Visit myhousing.unc.edu and click the “Single-Sign-In” link and login with your ONYEN and ONYEN password. 2. Click on Application in the top navigation bar. 3. Under Term Selector, choose Academic Year 2015-2016. 4. At the top right corner of the page, click on “Application Status and Assignment Details”. 5. Scroll to “Room Reservation Details” to see your assignment and “Roommate Details” to see name and email contact information for your roommate and suitemates. If a roommate is not yet indicated, please periodically check back, as contact information will appear once a roommate has been assigned. How will I be billed for housing? The Office of Student Accounts and University Receivables will issue your bill for Housing. July 1–July 31 is our Room Refinement Period, and you can make your own changes to your roommate and room assignments at myhousing.unc.edu. Look for a new page titled “Room Selection” and a link titled “Room Swap” to browse available rooms. From August 1 until after the first two weeks of the semester, room changes will be frozen. Keep these tips in mind on move-in day! 99 Mid-August is typically very hot in Chapel Hill, so dress for comfort on move-in day. 99 Vehicles have a 40-minute time limit to unload at the curb, but you can take all the time you need to move everything to your room once your vehicle has been moved. 99 Depending on the location and time, there may be some student organizations on-hand to help lift heavy objects. Look for them! 99 Room keys typically come without a keychain, so bring an extra one. 99 Keys can be picked up in the lobby of your building or in the community office if your community has multiple buildings. 99 Elevator courtesy is essential on move-in day. Do not leave the elevator door blocked at any point and time. 99 If you are unsure how to set up your room, consider visiting housing.unc.edu for floor plans of your residence hall. 99 As you move in, seek out the Week of Welcome brochure, which contains info about clubs and other campus resources. 8 housing.unc.edu when can i move in? Your move-in day and time depends on where you are living. Use the chart on page 9 to determine your suggested arrival date and time for move-in. Adhering to your recommended move-in date and time will assist with managing the heavy flow of traffic into campus. However, if you need to arrive earlier or later than the date and time suggested for you, it is not necessary to notify us. We unfortunately cannot accommodate arrivals prior to Wednesday, August 12, 2015. If you will be arriving after the first day of class, you’ll need to notify Housing in writing. The University has no legal obligation to pay for loss or damage to items of personal property caused by residents or by occurrences such as flood, weather, or mechanical-related events which occur in University Housing or on its grounds prior to, during, or subsequent to the period of the housing contract. Residents are encouraged to carry appropriate insurance to cover such losses. should i get insurance f o r m y b e lo n g i n g s ? We strongly encourage you to invest in additional property insurance for your student’s belongings. UNC-Chapel Hill does not endorse any individual insurance program, but does encourage parents and students to make sure they have the protection they desire for student property. You may have homeowners insurance; however, not all homeowner’s policies cover everything students bring to school. Most will provide some coverage, but have limitations on certain property. You should check with your insurance agent to determine what is and what is not covered under your policy and what the deductibles are for property away from your principal residence. Drive directly to the building where you have been assigned. Use the campus map on Pages 10-11 for reference. Attendants will assist you with directions to the appropriate loading zone or staging area. 3. You will have 40 minutes to unload your vehicle at the curb with the help of student volunteer organizations. After 40 minutes, you will need to park your vehicle in a nearby lot as directed by the parking attendants. Please help us provide quick access parking for as many people as possible by respecting this time limit. 4. To find your mailing address, go to housing.unc.edu, scroll to bottom and click on “What’s My Address?” Always include your room/apartment number in your mailing address. Letter mail will be delivered to your mailbox in your community. Packages will be delivered to Morrison or Spencer Package Center, depending upon where you live. You will receive email from Housing when a package is available for pick up. Always address mail and packages to your residence hall address (not to the package center). Letter mail delivery begins August 18, 2015. If you plan to ship packages before you arrive, be sure to schedule delivery for August 10, 2015, or later. Remember to wait for an email from Housing before trying to pick up a package at the package center. I s t h e r e h o u s e k e e p i n g ava i l a b l e to c l e a n m y r o o m ? You will be responsible for the cleanliness of your own room, disposing of trash and leaving all public areas in clean condition. The housekeeping staff will clean the public areas as well as the hall/suite bathrooms. Exception: Residents of Craige North, Hardin, Koury, Horton, Morrison super-suites, Odum Village, and Ram Village must clean their own bathroom and provide toilet paper since housekeeping staff cannot access the suite bathroom in those buildings. w h e r e c a n i d o m y l au n d r y ? Laundry facilities are located either in your residence hall or in a neighboring building in your residential community. If you bring your bike, you should register it for free with the Department of Public Safety at dps.unc.edu to deter theft and aid in identification if your bike is ever lost or stolen. We also recommend that you purchase a quality U-lock to secure your bicycle to exterior racks which are located outside every residence hall.
