地域歴史研究への影響」

拝啓 春爛漫の候 皆様にはますますご清祥のこととお慶び申し上げます。 さて、本研究所は、ガンダーラ考古学で世界的に著名なナシム・ハン博士（Prof. M. Nasim
Khan；ペシャワール大学教授）を講師にお迎えして講演会を開催致します。ナシム・ハン
教授は、ペシャワール大学卒業後、長くパリ第三（新ソルボンヌ）大学で学ばれ、ガンダ
ーラ美術に関する論文で博士号を取得されました。現在は母校ペシャワール大学考古学部
教授として、国内で数多くの考古発掘にたずさわるとともに、英文研究雑誌 Gandhāran
Studies および Ancient Pakistan を発刊され、国内外で幅広く活躍なされています。博士は、
1999 年、般若経系統大乗経典を含む 19 点のガンダーラ語仏典写本をバジョワール地方の僧
院跡にて発見し、それらの暫定的ローマナイズと写真を出版されました。紀元後一 二世
紀に遡る仏典写本の発見は、とくに大乗仏教の起源と発展の研究にとって重要な意義を持
っています。
今回は「アジズ・デリ（ガンダーラ）仏教遺跡の発掘と地域歴史研究への影響」(Excavation
at the Buddhist Site of Aziz Dheri (Gandhāra) and its Impact on the History of the Region)というテ
ーマでお話し頂きます。ご講演の梗概は次の通りです。
Aziz Dheri is one of the most important Buddhist heritage sites in ancient Gandhāra,
Pakistan. Archaeological investigations at the site has, so far, revealed some significant discoveries
that substantially add to our knowledge about the political and cultural history of the region. The
recent archaeological findings at the site, which is the theme of the presentation, are providing some
new evidence that may have further impact on the history of the religious landscape at the time and
may also provide a new ground for certain disagreements among the scholars.
