The Orchardist is the official fruit industry
publication of Horticulture New Zealand and
reaches all commercial fruit growers in the
country.
The Orchardist is the only monthly pan-industry publication for the fruit
industry in New Zealand. It reaches all fruit growers, of kiwifruit to citrus,
avocados to summerfruit to pipfruit and tamarillos.
Experts, researchers and growers who all have a sound, in-depth technical
knowledge of their industry write our content. It is seasonally appropriate
and offers orchardists valuable advice across a broad range of growing
topics.
New Zealand’s fresh fruit exports total $1.53b (2013) and exported fruit
preparations $29.5m. Our main exports are kiwifruit, apples and avocados.

Northland orchardist Patrick Malley has made an impact in a
short time since taking on a full-time role in the horticulture
industry. Less than three years after joining his family’s
orchard business he won the 2014 Young Grower of the Year
competition. He then went on to win the prestigious Young
Horticulturist of the Year competition which includes all
horticulture, including wine growers.
NZGrower, also published by Horticulture New Zealand, is the
sister publication of The Orchardist. It reaches all commercial
vegetable and berryfruit growers in New Zealand.
