Adelaide Football League Preview
Division One - Rostrevor & Goodwood the benchmark
2015 looms as a massive year for many sides in
the top flight of the Adelaide Football league.
Goodwood Saints asserted their position as
the best team in Division One by taking out
the 2014 premiership with a sterling 50-point
win over Rostrevor. Despite containing both
the Eric Pfitzner Memorial medalist in Craig
Holm and the leading goalkicker, Heath Commane, Rostrevor were unable to match the
skill and class of the Saints.
It’ll be hard to go past Goodwood or Rostrevor in
2015 given each team’s caliber and experience with
Salisbury North tipped as the side that’ll make up
the most ground this season.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Expect Henley to have made vast improvement over the summer, with an eye on going
one step further than last year’s preliminary
final. Tee Tree Gully and Salisbury North will
also be strong contenders yet again.
It will be tough for the newly promoted
Payneham and Sacred Heart to match it with
the cream of amateur football in Division One,
but both have earned a crack after brilliant
seasons in the second division.
Division Two - Modbury & Unley face litmus test
With the two best sides from 2014 earning
promotion, there’s a clear hole at the top of
division two. Payneham edged Sacred Heart
in a thrilling decider in 2014, leaving the way
for Modbury and Unley Mercedes Jets to take
their place. They’ll both experience division
two football in 2015 but it would be a tremendous feat for either of them to challenge for
the finals.
Prince Alfred and Scotch were smashed by Sacred Heart in the finals last season, but with
no one standing in their way, we can expect
both sides to be challenging at the pointy end
of the season once more. St Peters will be desperate to find their way back into after relegation from division one. They’ll take no one
lightly this year.
Broadview has a soft start to the season, facing new kids, Modbury and will be better
placed for the experience gained in last year’s
to Sacred Heart. Expect them to be the big movers in
2015, but they’ll be no match for eventual premiers
in 2015, Scotch, which contains last year’s Best and
Fairest winner, Angus Twopeny.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Adelaide Football League Preview
Division Three - PHOS & Flinders look to make amends
Modbury took revenge for their 5-goal thumping by Unley Mercedes in the semi final by
turning the tables in the grand final, hanging
on for a 15-point win. Both sides were clearly
the best teams all season and their absence
paves the way for Pembroke and Seaton to
step up.
Pembroke went down to the eventual premiers and, alongside the newly relegated
Flinders Park, appear the side most likely to
make waves in the finals.
Golden Grove will have to wait a week to start their
run in 2015 after earning promotion. They have the
bye. Salisbury West have also earned a taste of third
division footy.
We can look forward to Pembroke, Seaton, Old Ignatians and Flinders Park to be in a bottleneck at the
top end of the table, with 2015 looming as the year
Pembroke breaks through for premiership glory.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Former division two side PHOS Camden will
also throw their weight around for fear of being stuck in the third tier for an extended period of time. They’ll know exactly where they’re
at in round one when they tackle Seaton.
Pembroke have a soft start against Plympton
and Flinders Park start their campaign against
Mitcham.
Division Four - Hope Valley looking for redemption
Golden Grove took the 2014 premiership in almost fairytale fashion. They cantered in the decider with a 49-point win over Salisbury West,
despite just a 5 point win over Eastern Park in
the preliminary final, and a 9-goal thumping
at the hands of the eventual runners-up in the
semi final.
Eastern Park will be the big mover of the season and, along with Pooraka and the relegated Kilburn and Salisbury, will form a formidable top of the table.
In a curious twist of the round one fixture, the
newly promoted sides Westminster and North
Haven face each other in a division five grand
final rematch. Westminster has the ability to
make waves in division four, while the former
division three sides Salisbury and Kilburn will
also face off.
Hope Valley has the ability to be the most improved
side of the year after last year’s one point loss to
Pooraka in the elimination final but they won’t be
able to match it with Eastern Park or Pooraka in the
long run.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Adelaide Football League Preview
Division Five - Cats & Lions in the hunt
Westminster was another Cinderella team to
fit into the premiership glass slipper in 2014.
They were the underdogs going into the preliminary final against the highly fancied Colonel Light Gardens, and despite a three quarter
time deficit, they rallied and won by 23-points.
Old Scholars then blitzed North Haven in the
grand final by 51-points.
