Stand Up 4 Transportation!
March 30, 2015
April 9, 2015, stand up for transportation – a day to advocate for long-term, increased
public transportation funding.
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) joins public transit agencies
and partners across the country to participate in National Stand Up 4 Transportation
(SU4T) Day sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
START SHOWING YOUR SUPPORT NOW
Our local theme is Kansas City Goes to Washington: #kcgoes2dc. On April 9, we want
to send a strong message to Congress through social media and email.
Take selfies at your bus stop!
Leading up to SU4T Day, share your selfie on social media to support transit. On
Twitter or Instagram, post your selfie with the hashtags #kcgoes2dc and #SU4T.
On Facebook, go to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com\KCATAMetro) and
post your selfie to our wall with the hashtags #kcgoes2dc and #SU4T. Add the
message: KC 4 federal transit funds.
No social media? Not a problem. Email your photo and the message to
[email protected].
You can post or email your at-the-bus stop-selfies now until April 9.
We will compile and send selfies to Congress, joining thousands across the country
to make our voices heard. It’s that simple.

APTA’s NATIONWIDE CALL
The current federal transportation funding bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century,
(MAP-21) was a temporary two-year bill that expires May 31, 2015. We need Congress to pass a
dedicated bill that invests in public transportation long-term. Otherwise future public
transportation projects Kansas City and communities across the country will face tremendous
uncertainty. A long-term transportation bill is needed for better and expanded transportation
options, and to continue to grow our economy.
