JOB OPENING
Hotel de Paris Museum, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is hiring for its docent/visitor
services position. Docent/visitor services personnel engage the public and further the museum’s mission
to collect, preserve, and share history associated with Louis Dupuy’s Hotel de Paris, and serve as a
catalyst for heritage tourism in Georgetown, Colorado. The site has been owned and operated by The
National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Colorado since 1954.
Applicants must have an interest in and aptitude for customer service and the ability to interact in a
welcoming and helpful manner with diverse audiences of varying cultural backgrounds, ages, and
abilities.
Position Overview
Seasonal position combining tour and admissions duties; daily May-September; weekends-only Octobermid-December. Weekends and some holidays. Workdays are typically 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
$9.00/hour. No benefits. Hotel de Paris Museum is a smoke- and drug-free environment. Equal

Under the direction of the Museum Director, Docents lead interpretive tours of the museum.
Docents provide a factual and engaging guided tour experience for all of Hotel de Paris Museum’s tour
attendees. Docents are responsible for the security and well-being of the museum’s artifact collection,
historic site, guests, and museum volunteers. Responsibilities include sharing the mission of Hotel de
Paris Museum with visitors, conducting scheduled tours, and directing visitors through the site.
Under the direction of the Museum Director, Visitor services staff the admissions area of the museum.
Visitor services personnel provide a welcoming environment and excellent experience for all of Hotel de
Paris Museum’s visitors, and oversees the admissions area. Responsibilities include sharing the mission
of Hotel de Paris Museum with visitors, revenue handling, and retail sales (including figuring tax, figuring
discounts, processing credit cards, and making change). Other duties would include answering basic
questions; stocking the gift shop and publicity materials; answering the telephone; taking messages;
merchandising; and general cleaning of the admissions area.