Expect Harry Arren’s boot to lead Colonel Light Gardens to the pointy end of the table with 2014’s Best
and Fairest winner Ben Bamford’s Greenacres to be
the big movers of the season.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Colonel Light Gardens go into the 2015 season
as heavy favourites after blowing the chance
for promotion to division four and will only be
challenged by Elizabeth and their round one
opponent, CBC Old Collegians.
Pulteney and Woodville south face stern tests
in round one against Elizabeth and Adelaide
Lutheran respectively, following their relegation from division four. Blackfriars and Rosewater make up the rest of the divison after
earning promotion.
Division Six - Ingle Farm to make amends in 2015
Rosewater had convincing wins in the elimination, semi and preliminary finals but were
no match for eventual premiers Blackfriars in
the decider. The margin ending up a whopping 79-points.
Mitchell Park and Angle Vale both drop out of
division six after failing to have an impact all
year and are replaced by Smithfield and Adelaide University.
West Croydon are again strong, while Fitzroy
and Ingle Farm have made gains over the
summer and will go closer than they did last
year.
Brahma Lodge and Trinity Old Scholars find
themselves in division six after poor seasons
in division five so we can expect them to have
a real crack at joining last years finalists towards the back end of the season.
Central United and Mawson Lakes have ground
to gain if they’re to make the finals this year, while
Lockleys has an opportunity to make a statement in
round one when they tackle West Croydon.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
Southern Football League Overview
Battle of the south heats up in 2015
The 2014 season ended in the blockbuster
fans were expecting when top side Noarlunga
took on 2nd placed Reynella. Both sides were
incredibly well matched all season, only separated on the ladder by 2 premiership points.
The decider was an absolute nail biter with
minor premiers Noarlunga hanging on to win
by just 4 points in an extremely physical and
fierce contest. Waylon Johncock was the hero
for the victors, booting 4 goals and capturing
the J.H Warren Medal for best afield.
Port Noarlunga and Morphett Vale both had
great seasons, bowing out in the preliminary
finals, while Happy Valley and Flagstaff Hill
both tasted finals footy. Flagstaff’s disappointing end was sweetened slightly by the performance of Michael Shearer, who was captured
the Mail Medal as the best and fairest player of
the 2014 season.
We can expect the boot of Thomas Caudle to have
Noarlunga at the pointy end of the ladder and
Reynella to be breathing down their neck all season
once again. Round one will give a clear indication of
how much ground Port Noarlunga’s made over the
summer.
Noarlunga will be the first side to win back-to-back
flags since Morphett Vale won 4 in a row from 20042007. Flagstaff Hill will be the big movers of the season.
PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
The 2015 season kicks off with some marquee
matches around the competition. A preliminary final rematch sees Port Noarlunga take
on Noarlunga, while Flagstaff Hill tackles Happy Valley. Reynella has a relatively easy start
against Cove.

Southern Football League Preview
After finishing 13th in 2014 Damien Smith’s side will be looking to make some significant
improvement in 2015. There’s plenty of new young faces including impressive wingman Jake
Stangewitz who has plenty of dash. While they may have gained national fellowship during
last year, Damien Smith said his side is all about moving forward to the New Year. With a lot of
former Aldinga champions returning, morale will be high.
Despite some impressive performances, last year’s 7th ranked side has plenty of upside in
their game. With a relatively young group, there’s a lot of familiar former Brighton juniors out
to impress. Watch former Glenelg star Jacob Carger. They effectively gain a new recruit with
the warrior Josh Sterling returning from a serious foot injury he sustained in 2014.
Another team that finished mid table in 2014, Paul Crate’s side hasn’t had much luck with
7 first choice players out due to injury. That doesn’t mean they won’t put up a fight though
with some talented youngsters set to impress. If their forward structure can become more
effective, they have a good shot at making finals.
There remains plenty of upside from the side that finished 11th in 2014. If they can find more
support for Marley Butler-Chaseling and Cameron Miller up forward, they could be a real
smokey this year. Consistency across the board will be a key determining factor in deciding
where this side finishes up in 2015.
