If you have any questions or comments about this new version, consult the “Before You Begin” section on page 3 for ways to contact the FedEx Help Desk for assistance. 2 Before You Begin Installing FedEx Ship Manager® Software V.2900 You must be running FedEx Ship Manager Software v.2605 or higher to upgrade to v.2900. During the installation of FedEx Ship Manager Software, turn off any virus protection or firewall programs on your PC. These programs may interfere with the installation. Close all other open files and programs and then install the software. The speed of v.2900, will make you more efficient, give you more confidence, and empower you when you ship. Signature Options Expansion allows you to select a desired signature option for international and domestic Canada shipments, similar to what’s available for U.S. domestic shipments. You will have the option of leaving the package without a signature, requiring a signature, or requiring an adult signature. FedEx Canada Standard Overnight is a new domestic Canada FedEx Express® service, offering a delivery by 5 p.m. next business day, or by 8 p.m. for residential shipments within Canada. Multiple FedEx Freight Enhancements will increase your shipping expertise by providing access to transit times for all LTL services, and give you the ability to delete and repeat daily shipments from your ship list or save an entire or partial shipment as a template for future shipping needs. New Features Guide v.2900 Customer Experience Enhancements include several updates: • A more intuitive approach to match your data with the FedEx Ship Manager® data fields in FedEx® Integration Assistant. • The ability to schedule a pickup, track the status of your package(s), and find FedEx locations using the fedex.com drop down menu. • Create a one-time return address. • Generate fully customizable labels and expand to all doctab labels. • Automatically check addresses for parcel shipments, and validate addresses for LTL freight and returns. 5 Signature Options Expansion Overview The expanded signature options offer you flexibility and convenience for your international letters and packages. The following signature options are now available to select international locations. No Signature Required (NSR): FedEx may release the package without anyone present. Indirect Signature Required (ISR): FedEx will obtain a signature in one of three ways: 1. From someone at the delivery address. 2. From a neighbor, building manager or other person at a neighboring address. 3. The recipient can authorize release of the package without anyone present. Direct Signature Required (DSR): FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address before releasing the shipment. Adult Signature Required (ASR): FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address who is at least the age of majority in the destination country. Note: The signature options can be found in the bottom left section of the Options tab. New Features Guide v.2900 6 Service Expansion Overview FedEx Ship Manager® v.2900 provides the option to ship with FedEx Express Standard Overnight within domestic Canada for non-freight shipments. Packages shipped and delivered within the next business day. FedEx Canada Standard Overnight will give you next business day delivery; example, ship on Wednesday and receive on Thursday. It’s a new domestic Canada FedEx Express® service, offering a delivery by 5 p.m. the next business day, or by 8 p.m. for residential shipments within Canada. FedEx Freight Enhancements Overview The freight enhancements will allow you to see transit times, integrate your data using FedEx® Integration Assistant and save time by repeating shipments from the Shipping List pull down, and not recreating your Bill Of Lading for each repeat shipment. Get Rates & Transit Times will now allow you to obtain rates and transit times for all available services. LTL Freight Shipment Templates allows you to create, save, or modify an entire or partially populated shipment template for future use. Note: This feature is located using the bottom navigation tabs under the LTL Freight tab. But once saved, you can easily select a saved template from the Origin/Destination tab to quickly auto-populate all fields saved in the template. Less Than Truckload (LTL) Freight Integration will give you the ability to integrate data for LTL freight shipments using FedEx Integration Assistant. •In FedEx Integration Assistant, you can create a profile specifically for LTL freight shipments. •When selecting a Lookup for Single and Single Edit profiles, users have the option to populate a new Order ID field on the Freight screen in FedEx Ship Manager or use the Lookup dialog. The Information, Match and Conversion screens are similar to those for Parcel profiles with fields specific for LTL freight. •You can map your data to fields on the Import Information screen to pass data through from import to export. This is data that never goes to the FedEx Ship Manager screen. When these fields are selected for import, they are automatically selected for export. Increase Freight Shipping List Functionality provides you the option to delete and repeat the day’s shipments from the shipping list drop-down tab. New Features Guide v.2900 7 Customer Experience Enhancements Overview With the launch of v.2900, you’re now able to set your business rules for data you import using FedEx® Integration Assistant, schedule pickups using fedex.com, create a one-time sender, customize ship labels, and validate addresses. 1. FedEx Integration Assistant Set Conditions helps you to create conditions in FedEx Integration Assistant profiles so you can enter your own business rules that determine how and what data is imported. This is currently available for import only. This functionality is available by clicking the Set Conditions button on the Match screen. There is no limit to the number of conditions you can create in a profile. The conditions evaluate your imported data using comparisons like equal to, greater than, less than, etc., and set a value in FedEx Ship Manager® through integration. For example, you can create a condition if weight is greater than 5 pounds, set Service Type as FedEx Express Saver®. 1 2 3 2. Schedule a Pickup using the fedex.com tab You now have the ability to schedule a pickup using the fedex.com drop down menu that is located at the top of FedEx Ship Manager. 3. Address Validation Preference adds an automatic address verification preference at ship time for all FedEx® services, including LTL freight and return addresses. 4 4. One-Time Return Address FedEx Ship Manager provides you the additional flexibility to create a One-Time-Return from the Change return address drop down. 5. Custom Label Enhancements allows you to generate a fully customizable label and expand to all doctabs labels, and brings validator label to parity while enhancing the overall custom label feature. New Features Guide v.2900 5 8 Additional Service Enhancements Expand FedEx Ground HazMat Technical Name Field from 50 characters, to 100 characters in length; you now have space to include the full technical name. FedEx® Integration Assistant Multiple Piece Shipment Export FedEx Integration Assistant customers can now export the total customer rate and list rates for a Multiple Piece Shipment. This data will write back to every package in the shipment. • The options are: Multiple Piece Shipment Total Charge, Total Surcharge and Total Discount for Customer Rates, as well as Multiple Piece Shipment Total Charge, Total Surcharge and Total Discount for List Rates. Express Dangerous Goods Enhancements allows you to add additional qualifying words to the technical name; Solution, Mixture, Molten and Stabilized, as well as gives the option to include global telephone numbers within the fields available for dangerous goods. Class 1 Explosives Dangerous Goods You’ll be able to input required data regarding Class 1 dangerous goods which will be in compliance with the International Air Transportation Association’s regulations. FedEx SmartPost® Label Standardization With FedEx Ship Manager v.2900, you now have the ability to indicate what to print in the secondary barcode space on your label; customer reference, 2D barcode, or blank space. International Enhancements With the FedEx Ship Manager® v.2900 upgrade, you will need to select one country code which represents the majority of goods manufactured. You’ll no longer be able to use XX as this option is now invalid and an error will be produced. Information contained in this New Features guide is confidential and proprietary to FedEx.
