Taught by Torrie Rosenzweig, who has spent the past 15 years working as a freelance producer and director. In
addition, she oversees Entertainment Industry Career Seminars and talent development for Student Industry
Relations at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. This class is a seminar-style look at the function of the producer in
film, television, and new media bringing a diverse group of working producers to campus to discuss the various
aspects of their role in developing, selling, financing, budgeting, staffing, marketing, and making them.

A Broad Overview of Entertainment Industry Marketing Disciplines in Motion Pictures, Television, Music,
DVD’s, & Video Games.
Taught by David Weitzner, Director of the USC School of Cinematic Arts Summer Program and former President of
Worldwide Marketing for 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios. Professor Weitzner is responsible for some of
the most noteworthy feature marketing campaigns in history including the original STAR WARS, E.T. THE
EXTRATERRESTRIAL, ALIENS and Ingmar Bergman’s FANNY AND ALEXANDER. The focus of the class will be on the
various marketing technologies employed by the industry and will feature senior level studio executives as weekly
guest speakers.

Taught by Fred Bernstein, former Chairman of Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Company (Sony Pictures),
President of E-Studio Network and film producer, partner at Proskauer, Rose law firm and now partner at Katten
Muchin Rosenman, LLP. This class will offer an in-depth analysis of the market, financial, and strategic decision
processes for major motion pictures and the entertainment industry.

Agents-Managers-Lawyers-Public Relations
Off-Campus
Taught by Alan Berger, former head of Television Packaging at ICM, and currently a top executive at Creative
Artists Agency. This class will discuss the inner workings of the specific roles of various representation teams for
artists. The focus will be on deal making, career planning, and the application of representative structure to the
lives of various clients.
NOTE: This course will be held at CAA, 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067.
**Please note: All classes are 4 units. Graduate students completing four classes in this concentration will receive
an Entertainment Concentration Certificate from the School of Cinema. New classes are offered each semester
and the same class cannot be taken twice. ***MBA students receive clearance through the Marshall School of
Business; all non-MBA students please contact Ali Sarafoglou – Student Industry Relations office at 213-740-4432
for “D” clearance.
Cinematic Arts (CNTV/CTPR) Early D-clearance Instructions
If you are interested in taking a CNTV or CTPR course for The Business of Entertainment Graduate Certificate, you
must obtain D-class clearance before you will be able to register through USC Web Registration. Our office will
forward your request to Cinematic Arts for D-clearance. D-class clearance requests are usually processed within
three business days.
D-clearance Timeline

If you submit your request between April 1, 2015 (12:30 PM) and
April 3, 2015 (12:30 PM), you will be able to register for CNTV
and CTPR courses using USC Web Registration on Wednesday,
April 8, 2015 (12:30 pm) through Friday, April 10, 2015 (12:30
pm).

If you submit your request after April 3, 2015 (12:30 PM) you will
be able to register for CNTV and CTPR courses using USC Web
Registration during MBA Open Web Registration on Tuesday,
May 5, 2015 (2:00 pm).
Important for Fall 2015
D-clearances will be effective until Friday, August 21, 2015, at which point, in order to register, students will need
to obtain the instructor’s written permission on a Change of Program form and submit it to the contact the School
of Cinematic Arts Student Affairs Office in SCA 235, (213) 740-4432.

I understand that I am allowed to apply to my degree, without special permission, only 9 units of CNTV/CTPR
course work selected from the list of pre-approved courses published by the Marshall School of Business. If I plan
to either (a) complete the Entertainment Concentration by completing more than 9 units of CNTV/CTPR course
work or (b) complete the CNTV certificate, I must petition for permission to apply the additional units to my MBA.
