These tropical trees are cousins of the Hawaiian Koa tree. They have gorgeous
striped patterns of light and dark brown and have a deep, colorful tone that
match their visual beauty.

Solid Lacewood Ukulele
Lacewood has a marbled, honey color grain pattern with streaks of red that
produce an almost 3D look. We frame that beautifully with red and black
edge purfling.
We have updated our Solid mahogany ukes with a new satin finish that brings
the beautiful color and grain out of this select mahogany. We have also added
vintage Grover open gear tuners. There is a timeless, antique look to these
solid mahogany ukes. They have a very simple finish that keep the look and
sound clean with excellent projection and tone.

Solid spruce top ukulele
FLAME SPALTED MAPLE BACK & SIDES
Solid spruce tops traditionally pull out some of the best tone a ukulele has to offer. The
wood is light, vibrates tremendously and transmits sound easily. It’s straight grain gives it
great strength and stability. Kala combines the Spruce top with your choice of these three
beautiful back and side combinations: FLAME/SPALTED MAPLE, ROSEWOOD (SAPELE)
and MAHOGANY. We also offer solid spruce tops on our Thinbody/Travel series and our
Solid Lacewood series.
Unique and intricate spalt patterns are found in these flame maple ukuleles.
The solid spruce tops project a clear and bright sound with excellent projection.
ROSEWOOD Back & Sides
These ukes feature a solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, a very traditional
wood combination for stringed instruments because of the great tone they produce.
The sound is very bright and punchy, with very clear, pronounced attack.