Glenn Forbes has seen a dramatic overhaul to the Edwardstown list but thankfully it should
be heading in the right direction. There’s plenty of former juniors who enjoyed success in
their earlier years and one to watch is George Cornish who stands at 6 foot 5, weighing in at
110 Kg. If that doesn’t get you excited, a former state un18 prospect, Kane Mulvaney is expected to get on his good foot this year too.

Southern Football League Preview
Rod Mitchell’s side came close to finals football and will be hopping a ‘Back to Flagstaff
Hill’ recruitment campaign will give them the necessary top ups they need. There’s been a
great success and club morale is high. With some improved performances across all lines
could see an improved set of performances from last year. One to watch is Alex Carey who
was previously listed for the GWS Giants.
At their best, they put on some brilliant foot to watch but unfortunately at their worst,
were on the end of some ugly score lines. A big focus this year will be defence and closing
the gap between the sides best and worst. If that can be done, with an improve midfield
output, this side can challenge some of the best.
After going out in straight sets in the 2014 finals series, these blokes will be keen to atone
for what could’ve been. Improving their record against the sides from the top of the table
will go a long way to fixing that.
Don’t let a first up loss to Edwardstown fool you, Wayne Slattery and his side will be ready
to give their all this season. A couple of early wins on the board will go a long way to deciding his team’s prospects for 2015.
Ben Coleman and his side are on a mission to go one better after being knocked out at
last year’s preliminary finals. With no drastic overhaul of his playing list, expect them to be
contending when it comes to the crunch.
Southern Football League Preview
After a relatively strong defensive showing in 2014, the demand for a bigger scores will be
forefront of this footy club. A bigger spread of goal kickers should ensure this and with a
good start, they could surprise few.
The reigning Premiers may have lost some personnel over the off season but have regained former best and fairest winner Steven Copestick. Mitchell Mulroney will be another
key addition to an already impressive line-up. If Trevor Mitton’s side can replicate last year’s
form and lead the league in scoring where they averaged 118 points per game, watch out.
When you finish last in 2014, the only way is up. Ross Brokenshire will be helping for that
and with some new additions it could happen sooner rather than later. Watch their early
season for as up to 8 new players may be making their debut in the first outings. The one
to watch is Dan Loveridge who can fill a variety of roles.
Nick Manhood’s side will hope to go one better this year and make the Grand Final. They’ve
got plenty of proven talent that has stood tall in many challenges. Their games against
their finals aspirants and rivals will be crucial. If they can maintain their defence which was
second-lowest for points conceded, they’ll give themselves every chance.

PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES
NOARLUNGA
It’s hard to ignore the reigning Premiers. It takes something special to win a Grand Final after being 6 goals
down at the first break and when Noarlunga performed this feat in 2014, you knew they’ve got plenty of
mojo. From full back to full forward, there’s plenty of talent and flair on display. Their ability to pile on quick
goals was a key determining factor in their success of 2014. If it is to be repeated with such savagery, opposition defenders will be dreading the week they face Noarlunga.
REYNELLA
Two Grand Finals in the past two years, success in one, disappointment in the other. Can they climb the
mountain and give themselves another shot at glory? Confidence will always play a huge factor in a situation
like this. If they can find themselves in the top 2 by mid-year, there every chance to be named Premiers. Some
luck with injury wouldn’t go astray either and that will be watched with interest as they have undertaken a
change in direction for their preseason.
FLAGSTAFF HILL
After falling agonisingly short of a finals berth in 2014, there’s plenty to like about this potential Cinderella
story. The name may not suit the style of football they like to bring with some early wins on the board, anything is a possibility. With many of their former juniors coming back to the club with matured bodies and
minds, all at Flagstaff Hill will be hoping this year produces something special. Can the days of former Premierships be rekindled in 2015? There’s a sneaky chance.

Adelaide Football League Div 1
Rostrevor OC: Rostrevor had a great season in 2014, finishing second on the ladder with 15
wins and 3 losses during the minor rounds. They made it to the grand final but fell just short
as they went down to the Goodwood Saints. Rostrevor have had a couple of new players
come into the ranks this year including Tom Hurley from Sturt, Matt Stelzer, and Nathan Hornhardt. They hope to have a solid season and will endeavour to play the same brand of footy
that has kept them around the mark the past two years. This will be a strong team to beat.
Adelaide University: Adelaide University finished 8th on the ladder last year but still managed
to rack up a few wins. They’ll be looking to redeem themselves this year and contend for the
finals.
