Treatment Components
We Inner Healing Holistic Wellness Center, proposes to our clients to undergo on these several
treatment modalities to ensure proper care, establish and identify clinical problems for proper
admission and systematic healthcare delivery for the inpatient treatment. Moreover, it will help us to
develop and construct an individualized treatment plan for all the clients according to their needs.
Clinical Assessment
Upon signing of the agreement form and finishing the initial screening, our admission advisor begins
a comprehensive bio psycho-social assessment to detect clinical problems that must take into
consideration during inpatient treatment. This assessment is used to form the basis of a carefully
designed plan of effective treatment that emphases on the patient’s status with mood-altering
chemicals or behaviors. This assessment serves also to identify problems which do not require
immediate intervention, but to note as well some factors to be utilized during the aftercare treatment
period. Calling on expertise from a variety of professional disciplines, the assessment is
accomplished in stages:
1. Medical Assessment — Our Nurse on duty will endorse the client to our
physician to conduct a thorough medical examination on each client within
24 hours of the admission. The patient receives primary medical care for
problems associated with the dependency and other health care problems
as they may affect the patient’s ability to achieve or maintain recovery.
2. Nursing Care — Nurse on duty will do a clinical history intake of the patient
upon arrival, that includes laboratory tests, drug testing and other laboratory
works and develop a nursing care plan with the direction of the physician for
whatever that is necessary to address current problems of the client upon
admission.

3. Social Assessment — our certified chemical dependency counselors collect
an in-depth patient history and a social history on newly admitted clients.
From these sets of facts, they will formulate a diagnostic summary, as their
basis for their clinical planning and intervention, with those findings, the
clinical staff (clinical director and counselors) will now come up with their
course of plan of action, that needs to be implemented as soon as possible
to address client’s needs psychologically etc.
4. Psychological Assessment — A psychological assessment will be
implemented to each patient includes both an assessment of cognitive
functioning and psychiatric screening if necessary depending on the findings
during the intake process and according to doctor or clinical staff
evaluations. Our psychologist works with our psychiatrist to assure accurate
diagnosis and treatment planning for any patient needing psychiatric
services in addition to chemical dependency treatment.
5. Patient Care Monitoring — our psychiatrist will then evaluate client if there
are some psychiatric complications that are present during the intake
process. Then it will be followed by a proper and accurate treatment
planning and care for the client. A collaborative recommendations and set of
actions under all staff disciplines; psychiatry, nursing, psychology and
addiction specialist(s). The team will discuss for any progress, evaluation
and share observations to review treatment plans and provide supervision if
needed, and make recommendations for treatment modifications or
revisions according to the client’s condition.

***Assessments & Evaluations
Comprehensive assessments and evaluations at Inner Healing Holistic Wellness Center are used to
help identify whether there are clinical and medical problems that exist and if so, to identify them. We
use this diagnostic process to best determine the most appropriate levels of care required by our
patients. The assessment and evaluation process at IHHWC involves the following steps:
Step One: A psychological assessment of each client is conducted utilizing a series of objective
tests. This session lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Step Two: An in-depth psychosocial history is gathered on each client. This session also lasts
approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Step Three: Clinical staff members meet to thoroughly review and discuss the results of both the
psychological assessment and the social history, then decide on an appropriate recommendation.
Step Four: A final session is held with the client, at which time the clinical staffing team shares their
findings of fact along with recommendations for appropriate levels of care.
Therapeutic Composition
Group Therapy – Each patient participates in group therapy sessions twice daily throughout each
week in the program. The patient’s primary counselor, a certified chemical dependency counselor,
manages these sessions. Group therapy is the primary modality (method) for addiction treatment. It
has, perhaps, the greatest significance for our patients who have as an integral part of their
development and change
Individual Therapy – Each patient has at least two to three individual therapy sessions with their
primary counselor each week. More individual sessions are held as needed depending on the client’s
treatment plan or the issues that surface during treatment of the therapy.
Structured Learning Exercises (SLE) – These are structured topics to be discussed by the
therapist or the program coordinator. This will teach clients to accomplish certain developmental
tasks and overcoming impulsive behaviors, etc. Because these clients need help in accomplishing
their developmental tasks and other issues involving human wellness. SLE, is a key treatment, that

provides living-skills, motivational skills, problem-solving, decision-making, and dealing various
problems on a daily basis. Topics are introduced which have special significance for each client.
Some of the topics were, healing the inner child, befriending the shadow, creating happiness in life,
finding the hero within etc. Learning these life coping-skills or mechanisms, would be a definite
support for their success.
Outdoor Therapy Program –Our philosophy guides an activities therapy program that must
approximate the real world and patients’ life situations. Therefore, patients are actively involved in
activities common to their age group. Patients make choices with provided options and help plan the
activities program each week. Supervised daily exercise outings, games, and activities supplement
our recreation therapy program to give patients time to experience the outdoors, exercise, and have
addiction-free fun.
Holistic and Wellness Services – As part of IHHWC advocacies, we are encouraging and advise
our clients to religiously participate on all the required activities such as yoga, pilates, meditation,
relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, reiki healing, kinesiology, qigong, tai-chi, massage,
acupuncture, bowen therapy, sound therapy, aromatherapy, art therapy, gym classes, zumba,
criollo, salsa and many more to establish flow of energy and body conditioning away from the
traditional methods of healing.
Education Program – Each client participates in the education program, an individualized program
of tutoring and group learning designed to assure each client intellectual development and progress
throughout the course of Inpatient treatment. There is a Spanish class available on the site by
request.
Educational Presentations – All patients participate in educational lectures and films each week.
The presentations are designed to teach the nature of the illness, and help them identify symptoms in
themselves. There might be some workshops and small talks coming from experts in the field of
addiction, wellness etc.

Twelve Step Program (optional) – Patients are introduced while in treatment to the first five steps of
Alcoholics Anonymous, and are given the opportunity to participate in step discussion groups, Big
Book Study Group, and an open AA Speakers Group meeting in the community. In addition, patients
are taken by the staff to community-based meetings twice each week to become familiar with these
community resources.
Relapse Prevention and Aftercare – Discharge planning includes a conference held with the patient
and his or her parents, if appropriate, during family week. An aftercare and relapse prevention plan is
designed to support gains the patient has made while in treatment. This plan includes aftercare
sessions and follow-up for the patient, plus family aftercare to continue building a healthier family
system and community support. Services needed by the patient which are not directly provided in the
IHHWC aftercare program are planned for the patient and provided by referral agreements in the
patient’s home community.
