ELIGIBILITY
1. This competition is open to male amateur golfers who are members in good standing of a golf club belonging to
and in good standing with the Golf Canada or clubs in other countries, which are in good standing with their
respective Associations.
2. A player submitting an application listing a foreign club or golf association and proof of foreign handicap
certification will be entered as a foreign entrant, whether or not he is a foreign resident.
3. Canadian players must be a member in good standing at a Golf Canada club. Foreign players must be
members in good standing at a club with their respective association.
4. All applications are subject to approval or rejection by Golf Canada at any time before or after the start of play.
CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
Field size, as established by the quota system, will be 240 players for 2015, including qualifiers who are
successful in the qualifying round. If the field is oversubscribed at the closing deadline, Golf Canada Selection
Committee will select the field’s non-exempt players.
The winner of the 2015 Canadian Men’s Amateur will receive an
exemption into the 2016 RBC Canadian Open.
The winner will also be exempt from local qualifying for the 2015 U.S. Open and
receive an exemption into the 2015 USGA Amateur Championship and, if applicable,
the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur and USGA Senior Amateur
Championships.

sole discretion of Golf Canada.
2. Canadian Entrants
Each Provincial Golf Association has been allocated a quota of applications into the Canadian Men’s Amateur
Championship. The quota system is based on a formula and is available for viewing through each Provincial
Golf Association. Each Provincial Golf Association will decide on how their quota will be filled. All quota players
must complete this application and submit it to Golf Canada within five business days following the completion
of their provincial championship. Unused quota spots past that date will be returned to Golf Canada for use at
their discretion.

3. Foreign and Canadian Qualifying Opportunities
Golf Canada will conduct a qualifier for the Canadian Amateur on Friday, August 7th, 2015 at the Weston Golf
& Country Club in Toronto, ON. All non-exempt, non Provincial Quota players must attempt to qualify on
Friday, August 7th, 2015.
Qualifier Entry Requirements: The qualifier is open to all male amateur golfers who are members of a club
belonging to Golf Canada or clubs in other countries, which are in good standing with their respective
associations. All players must have a valid Handicap Factor of 2.4 or less to be eligible to compete.
Qualifier Field Composition (120 Players): If over-subscribed, the qualifier field will be selected by Golf Canada
based on previous championship experience. The official Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship Qualifier
Resume must be sent with the original application in order for consideration into the field. Twenty spots will be
reserved for foreign players. *The host province will receive 10 spots into the qualifier. If your application is
not one of the 110 selected, it will be placed on an alternate list in order of championship experience.
*Provincial spots will be awarded at the discretion of the British Columbia Golf Association provided those
players meet the eligibility criteria.

the instructions, or if you are applying by mail, print out and complete the attached application form The
application fee is $175. Please note that Golf Canada only accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and

All applications for the Qualifier must be submitted to Golf Canada through online registration prior to 5:00 p.m.
(EDT) Friday, July 31, 2015. Late, incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be accepted, and are
not the responsibility of Golf Canada.
Those players who qualify must pay the balance of the entry fee ($125) and fill out an official entry form prior to
participating in the Canadian Amateur. The $175 qualifier fee is credited to the tournament entry fee.
Qualifying Spots: The number of spots available will be based on the number of entries Golf Canada receives
prior to the entry deadline; however, Golf Canada will have a minimum of 5 spots available. In the event the
qualifying round is cancelled, lot will decide spots into the Canadian Men’s Amateur.
Qualifier Tee Times: Tee times will be posted on www.golfcanada.ca/championships. For any questions

2015 beginning at 7:30 a.m. .

calendar. Once on the event page, you will see a register button on the right hand navigational bar, click on it
and follow the directions. The application fee is $300. Please note that Golf Canada only accepts credit

Entrants will be notified promptly that their application has been received via e-mail. Received applications will
also be posted on the championship website. NOTE: Submitting an application does not in itself guarantee
a place in the championship. Notice of acceptance into the championship field will be sent to players
following the application deadline by e-mail and regular mail.
Players earning a quota spot through a provincial championship will be given 1 week from the final day of their
provincial championship to submit an entry.

REGISTRATION AT WESTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB & MANDATORY PLAYER MEETING
Players must register at the Weston Golf & Country Club on Saturday, August 8th or Sunday, August 9th, 2015
between 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Players who do not register for the championship before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday,
August 9th, 2015 may have their application withdrawn.

All competitors must attend the player meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9 at Weston Golf & Country
Club. Golf Canada Chair and Rules Chair will address important tournament information including local rules,
pace of play policy, and code of conduct. This is also an opportunity for competitors to ask questions regarding
the championship. Dress for the player meeting is golf attire.
NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL
Application fees will be refunded if Golf Canada is notified (1-800-263-0009 ext. 322) of the player’s intention to
withdraw prior to the application deadline. Application fees will not be refunded after the application deadline
without a medical certificate. Refunds are subject to a $50 administrative fee. Once selected into a
championship, players are expected to participate. If a player wishes to withdraw prior to the start of a
championship, he/she must notify Golf Canada well in advance in order to ensure an alternate fair opportunity

PLAY-OFFS
A tie for the championship will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following conclusion of play.
RULES OF GOLF; CLOSE OF COMPETITION; CONFORMING GOLF BALLS; CONFORMING DRIVERS
1. RCGA Rules of Golf will govern all play. Golf Canada Tournament Rules Committee shall have the final
decision on all claims and disputes. The competition is deemed to have closed when the trophy has been
presented to the winner or, in the absence of a prize ceremony, when all scores have been approved by the
Committee.
2. Only brands of golf balls on the most current List of Conforming Golf Balls may be used.

3. Any driver selected for play must have a clubhead that is listed on the most current List of Conforming Driver
Heads.
DRESS CODE AND FOOTWEAR
1. Competitors must adhere to Golf Canada dress code. Upon acceptance into the championship each player will
be sent a copy of Golf Canada dress code and footwear policy.
2. It is a condition of Golf Canada competitions that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are
prohibited. Penalty for breach of this rule is DISQUALIFICATION.
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The Local Rule permitting distance-measuring devices will be implemented at the Canadian Men’s Amateur
Championship. A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If,
during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure
other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach
of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is
actually used.
CADDIES
1. Caddies may be used in this tournament. Players may employ their own caddie, or caddies may be arranged
through the host club. Players wanting to employ a host club caddie should mark the appropriate section on
the application.
2. Caddies must adhere to Golf Canada dress code, a copy of which is included in the competitor’s application
package.
3. Caddies must wear flat-soled shoes. Violation of this condition may result in the DISQUALIFICATION of the
competitor
TRANSPORTATION
Golf Canada will evaluate each individual request to use motorized transportation in Golf Canada
Championships or qualifying rounds due to a claimed disability. In order for Golf Canada to properly evaluate
such requests, it is necessary to submit medical documentation setting forth the exact nature of the disability
and how that disability prevents such player from walking during a stipulated round. In addition, players will
have to submit sufficient information to enable Golf Canada to determine that providing a cart would not
provide a player with an advantage over other players. Please visit www.golfcanada.ca to download via Adobe
Acrobat Reader a copy of Golf Canada's Transportation Request Form, which each player seeking a golf
cart for himself due to a disability must complete and submit to Golf Canada with the original entry
form prior to the applicable closing date.
ANTI-DOPING POLICY
Participants at Golf Canada championships must be aware that doping control tests may be conducted by the
Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) on a random basis in accordance with the Canadian Anti-Doping
Program. To avoid an inadvertent positive test and the consequences of an anti-doping rule violation, athletes