Goodwood Saints: Goodwood Saints had a hell of a season last year, firing out of all cylinders and eventually taking home the premiership. They were undefeated through the minor
rounds and will no doubt pose just as big a threat this year. This is the team to beat.
Tea Tree Gully: Tea Tree Gully made it to the finals last year finishing 4th on the ladder. With 11
wins and 7 losses in the minor rounds last year these boys will be ones to look out for as the
2015 season progresses.
Port District: After finishing 7th on the ladder in 2014, Port District will be looking to aim
higher this year. Expect a tough team in a tough league. Only time will tell if Port District have
what it takes to make it to the finals and bring home the trophy.
Adelaide Football League Div 1
Payneham NU: Payneham are looking to “work hard, be competitive, and stay in the top
half this season” says George D’Antochia, the Club’s president. Payneham took out the
division 2 premiership last year.
Sacred Heart OC: Sacred Heart finished at the bottom of the ladder last year with only
2 wins in the minor rounds. They’ll certainly be looking to improve on last year’s performance and show that they have what it takes to make it to the finals.
Henley: Henley look to make quite an impact on the league this year after finishing third
in 2014. They fell 7 points short in the preliminary final against Goodwood Saints last
year; that memory may be what gives the Sharks the motivation and edge to take home
the premiership this year.
Salisbury North: Salisbury may indeed be the dark horse team this year after finishing 5th
on the ladder in 2014. They were knocked out in the elimination stage of the finals after
losing by only 3 points to Tea Tree Gully last year. Expect The Hawks to be in contention
this season.
Portland: Portland are looking to show they have what it takes to be a premiership team
this year with Centre Half-forward Alex Bradley stating: “Our goal for the 2015 season is to
continue to grow and build on what we achieved last year. 2014 was the club’s first year
in division 1 and to have fallen just short of playing finals was a good result for us. We’re
aiming to improve our running game and play more consistent footy so that we can be
serious contenders for the premiership this year.”

The Tigers had a strong 2014 campaign fall well short of expectation, bowing out during
the first week of finals action. But the threat of falling away as a finals contender in 2015
should see Broadies bounce back stronger this season, and push for a chance to play
division one football again.
Modbury was the surprise packet of the 2014 division three season, defying the critics to
earn a promotion in 2015. The club will be well placed to win games this season, but will
simply be aiming to hold onto its place in the division for a crack at finals action in 2016.
The Rams have been humbled in recent seasons to the point where the former division
one powerhouse missed finals action in 2014. A move back up the ladder will be the aim
for 2015, but any improvement on its eighth-place finish last year will be a positive for
Gepps Cross this season.
2015 will see Gaza find itself in unusual territory relegated back to division two after a
horror 2014 division one campaign. The club has suffered from a lack of depth in recent
seasons seeing a gradual fall from challenging for a division one premiership to fighting
against relegation. This season could be even tougher for Gaza, if it is aiming for an immediate promotion back into the top flight.
Scotch come into 2015 arguably hungrier for the ultimate prize than any of its rivals, after being humbled with an embarrassing preliminary final loss to Sacred Heart last year.
There is no doubt the current crop of players are capable of taking Scotch to a 2015 grand
final, but whether they can perform on the finals stage remains to be seen.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Adelaide Football League Div 2
SMOSH is now a stayer in the second division despite spending the past few seasons
hovering around the middle of the table. The boys from West Lakes come to an important point in 2015 though, with the Lions desperate to improve on another middle-of-the-road season.
This season will be one of the biggest tests for Walkerville for several years after losing
its 2014 skipper and best and fairest over the offseason. However, with a raft of players also coming in, the Cats will believe a push into the top five is well within reach in
2015.
PAC’s rapid rise from the lower divisions has faltered in recent seasons despite its
strong showing from the moment it reached division two. However, the good results
have fallen short of expectations and with PAC’s strong numbers, they will again believe a pass mark is a top-two finish and a division one berth.
Newly promoted, Unley-Mercedes have thrived since amalgamating to become the
Jets. The club has the potential to become a SAAFL powerhouse in the years to come,
but as other clubs on a rapid rise have found in seasons past, the step from the second
division to the first is the most difficult challenge for any club.
