International Student Scholarship Policies Benedictine University offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate international students attending the Lisle campus in Illinois. International students are not eligible for scholarships awarded outside of International Programs and Services without approval. Students may be placed on scholarship probation or have their scholarship revoked if they do not meet the renewal terms of their scholarships. Students may be placed on probation more than once during their academic career, but should not exceed two consecutive semesters. Students who are placed on scholarship probation for two consecutive terms who fail to meet the required cumulative GPA or show significant improvement may have their scholarship revoked or reduced. If you wish, you can appeal your original award, scholarship probation, award reduction, or loss of award within the first two weeks of the term. Appeals received after two weeks will not be reviewed. You can submit an appeal via hard copy or via your BenU email. You would want to outline what may have caused your grades to drop, what you have done to improve your grades, and what you hope to do in the future term(s). Please Note for Undergraduate Scholarships: Merit UG Scholarship based on strong academic profile and overall application/performance is renewable with a cumulative 3.0/4.0, participation in international student programming/activities, and full-time enrollment. Global UG Scholarship is based on academic record and overall application, need, and country of origin; renewable with good academic standing, with a cumulative 2.5/4.0, participation in international student programming/activities, and full-time enrollment. The UG Transfer Scholarship of $1000.00 is a one-time tuition waiver available for international students who transfer from another U.S. university and based upon evaluation of a student’s academic records during the admissions process Cumulative GPA may include ESL coursework when coursework is listed on transcripts; performance in individual coursework including repeated coursework is taken into consideration Additional consideration for alumni is given Full-time enrollment is defined as 12 or more semester hours per term. Student financial aid programs, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice or obligation. The Benedictine Scholars Program Award may not be combined with any other offer without Executive review. Incoming sophomores: Limited to a maximum of three years or six terms of institutional awards. Incoming juniors: Limited to a maximum of two years or four terms of institutional awards. Incoming seniors: Limited to a maximum of one year or two terms of institutional awards. In most cases, there is a limit to institutional awards. Students seeking a second bachelor degree or second major do not qualify for these scholarships. Institutional awards are applicable to the cost of tuition only. Institutional awards cannot apply to summer tuition. Students requesting scholarships based on financial need may be requested to submit additional information. Please Note for Graduate Scholarships: Merit GR Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.5/4.0, full-time enrollment, and meet other international student requirements. Global GR Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0/4.0, full-time enrollment, and meet other international student requirements. Scholarships are based on cumulative GPA as well as overall application and academic performance. Full-time enrollment is defined as 8 or more quarter hours per term. Course transfers and waivers are taken into consideration when awarding scholarships; performance in individual coursework including repeated coursework is taken into consideration Student financial aid programs, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice or obligation. Additional consideration for alumni is given In most cases, there is a limit to institutional awards. Students seeking a second graduate degree from Benedictine University, second major, or dual degree do not qualify for these scholarships for the additional/second degree/major. Institutional awards are applicable to the cost of tuition only. Students requesting scholarships based on financial need may be requested to submit additional information.
