Dear Valued Customer, We have some exciting news to share with you about the introduction of two additional basis weights to our lightweight Alaska Plus product range, explained in detail in this newsletter. With this newsletter we also want to use the opportunity to capture all of the important information about Alaska Plus in 2015. As always, your sales and customer service representative at International Paper is happy to assist you with any questions relating to Alaska Plus and the full transition of your business from ‘old’ Alaska. www.alaska-plus.com New ALASKA PLUS basis weights 190g/m² and 270g/m² The most recent development regarding Alaska Plus is the addition of two new basis weights into the product range: • 1 90 g/m² is replacing the ‘old’ Alaska 200 g/m², offering the same performance in packaging products with a 5 % yield advantage. This basis weight has a unique position on the market, as it is the only high-stiffness GC2 board product below 200 g/m². • 2 70 g/m² is a completely new basis weight in our GC2 product range and is positioned as a mid-range product with a 500µm thickness. With this new basis weight we are able to offer a more comprehensive range of products making it easier for our customers to select the right quality for their packaging product. Switching from ‘old’ ALASKA to the lightweight ALASKA PLUS The performance of Alaska Plus in printing, converting, packing, transport and on the shelf is exactly as good as the performance of ‘old’ Alaska, proven by extensive tests conducted by converters and brand-owners across Europe. This means that the switch from ‘old’ Alaska to Alaska Plus can take place without any performance related adjustments. The only difference between Alaska Plus and ‘old’ Alaska is in fact just the basis weight, and all other parameters are kept stable thanks to the latest technology in board making at our Kwidzyn mill in Poland. The ‘old’ Alaska will cease to exist by the end of June 2015 and from July onwards Alaska Plus will be the only GC2 board produced in our Kwidzyn mill in Poland. We are rigorously working on a smooth transition plan with our customers and all internal stakeholders, to ensure product availability also on Alaska until the last production takes place in June. Should you still require some trial material of Alaska Plus to complete the transition of your business, please turn to your customer service representative at International Paper who will be happy to organize trial material for you.
