Letter from Concordia University’s Team
Dear Potential Sponsor,
It is our pleasure to introduce you to the International Society for Performance Improvement
2015 University Human Performance Technology (HPT) Case Study Competition. Since 2009,
the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) has been hosting an annual
competition in which teams of graduate students from around the world are invited to participate.
This year, ISPI has invited a team from the Department of Education at Concordia University to
participate in this competition to be held in San Antonio, Texas between April 26th and 29th.
We are currently seeking sponsors for Concordia University’s team to participate in this Case
Study Competition. Your support will make it possible for us to travel to THE Performance
Improvement Conference, where we will represent Concordia’s Education Department. The ISPI
HPT Case Study Competition is a friendly and competitive learning opportunity for students to
apply the skills they are learning in their graduate programs in a simulated, yet authentic,
performance improvement scenario.
ISPI has been hosting this ongoing simulated business case over the past month. In their role as
emerging consultants, graduate students from participating university teams have been tasked
with resolving an organisational issue requested by their “client”. We have been interviewing
stakeholders, collecting data, analysing the case, and are now in the process of building a suite of
interventions that can address their needs. We will be submitting a full report, complete with a
formal assessment of the situation, a detailed description of the proposed interventions, a return
on investment (ROI) estimate, and a plan for measuring its impact. The competition culminates
in a presentation before a panel of judges during the conference.
As a valued sponsor, our team will provide you with opportunities to increase your industry
visibility in Montreal, Canada, and the USA, and to strengthen your partnership with
Concordia’s Educational Technology program. Our sponsorship options include multiple
exposure opportunities, including a press release where funders will be acknowledged and
visibility during the team’s conference presentation.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, or wish to discuss the options for
your firm’s unique objectives. We would be delighted to hear from you!

Letter from the Faculty Sponsor
Dear Potential Sponsor,
Three teams, dedicated students in Performance Improvement, and lots of learning and fun!
As the Faculty Sponsor for the 2015 Concordia University team, I am honoured to support and
represent this year’s Concordia University team: Crossroads Human And Management
Performance Solutions - C.H.A.M.P.S.
The ISPI Case Study Competition started in 2009 to provide students with a simulated real-life
experience in client management, performance needs analysis, evaluation, presentation skills,
and collaborative teamwork. The 2015 competition began in February 27, 2015 and concludes at
THE Performance Improvement Conference in San Antonio, Texas in April 2015. The
Concordia University team is competing collaboratively with Penn State University and the
University of North Texas.
Will you help them make it to San Antonio?
At the conference, each student team will have the opportunity to showcase their findings and
receive feedback from the distinguished panel of judges and the ISPI community. This year, an
additional award has been added to the list of awards: The People’s Choice Award!
Past teams have included students from Boise State University, Capella University, Indiana
University, Florida State University, San Diego State University, and University of West Florida.
They need your help to get there!
What have they been doing?
With the support of Dr Richard Schmid, Professor and Chair, Department of Education, the
students are connected to and encouraged by the department of Educational Technology at
Concordia University.
The seven graduate students have been working diligently to prepare for and facilitate client
meetings and interviews with key stakeholders, preparing client updates, and researching models
as well as client organisational contexts, and analysing data. In short, they are learning while
applying, and applying while learning.
This competition truly provides a valuable connection between ISPI and future HPT
practitioners, as well as valuable real-world experience for the students.
Help us help them!

I am impressed!
Frankly, I am impressed with their level of commitment, excellence and perseverance, as they
progress through the simulated case study.
However, there is one thing missing...
Your support!
As part of their fundraising activities, Concordia University’s team of participating graduate
students are ready to help you shine as a thank you for your support! Join them on this
adventure, share your experience, and in return you will leave touched. I promise.
Kindest regards,

Exposure Opportunities
At the Conference
Who attends the ISPI Conference?
Industry executives, consultants, managers, instructional designers, trainers, and organisational
development managers who are committed to performance improvement, organisational
efficiency, and innovation in human development. These individuals represent companies,
academic institutions, the military, government, and non-profit organisations within the industry.
The University Case Study Competition is a highlight of the conference, whose sessions attract
industry professionals. The organisers of both the case study and the conference collaborate to
create a wide range of opportunities for emerging professionals, like us, to network with
established industry professionals. Below is a snapshot of some of these opportunities:
•
April 26th: Emerging Professionals Speed Mentoring Session;
•
April 27th and 28th: Presentation of the University Case Study Competition;
•
Ongoing Career Centre Workshops and educational sessions tailored to emerging
professionals;
•
A private gathering for the student competitors and stakeholders in ISPI.
These are just a few of the many opportunities we will have to showcase your sponsorship. The
full agenda for THE Performance Improvement Conference 2015 is available online.
Your support of participating students offers you an opportunity to be visible at the conference
without leaving home! We will graciously thank you, our sponsor; for without you, our
attendance would not be possible.
