MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATION:
Dear Parents,
It has been another busy week in the High School. Last Saturday Prom 2015 was an outstanding success.
The juniors and seniors were very mature and almost unrecognizable in their Prom gowns and suits. This
week we also hosted the ISM Film Festival and the annual 100% Dance Company showcase. Please make
sure you check out the calendar of upcoming events as we continue through into May and June.
The seniors will finish their regular classes at 11:30am on Tuesday, April 28. After the Senior BBQ pot
luck lunch, they will be allowed to depart the ISM campus to begin studying for the high stakes IB exams,
which begin on Monday May 4th. If you have a senior in your household please give them extra TLC over
the coming month. Of course lots of review is essential, but so are a good night’s sleep and the right
nutrition.
Speaking about exams, the grade 11 exams are the week of May 11-15 and the grade 9 and 10 exams will
be on May 13-15. At ISM, we deliberately and by design, run our exams much earlier than many schools.
This is because after review of the available literature on summative assessments, we came to the
conclusion that end of semester, or end of year exams can be tremendously more effective, if we
actually use them as a learning experience, rather than being the end of learning itself. To be more
effective there must be quality feedback about the learning that occurred before, during and after the
exam. Having the exams in the middle of May facilitates this, and also allows the teachers to be
innovative and creative with the classes and assessments after the exams. Juniors find this time very
important as the IB teachers have finished with their seniors and can give exclusive attention to the
juniors for the final three weeks of the year. With this in mind, please do not ask to pull your son or
daughter out of school early, as we plan to work right through until the half day release at the end of
school on Thursday, June 4th.
MAP test results for grade 9 and 10 students will be sent home on Monday. If you have any questions
please do not hesitate to contact the HS Office.
Please remember last week’s important message from Mr. Toze about the necessity to re-enroll before
May 22nd.
Kind regards,
William R.S. Brown
High School Principal

FROM THE CLINIC:
Tetanus (Lockjaw) Vaccination
Tetanus (Lockjaw) is caused by the Clostridium
Bacterium. Their spores are resistant permanent
forms which are found worldwide in garden soil or
dust.
TIME TO SIGN UP FOR THE 2015
VACCINATIONS:
Tetanus (Tdap) Vaccine ADACEL (Sanofi-Pasteur)
Cost: 1,000.00 Php
Influenza Vaccine Fluzone Quadrivalent (SanofiPasteur) To be confirmed
The disease causes painful tightening of the
Cost: TBA
muscles, usually all over the body. It can lead to
"locking" of the jaw so the victim cannot open his
mouth or swallow. Tetanus leads to death in 50% or
more of all cases.
As a teen or adult, do I need this vaccine?
Everyone needs protection from tetanus. If you
have not had a booster shot in 10 years or more,
you should receive a tetanus shot. However, you
should get the Tdap vaccine (the tetanus booster
that also protects against pertussis) as soon as
possible if you have not yet received it. You can
get Tdap no matter when you last got a Td booster
shot.
It is good practice and clinic routine to give a
booster shot without delay after the slightest
scratch acquired outdoor, if the person is not
protected. This can be quite disruptive if travelling.
Smaller hospitals outside the NCR often do not
carry the vaccine.
College freshmen are generally required to have an
updated immunization record.
While all our young students are protected - since
the vaccination is a school requirement - students
aged 16 years and older, teachers and parents
may need a booster to be protected for another ten
years.
What are the risks from Td vaccine?
With any medicine, including vaccines, there is a
chance of side effects. These are usually mild and go
away on their own. Serious reactions are also
possible but are rare.
With information from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and
Robert Koch Institute (RKI)
Vaccination Day –Wednesday, May 27
Last day to sign up/pay – Wednesday, May 20
To be protected against tetanus it needs a booster every 10
years, after completing a series of 5 shots during childhood.
You should get the Tdap vaccine (the tetanus booster that
also protects against pertussis) in any case as soon as
possible if you have not yet received it.
Everyone with a valid ISM ID, teachers and their children
may participate in this vaccination session. Please complete
the vaccination payment form (available at the Cashier
office and the Clinic) and make your payment to the
Cashier (open Mo – Fr 7:00am – 3:15 pm). Payment must
be made not later than Wednesday, May 20. The vaccines
will then be ordered and no further registrations can be
accepted.
Fill in and sign one Tetanus Vaccination Consent Form per
person (available for download from the ISM website or at
the clinic) and present both documents on the vaccination
date.
If you have any questions please contact Jowell Custodio or
Dorothee Binsfeld at the clinic:
Clinic numbers: 840 85-81 (Dorothee) / -82 (Jowell)
Email: [email protected]
Please note:
 Pregnant women may be vaccinated
 Please refrain in case of egg protein allergy.
 Vaccines will be solely administered at the clinic and
cannot be handed out. All unused vaccines will be
forfeited.

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON RE-ENROLLMENT
FOR SY 2015-2016
Dear Parents,
Dear Parents:
I do want to remind you of the importance of
completing the registration process for your
children before the deadline date of May 22nd.
PowerSchool closes on that date, and our
assumption will be that a student who has not
registered by then is leaving at the end of the
school year. We have many applicants at
every Grade level on our Waiting List, and on
May 25th we shall begin the process of
offering all available slots. As I am sure you
understand, for those people relocating to the
Philippines, their plans are on hold unless and
until they have guaranteed places in school for
their children.
We will begin on-line Re-enrollment for school year
2015-16 on Monday, March 16. As before, parents will
have to log into PowerSchool in order to do this. Below
are instructions to help. If you are not sure of your
PowerSchool log-in or need support, please contact
your school office.
If you know already that you are departing in
June, please inform Admissions of this as soon
as possible. By doing so, you are making life
much easier for incoming families. The
deadline for informing us of your planned
departure is May 22nd. Please note that past
practice is that those who let us know they
are leaving after this date will forfeit $1000
of their Facilities Upgrade Deposit.
Step 2: Look for the Re-enrollment Clearance icon on
the left hand panel. Click on the icon.
The school year is galloping toward the
finishing line, and we are looking forward to
examinations, performances and graduations.
I hope these next seven weeks bring your
children all that they hope for.
Best wishes,
David Toze
Please note that you must complete re-enrollment
by May 22nd at the latest. PowerSchool will close on
that date until the start of the new school year. We have
over 500 students on our waitlist, and we will assume
that your children are leaving if you have not completed
the re-enrollment process.
Step 1: Log-in to PowerSchool
Step 3: Create your Re-enrollment Clearance Form.
You will receive an email notification verifying that you
have been successful updating your child’s record.
Students entering Grade 9 will be required to
download and complete the Physical Examination Form
(including ECG results) which should be submitted to
the ISM Health Clinic and the Drug Policy Form which
should be submitted to the HS Office.
Step 4: Tuition and Fees: Please settle your accounts
through our Cashier’s Office.
You must settle your accounts for SY14-15 and pay the
first quota of tuition fees for SY15-16 to receive your
Final Clearance Notification for your child to attend
class on August 6, 2015.
Re-enrollment must be complete in order to receive a
student’s Class Schedule.
Class Schedule distribution dates are as follows:
August 03, 2015: Grade 9 and 10
August 04, 2015: Grade 11 and 12
