A Five Day Workshop on QualitativeResearchMethodsinSocialSciences 21-25 July 2015 Organized by Institute of Development Studies Kolkata Qualitative research is increasingly gaining importance across variety of disciplines in the social sciences and in the Humanities. The five day workshop focuses on epistemological foundation of Qualitative social research and the principal qualitative research methods which the paradigms dictate. These include ethnography, case study, discourse analysis, visual method, textual analysis, oral histories, personal documents, semiotics and use of archives. This workshop is suitable for those who are engaged in social research or who intend to do research using qualitative methods. The workshop is aimed at a wide variety of participants including young researchers engaged in their PhD research, young faculty members in colleges, universities and research institutions, people in non‐governmental organizations who want to use qualitative methods in their research or to gain a further understanding of the practical application of particular methods. The five day workshop is scheduled to be held from 21st July 2015 to 25th July 2015 at the Conference Hall of Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK). The number of participants would be thirty five. Registration Fee will be Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only. Outstation participants will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. Tea and lunch will be provided by IDSK on all five days of the workshop. Candidates, who have attended the previous course, need not apply again. The short listed participants will be informed on 3rd July 2015 through our website.
