Connect to your Creek 2015 21-29 March

Connect to your Creek 2015
21-29 March
The waterways of the Redlands are incredible places
of unrivalled beauty and uniqueness. The Connect to
Your Creek Week initiative celebrates South East
Queensland’s waterways with the aim to connect
communities to their local creek in a fun and
engaging way. When people value and care for their
local creek, waterway health can be improved
dramatically. It is important we are connected to our
local creek, because our actions not only affect our
creeks but also the whole of Moreton Bay.
This year Connect to Your Creek Week will run
between 21st and 29th of March 2015. There will be
numerous events held throughout South East
Queensland, such as tree plantings, stand up paddle
boarding and yoga, kayaking and biking tours, litter
clean-ups, guided walks, documentary screenings,
musical performances and workshops.

creeks and shoreline the tracks are ideal for young
and old to experience fine examples of creek and
costal natural habitats while exercising and having
fun.
Join in Council’s Hilliard’s Creek Ride and choose Ride

parkland and enjoy a free morning tea/brunch.
The Redlands Bushwalking Club are hosting a guided
walk and clean up activity along Tarradarrapin Creek.
Come and enjoy a gentle, yet invigorating stroll
through the Tarradarrapin wetlands to explore the
unique riparian and aquatic habitats. The group will
stop during the walk to identify native fish, water bugs
and notable vegetation types along the way. After
the walk we will get our hands dirty to help clean up
litter from a section of the creek, leaving this striking
location in a better state than when we arrived.
Ride A is a gentle family ride on mostly off-road
pathways (any type of bike suitable). This group will
ride flat paths along lower Hilliard’s Creek. The ride
will start at 8.30 am, Wellington Point Train Station
Car Park and end at Sturgeon Street parkland for a
free morning tea / brunch. During the ride the group
will walk through creek side vegetation on coastal
alluvial plains containing mainly Melaleuca,
Eucalyptus and Lophostemon species.
Sunday 29th March
Ride B is a more adventurous ride, and will include
off-road pathways, shared on-road paths and off road
tracks and trails as part of Redlands Track Park. This

be divided into 3 small groups and rotate through 30
minutes of yoga, 30 minutes of stand-up paddle