No doubt a contender in 2015, St Peters will be stung by its relegation from division
one at the end of last season. But a wooden-spoon finish for the second year running
is well out of the question for SPOC, which should expect to be a premiership favourite upon its division two return.

If division three wasn’t looking tight the added addition of PHOS Camden is definitely
going to add some pressure to the other teams. Unfortunately last season they lost a
few games early on in the season that cost them and push them down to the bottom
of division two. However preseason training has supported the idea that PHOS Camden are going to be strong competitors this season.
Starting the training last year with a special focus on fitness and endurance training
and then returning mid January with solid session they seem to be a force to be reckoned with. They have also been very strategic with their recruitment process finding
specific types of players who fit well with the intentions of this season. In saying that,
we are expected to see development in their physical side, ball movement and confidence this season.
Coach Simon Quinn is confident that the boys, who have the up most respect for the
other teams in the division, will bring a ruthlessness needed to win the games. With
3 players out with injuries they won’t be heading into their first game against Seaton
Ramblers in full strength; however we are likely to see this change by the third week
of the competition.
Division three is looking very interesting with a bunch of new coaches taking over
clubs, one of them being Seaton Ramblers coach Matt Webber. Unlike a brand new
coach entering unknown territory Matt was assistant coach last year and knows the
team well!
Seaton Ramblers were strong competitors last season missing out in the final weeks
and as such we shouldn’t expect to see any major changes within their game plan.
However their focus this season seems to be pronouncing their zone defence strategies in order to increase scoring opportunities. With a high turnover of players between the two seasons they have invested wisely in recruits.
Mitch Reberger is expected to be a major asset to the club focusing on increased
ball movement whilst Brad McSherry will bring a bigger body to their inside midfield.
With spirits of the club at a high they head into their first game with fit experienced
players and quality younger players.

Adelaide Football League Div 3
What a year it was last year for Pembroke. They took their time in the first half of last
season but ended so close to taking out the final. With an impressive finish last season
many have shown interest in joining the club making this year their best numbers to
date, however only 4/5 new recruits will be seen joining the A-grade. Of these they
include Scott Fisher and Brody Webster who have returned to Pembroke from other
teams.
As for preseason look at Pembroke the boys have put in a solid effort, dedicating a lot
of time to fitness training with the addition of a fitness coach. One goal we will see
from Pembroke this season is keeping up their famous intensity for the full four quarters of every game. Like last season they look to carry out their motto ‘in it to win it’
which saw them win 8 out of their 9 home games and 10 games in a row.
This season will see solid football from Pembroke especially in their first game against
Plympton. Unfortunately their best and fairest from last season is out with injury; however they’ll still be in full force this weekend. They know their best footy stands and is
eager to prove just that.
Once again another club to have a new coach this season. Welcome Simon Howard,
who was assistant coach last year and eagerly, stepped up to top position this season.
For Plympton this season the recruitment process has been a vital and specified task.
Plympton wants quality footballers who not only fit the team but fit the attitude and
culture of the club first and foremost.
They have found just that in Jackson Holtham and Jasper Barrit, two young players
with great potential for the club. This season we will definitely be seeing a strong midfield with key position players taking charge. Their preseason training may be stand
out above the rest as they started mid November hoping to take the advantage. A lot
of the focus has been on fitness and strength work.
Plympton won’t hold back this season, they know they are a good side and expect to
bring explosive footy right from the start. For the boys finals are the goal however they
will take on each game at a time carefully and strategically adjusting along the way. A
Big game is expected between them and Pembroke in the first round.
Adelaide Football League Div 3
It’s another club with a new coach, but unlike the others not well known to the
club. It doesn’t worry Jade Sheedy as a fresh pair of eyes seems to be working its
advantage for Athelstone. With not the best season last year the boys are back and
embracing new ideas, strategies and game plans.
With the focus this year on a fine balance Athelstone is expected to bring a quality
side with strong areas all across the field. Not many new recruits will be seen in Athelstone’s line up, a strategy not taking by any other club. This means a well maintained squad ready for the challenges ahead. It seems we will see how Athelstone
marks up against the competitors within the first few games and we can’t wait!
