(AO NB ) w as designated in 1 9 8 8 . At almost 2 ,0 0 0 sq uare
kilometres it is the second largest of the 4 1 AO NB s.
L arge areas are internationally recognised for their
imp ortant w ildlife. It is also B ritain’s first E urop ean
G eop ark and a U NE S CO G lobal G eop ark w hich highlights
the global significance of its landscap e and geology.

b efore tu rning tow ards Catton villag e and th en onto
th e edg e of th e moorland. In sp ring and su mmer th ere
are many different b irds to see.T h e w alk is on R ig h ts
of Way w ith many stiles to c ross.T h is is one in a series
