INNER HEALING HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER Alajuela, Costa Rica www.innerhealingholistic.com Treatment Components We Inner Healing Holistic Wellness Center, proposes to our clients to undergo on these several treatment modalities to ensure proper care, establish and identify clinical problems for proper admission and systematic healthcare delivery for the inpatient treatment. Moreover, it will help us to develop and construct an individualized treatment plan for all the clients according to their needs. Clinical Assessment Upon signing of the agreement form and finishing the initial screening, our admission advisor begins a comprehensive bio psycho-social assessment to detect clinical problems that must take into consideration during inpatient treatment. This assessment is used to form the basis of a carefully designed plan of effective treatment that emphases on the patient’s status with mood-altering chemicals or behaviors. This assessment serves also to identify problems which do not require immediate intervention, but to note as well some factors to be utilized during the aftercare treatment period. Calling on expertise from a variety of professional disciplines, the assessment is accomplished in stages: 1. Medical Assessment — Our Nurse on duty will endorse the client to our physician to conduct a thorough medical examination on each client within 24 hours of the admission. The patient receives primary medical care for problems associated with the dependency and other health care problems as they may affect the patient’s ability to achieve or maintain recovery. 2. Nursing Care — Nurse on duty will do a clinical history intake of the patient upon arrival, that includes laboratory tests, drug testing and other laboratory works and develop a nursing care plan with the direction of the physician for whatever that is necessary to address current problems of the client upon admission. Social Assessment — our certified chemical dependency counselors collect an in-depth patient history and a social history on newly admitted clients. From these sets of facts, they will formulate a diagnostic summary, as their basis for their clinical planning and intervention, with those findings, the clinical staff (clinical director and counselors) will now come up with their course of plan of action, that needs to be implemented as soon as possible to address client’s needs psychologically etc. 4. Psychological Assessment — A psychological assessment will be implemented to each patient includes both an assessment of cognitive functioning and psychiatric screening if necessary depending on the findings during the intake process and according to doctor or clinical staff evaluations. Our psychologist works with our psychiatrist to assure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for any patient needing psychiatric services in addition to chemical dependency treatment. 5. Patient Care Monitoring — our psychiatrist will then evaluate client if there are some psychiatric complications that are present during the intake process. Then it will be followed by a proper and accurate treatment planning and care for the client. A collaborative recommendations and set of actions under all staff disciplines; psychiatry, nursing, psychology and addiction specialist(s). The team will discuss for any progress, evaluation and share observations to review treatment plans and provide supervision if needed, and make recommendations for treatment modifications or revisions according to the client’s condition. INNER HEALING HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER Alajuela, Costa Rica www.innerhealingholistic.com ***Assessments & Evaluations Comprehensive assessments and evaluations at Inner Healing Holistic Wellness Center are used to help identify whether there are clinical and medical problems that exist and if so, to identify them. We use this diagnostic process to best determine the most appropriate levels of care required by our patients. The assessment and evaluation process at IHHWC involves the following steps: Step One: A psychological assessment of each client is conducted utilizing a series of objective tests. This session lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours. Step Two: An in-depth psychosocial history is gathered on each client. This session also lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours. Step Three: Clinical staff members meet to thoroughly review and discuss the results of both the psychological assessment and the social history, then decide on an appropriate recommendation. Step Four: A final session is held with the client, at which time the clinical staffing team shares their findings of fact along with recommendations for appropriate levels of care. Therapeutic Composition Group Therapy – Each patient participates in group therapy sessions twice daily throughout each week in the program. The patient’s primary counselor, a certified chemical dependency counselor, manages these sessions. Group therapy is the primary modality (method) for addiction treatment. It has, perhaps, the greatest significance for our patients who have as an integral part of their development and change Individual Therapy – Each patient has at least two to three individual therapy sessions with their primary counselor each week. More individual sessions are held as needed depending on the client’s treatment plan or the issues that surface during treatment of the therapy. Structured Learning Exercises (SLE) – These are structured topics to be discussed by the therapist or the program coordinator. This will teach clients to accomplish certain developmental tasks and overcoming impulsive behaviors, etc. Because these clients need help in accomplishing their developmental tasks and other issues involving human wellness. SLE, is a key treatment, that INNER HEALING HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER Alajuela, Costa Rica www.innerhealingholistic.com provides living-skills, motivational skills, problem-solving, decision-making, and dealing various problems on a daily basis. Topics are introduced which have special significance for each client. Some of the topics were, healing the inner child, befriending the shadow, creating happiness in life, finding the hero within etc. Learning these life coping-skills or mechanisms, would be a definite support for their success. Outdoor Therapy Program –Our philosophy guides an activities therapy program that must approximate the real world and patients’ life situations. Therefore, patients are actively involved in activities common to their age group. Patients make choices with provided options and help plan the activities program each week. Supervised daily exercise outings, games, and activities supplement our recreation therapy program to give patients time to experience the outdoors, exercise, and have addiction-free fun. Holistic and Wellness Services – As part of IHHWC advocacies, we are encouraging and advise our clients to religiously participate on all the required activities such as yoga, pilates, meditation, relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, reiki healing, kinesiology, qigong, tai-chi, massage, acupuncture, bowen therapy, sound therapy, aromatherapy, art therapy, gym classes, zumba, criollo, salsa and many more to establish flow of energy and body conditioning away from the traditional methods of healing. Education Program – Each client participates in the education program, an individualized program of tutoring and group learning designed to assure each client intellectual development and progress throughout the course of Inpatient treatment. There is a Spanish class available on the site by request. Educational Presentations – All patients participate in educational lectures and films each week. The presentations are designed to teach the nature of the illness, and help them identify symptoms in themselves. There might be some workshops and small talks coming from experts in the field of addiction, wellness etc. INNER HEALING HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER Alajuela, Costa Rica www.innerhealingholistic.com Twelve Step Program (optional) – Patients are introduced while in treatment to the first five steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, and are given the opportunity to participate in step discussion groups, Big Book Study Group, and an open AA Speakers Group meeting in the community. In addition, patients are taken by the staff to community-based meetings twice each week to become familiar with these community resources. Relapse Prevention and Aftercare – Discharge planning includes a conference held with the patient and his or her parents, if appropriate, during family week. An aftercare and relapse prevention plan is designed to support gains the patient has made while in treatment. This plan includes aftercare sessions and follow-up for the patient, plus family aftercare to continue building a healthier family system and community support. Services needed by the patient which are not directly provided in the IHHWC aftercare program are planned for the patient and provided by referral agreements in the patient’s home community.
