2015 IHMSA State Championship
June 5-6-7
Oklahoma City Gun Club
(Jim Fields Match Director)
Oklahoma City Gun Club hosted the IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association) State Championship over the past week-end, June 5-6-7th & was a great success with 115 entries. This event has been held at the club each year for the past 25 plus years, Jim Fields has been
the match director for this sport for over 32 years.
OKCGC has also hosted the IHMSA World Championship in 2012 & last year in July 2014 & more
than likely will host it again next year in 2016. The club has an auto-reset target system that is second to none.
Long range handgun silhouette competition consists of center-fire handguns .22 rim-fire handguns
as well as AIR handguns. Distances for the center-fire guns are 50 meters, chickens, 100 meters
pigs, 150 meters turkeys & 200 meters rams, all made of high strength steel. Distances for the .22
rim-fire are 25 yards chickens, 50 yards pigs, 75 yards turkeys & 100 yards rams. AIR handgun distances are 10 yards chickens, 12 1/2 yards pigs, 15 yards turkeys & 18 yards rams.
This match also included AIR pistols shot indoors in an air conditioned clubhouse. These guns are
very accurate & are shot at the same steel animal targets but on a very small scale compared to
the .22 rim-fire targets.
Some of the highlights of the match was Scott Thompson winning the Iron Man trophy which is a
total score of 8 different handguns. His winning score was 415 targets down out of a possible 480.
Scott also won the 4-Gun big bore aggregate with a score of 206x240.
Other winners were a couple of junior shooters, Austin Hoover winning the .22 smallbore open
sight division & Ryan Schuff winning the big bore center-fire scope division as well as the .22 smallbore, AIR pistol & 1/5 scale division, hats off to these fantastic junior shooters.
Gary Crews won the 500 meter forty-round side match in both the open sight division as well as
the scope division. This match if you can believe is shot at distances of 200 meters chickens, 300
meters pigs, 385 meters turkeys & 500 meter big horn rams with a handgun!!! The 500 meter club &
state record is a perfect 40x40 score shot last year in our World Championship match by Steve Martens of Minnesota.
Monthly matches are held on the 1st Sunday of each month March thru November & start at
9:00 am.
See all results on page 11.

As some of you know, we have had a problem with about 60-80 checks
When the checks go directly to the lock box, the bank sends us an electronic deposit ticket
In the early part of December, they somehow or another did not send us some checks
We had no way of knowing this until folk started contacting us about not getting their cards, even
though their check had cleared
Unfortunately, when this happened, i was totally tried up with my work, gun club projects and the
friends of NRA meetings, and was not able to respond as quickly as I-and some of you-would have
liked
The FNRA meetings were over Sunday, and mother nature shutdown my irrigation/landscaping
business Monday and Tuesday, thereby allowing me time to respond.
Most emails were answered in 3-4 days, but some stretched out to 7 days
I apologize, but I was doing all I could do
We have taken steps to prevent this from recurring
Every one affected by this problem should receive their card this week
Please email me if you do not get yours
Thanks

Secretary/Membership chairman
