Project Manager Job Briefing Pack Location: HOME Manchester with travel across the UK a requirement-­‐ Reports to: Film Hub Development Manager, Film Hub North West Central Fee: £6,000 Application Deadline midday Monday 23rd March 2015, interviews will take place in Manchester on Wednesday 8th April 2015. The role requires a minimum of 40 days to be worked. This is a freelance temporary contract in respect of the 2015 event delivery. There may be an opportunity to re-­‐contract for delivery of the 2016 and 2017 events. Background As part of its ‘Film Forever’ 5 year plan the British Film Institute (BFI) has established the Film Audience Network (FAN). The network comprises of 9 regional Film Hubs each of which are developing a network of organisations who make a commitment to increasing the variety and amount of specialised and British films on offer for audiences and to developing the diversity of those audiences. Film Hub North West Central (FHNWC), Film Hub Scotland (FHS) and Film Hub North (FHN) are working together to present an annual conference event for Hub members and other representatives from the film exhibition industry. The event is This Way Up: Exhibition Innovation Conference (TWU) and is an opportunity for the sector to come together to discuss and debate the key questions facing our industry. TWU is a space for business to be done and best practice to be shared, it may offer screenings of films exhibitors may wish to book, learning and training opportunities and importantly will provide networking and development opportunities for the sector. The event will take place in early December 2015 at HOME Manchester and will subsequently take place in 2016 and 2017 at locations tbc in the Scottish Hub and North Hub regions. It brings together between 2-­‐300 regional film exhibitors, education professionals, film distributors, funders and other stakeholders. The geography covered by the three hubs incorporates all of Scotland, Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne and Wear, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire. Key Deliverables/Accountabilities These include but are not limited to: • work with Hub staff and the venue to construct an appropriate timetable for the event • contracting and managing the attendance of speakers, and other contributors to provide services for the programme • contracting and managing service providers for the event • managing all communication with speakers, delegates and partners • managing / coordinating any intern, apprentice or volunteer staff recruited to help deliver the event • delivery of conference materials for delegates including coordination of design and print of event literature • with Hub staff -­‐ selling advertising opportunities for delegate bag inserts, market stalls, sponsorship • with Hub staff -­‐ properly advertising and marketing the event to attract delegates from the hub membership and wider industry •

with Hub staff -­‐ administrate delegate enquiries, take delegate payments, register delegates at the event with Hub staff -­‐ administrate the allocation of delegate choices in attending training and other limited capacity sessions film print (DCP) coordination in liaison with film distributors Maintain and update the conference website and social media in liaison with TWU key staff Keep accurate financial records, reporting on the budget regularly to the TWU team liaising with the venue tech and conferencing teams to ensure a high standard of presentation of all sessions and events across the dates. Undertake a comprehensive risk assessment for the event Work with the hub staff during the conference to delivery a highly quality event To be flexible and to undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the hub teams To understand the BFI Film Forever strategy, the FAN and the three hubs vision and business plans for their respective regions in order to communicate effectively with stakeholders, hub members and other interested parties about the event.