Again we see the return of Jeremy Cini in the coaching role this year from assistant
coach last year who filled in coach positions for a couple of weeks. With a new leadership team consisting of James Galleghar as captain, Sam Cook and Xavier Moore
as vice captains the team is looking refreshed and strong. This season the focus is
on working on and off the field. We expect to see some new strategies and game
plans that work with the boys and the new recruits.
The Old Ignatians proved last season that they were a solid side and hope that with
some development this season in their defensive plays they will be able to beat last
year and make the finals. This week’s game against Athelstone will demonstrate
the boys’ responsiveness and competitiveness that the Old Ignatians bring to every
game.
Adelaide Football League Div 3
Mitcham are back with a fiery attitude this season. They expect nothing but to be
better than last year. Not moving from the middle of the ladder last season coach
Adam West puts that done to not enough depth within the team which lead to inconsistency over the season. That has all changed this year with 4/5 quality players joining the ranks.
Drew Liptons is expected to bring his leading goal kicking reputation to the team
with hopefully impressive results. Mitcham has refreshed this year focusing on fitness and stretching over the preseason. Limiting injuries is what it’s all about this
year as they want to maintain their full strength squad. With new sponsors the
club is running smoothly and the A-graders hope this is illustrated this weekend
against Flinders Park. Mitcham are realistic they know this year it will be a tight
competition with big competitors but they are up for the challenge and hope to
reach finals.
Flinders Park will be a club to watch over this season with new coach Greg Anderson moving from the Old Ignations to coach position. The club is responding well
to the new coach who has an advantage in knowing the sides within the competition well. Flinders Park has good numbers within the team this year and played
well in the preseason trial games.
However there is concern that around five of their key players are out with injury
carried over from last season. In reaction to this the focus has been on fitness to
limit those injury numbers. We are expected to see those players return over the
next 2-6 weeks. Not all bad news as the club has been lucky with recruits and has
the depth to cover the first few weeks.
Anderson said one of the strengths Flinders Park will have this year is the all round
strength in different areas. We are expected to see a lot from Flinders Park this
season!
Adelaide Football League Div 3
Golden Grove are coming off a very successful 2014 season and will be looking to
stamp their authority on Division 3 this season. After winning both Division 4 and
Division 4 Reserves flags last year Coach, Ben Armstrong, was not prepared to let
the club have a premiership hangover.
The playing group were back on the track early pre-season and the whole group
gave their commitment to the club and came up with the motto of “No Limits”
something the whole club has adopted. Although the club has kept most of last
year’s squad, Armstrong has had to replace small forward Tom Oliver who is travelling overseas along with Jake Huggard who is also moving away.
Positive recruiting has seen the club pick up Kym Sumner from Eastern Park along
with key forward and former junior Jarred Coffee from St Peters. The Kookaburras can also boast the return of former juniors Josh Buttery from Norwood and
Hayden Wallis from Centrals. These inclusions will certainly strengthen Armstrong’s squad and after two strong showings against Modbury and Kilburn in
recent trials the Kookaburra’s are ready to fire. Brock Castree and Matt Stent have
both been included in the Adelaide FC SANFL squad but with the new inclusions
Armstrong will have them well covered.
The off season has also seen the club improve their facilities with a major extension to their kitchen along with the installation of floodlights on their main oval.
The Kookaburra’s will be looking to make their mark in Division 3 but will have to
wait until Round 2 to get going as they have drawn the bye this week.

Adelaide Football League Div 4
The Hounds had a disappointing 2014 season in Division Four, narrowly avoiding relegation
by one win over Woodville South, and percentage over fellow survivors Glenunga. Phil Neagle’s men will have their work cut out for them in 2015, and could fall further down to Division
Five if they aren’t careful.
The Demons were a strong unit in 2014, losing only three games and finishing third in the
home and away season. They were left heartbroken in September, losing by five points to
eventual premiers Golden Grove, with that loss still burning, expect The Demons to crush
many in their path to Division Three.
The fairytale journey from Division Five was complete, after winning the Elimination Final,
1st Semi Final and the Preliminary Final sealing promotion, before stunning minor premier
North Haven by 51 points in the Grand Final. The Dragons will need a better performance in
the home and away season to survive in Division Four than their 10-8 record in Division Five.
