PHYSICAL LITERACY CONSENSUS STATEMENT – INPUT NEEDED
A Physical Literacy Consensus Statement for Canada is in development for release in
June. You can give input until Friday, April 24 by completing this survey.
Excitement around the emergence of physical literacy has led to a variety of definitions,
and sometimes a misuse of the concept by using it interchangeably with terms such as
‘physical activity’, ‘physical education’, ‘fundamental movement skills’ or ‘motor skill
development’. The team seeks input from practitioners and researchers whose work is
in some way connected with physical literacy and/or the promotion of physical activity,
sport and recreation.
This Consensus Statement presents a definition of physical literacy as well as a
description of the elements of the definition. The survey asks about clarity, level of
agreement and perceived importance. A summary of findings will be available at
ParticipACTION. Dr. Mark Tremblay of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)
is the lead researcher.
3.
LONGEST DAY OF PLAY
June 21 isn’t only the longest day of daylight, it’s also the Longest Day of Play.
