Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
As your elected board, we are excited to bring back
to you the Grand Oaks Newsletter as a quarterly
amenity.

is the OFFICIAL website of our community and the
source of all current and up-to-date information, this
newsletter will provide you with helpful hints, useful
contact information, and points of interest about our
community.
Over the last year, your Board has worked diligently
to ensure the safety of our residents and their families
by upgrading our playground and the basketball
courts.
We have worked equally as hard to improve the
appearance of our community in several aspects
including the resurfacing of our pools, new exercise
equipment and window film in the workout room, the
replacement or repainting of many of the electrical
transformer boxes throughout the neighborhood, and,
of course, the constant attention to our greenways
and flowers. We hope that you agree that through
the winter months, the Grand Oaks community has
enjoyed one of the prettiest landscapes in the county.
Of course, all of our efforts are intended for the
betterment of our community as a whole. To that
end, we always encourage your participation in our
efforts. We were elected to serve you, our members
– but we will only be as effective as the input,
feedback, and participation that you provide to us.
Please watch the Grand Oaks sign board on the
corner of Gildersleeve and Grand Oaks Boulevard
and the bulletin board outside our Clubhouse for
important information regarding upcoming
community events and meetings. If you have any
suggestions or comments in the meantime, please
don’t hesitate to reach out to Mike Spall, our
Community Association Manager, who keeps an
office at our Clubhouse.

Friendly Reminders. . . .
Our community is the responsibility of everyone. To keep our community safe and
beautiful, here are some friendly reminders:
--Yards-- Keep your lawns neatly trimmed. If you have a tree that is growing
towards the sidewalk, please trim it back away from the sidewalk so others can walk
safely on the sidewalk. If your tree is dropping leaves or berries onto the sidewalk,
please sweep the area so others can walk safely.
--Pets-- Please walk your pets on a leash--not everyone knows your dog and may be
concerned if they see a dog off leash. Pick up after your dog if they leave a “present”
behind. There are several new dog clean up stations for your convenience located
throughout our community.
--Children in the Clubhouse-- Children under 18 years old are to be supervised by
an adult when visiting our clubhouse, swimming pool areas, playground, and
basketball courts.
--Fireworks-- (yes, a reminder before 4th of July)--practice safety precautions--set
off your fireworks where they won’t endanger any others--especially keep children at
a safe distance, stage the fireworks in a safe area--if in the middle of the street, no
open fires present, and respect your neighbors by ending your fireworks at a time that
is good for everyone.
--Mailboxes-- To help keep them clean, mix a little bleach with water in a spray
bottle, spray on the mailbox, let dry.
--Parking-- Parking over/on the sidewalks or on the grass is not permitted at any
time.
--Street Parking-- Pasco County does not allow overnight street parking.

Association, Inc. You can access this portal by clicking on the link at the top of our
webpages or by going directly to http://www.greenacreproperties.com/index.asp and
then clicking on Resident Login at the top of the page.
By logging into this portal you will be able to access your personal account
information including your account balance. You will also be able to access
important Association documents such as current and past budgets and meeting
minutes.
Wi-Fi at the Clubhouse
We have wireless internet access at the clubhouse. Please be advised that this is an
unsecured network, so your device may be accessible by other users when you are
using the network.
Architectural Control Committee (ACC) Reminder
Any improvements that you would like to make on the outside of your home (i.e.,
painting, new roof, fence, pool, hot tub, landscaping, tree removal, new front door,
etc.) must be approved through the ACC (Architectural Control Committee). You
may get the application forms on the community website.

while older wood is free of injury. If in
doubt, delay pruning until new growth
appears to ensure that live wood is not
removed. Dead, unsightly leaves may be
removed as soon as they turn brown after a
freeze. Cold injury may appear as a lack of
spring bud break on a portion or all of the
plant, or as an overall weak appearance.
After a particularly harsh cold event, some
plants may be very slow to recover, so
some patience is required.

What to Do After A Freeze
Water Needs
Plant water needs should be checked after a
freeze. Plants may have lost substantial
moisture during a windy advective freeze.
Plants will transpire (lose water vapor) on a
sunny day after a freeze, but sometimes
their roots are too cold to function
normally. Water in the soil of containerized
plants can actually freeze and be
unavailable to roots. Apply water to allow
thawing, rehydration of plants, and dilution
of fertilizer salts that might otherwise burn
plant roots.
Pruning
Cold injured wood can be identified by
lightly scraping the bark with your
fingernail and examining the color of the
cambium layer (food conducting tissue) just
underneath. Green tissue indicates the plant
is still alive at that point; black or brown
coloration indicates dead or injured tissue.
