and
death of the Lord, and points toward his resurrection and triumph
over evil and death. He is priest and victim, prophet and God, King
and Lord. All these things are acknowledged in her prophetic
anointing.

***Seder Meal***
The Passover Seder is a Jewish ritual feast that marks the beginning
of the Jewish Holiday of Passover. The Seder is held on the evening of
the 14th day of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar late March or April.
Seder is an intergenerational family ritual prescribed according to the
Jewish Law and based on the interpretation of the Biblical verse
commanding Jews to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt:
Traditionally, families and friends gather in the evening to read the text
of the Haggadah, and ancient work derived from the Seder service
prescribed by the Jewish ceremonial law, including the narrative of the
Israelite exodus from Egypt, special blessings and rituals,
commentaries from the Talmud, and special Passover songs. Seder
customs include drinking of four cups of wine, eating matza and
partaking of symbolic foods placed on the Passover Seder Plate.
Holy Cross Parish will have a Seder Meal on Wednesday, April 1st at
6:30PM in the Yvonne Anne Adams Life Center. Everyone is invited.
A meal will be provided.
The Easter Triddum

Easter Vigil
The general instruction of the Roman Missal state: “In accord
with the ancient tradition, this night in one of the vigil of the
Lord. It is a reminder to the men and woman awaiting their
master return.” The entire Celebration of the Easter Vigil takes
place at night. It should not begin before night fall and should
end before daybreak. It is in this spirit that Holy Cross and all
the parishes of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux will celebrate
the Easter Vigil at 8:00PM. We encourage everyone to join us
for this beautiful celebration. We also remind everyone
that this service will last at least two hours and we
further ask that small children not attend due to the
length of this service.