The Magpies dominated Division Five for most of the season, yet were shocked in the Grand
Final by Westminister Old Scholars, and will reflect on the missing premiership throughout
their season. Expect a battle by North Haven to survive and mid-table safety is what should
happen.
The Demons were consistent in their results in 2014, going 9-9 and finishing fourth in the
home and away season, however were heartbroken in their elimination final, losing to Pooraka by a point at home. Redemption will be on the minds of Michael Stevens’ men, and hoping
to go deeper into September.
Adelaide Football League Div 4
The Rams were saved on the final day of the home and away season with a battle for
relegation against Woodville South, and walked away victors by three points. Glenunga
were disappointing in 2014, and will hope to improve in 2015, or else certain relegation
will await them.
The Kookaburras were the third leakiest defence in Division Four in 2014, but were safe
in mid-table finishing sixth on the table. A stronger defence in 2015 will be a necessity to
avoid any potential relegation threat, and one or two more wins needed for a tilt at September in the upcoming season.
The Bulls had a strong 2014 season, and managed to upset Hope Valley in the elimination
final away by a point, before being defeated by Eastern Park by 35 points in the 1st Semi
Final. However, the 8-10 record must be turned into 10-8 for The Bulls to be any serious
chance of getting promotion into Division Three, and more finals experience for the side
is a necessity in 2015.
The Magpies were beaten thoroughly in 2014 in Division Three, only winning twice, both
against bottom place Kilburn. Salisbury with the experience of a higher division should
be likely to play finals again in 2015, but will need to retrieve their confidence and respect
to compete in the upcoming season.
The Chics set records in 2014, for all the wrong reasons, conceding a whopping total of
5106 points across eighteen games, and totalling only 144 points over the same course.
They were kept scoreless on four occasions; conceded 400+ points in three games, a losing margin high of 436 points and low losing margin 207 points. Kilburn will want respect
back in a big way, but with the humiliation of last season, could be at risk of a double

After being knocked out in the finals last season, Colonel Light Gardens and Elizabeth will be two of the teams to watch this year as they fight to go a step further
and reach the grand final. Falling short last season, these teams will be hoping they
can return to the form that saw them reach the finals in the first place and this week
gives them a chance to get off to a good start.
For Colonel Light Gardens, the opportunity to prove themselves in the finals will be
a driving motivating force after a disappointing finals series that saw them going
out after losing two finals in a row. They start their season this weekend against another team who failed in last season’s finals series in CBC Old Collegians.
CBC finished the regular season in fourth spot last year with 11 wins but were
knocked out in the first week of the finals. They will be trying to improve this year
and move up the ladder to give themselves the best chance at making an impact in
the finals after the disappointment of last year.
Elizabeth will start their season against a team who is falling back into the division
in Pulteney. A disappointing 2014 saw Pulteney win just one match, but a big offseason and dropping down a division may work in their favour as they will have a
lot to prove to themselves as they look to be a force in Div 5.
Elizabeth lost their first two finals games last year and will be looking to make a
bigger impact come this seasons finals series. Last season will be especially disappointing given they won 12 matches and finished third on the ladder after the
regular season.
Rosewater also have the opportunity to move up into division 5 after a solid 2014
season that saw them make the grand final after finishing 4th on the ladder. They
fell to Blackfriars in the last game but still have the chance to make an impact on
division 5 this season.
AD-
Adelaide Football League Div 5
They play Greenacres this week who ended the 2014 season in 8th spot in the
division. Winning 7 matches in 2014, Greenacres consistently fell short to the top
teams, something they will no doubt be looking to change this year as they try to
move up towards the top spots on the ladder.
Woodville South join Pulteney as the teams falling back into the division after a
2014 season that saw them finish second last in div 4 with just 5 wins. Only missing out on staying in div 4 by one win, Woodville will be hoping the lower division
gives them the boost they need to make a bigger impact this season.
They kick off the season against Adelaide Lutheran who had an even 2014 with 9
win and 9 losses, leaving them in 6th spot at the end of the season just a couple
wins outside of having a shot at the finals.
After winning the div 6 grand final in 2014, Blackfriars will have a chance to test
themselves out in division 5 this season and will be looking to start well against
Para Hills. Blackfriars were dominant last season, losing just 2 matches and winning the grand final by 79 points.
Para Hills finished 7th last year with 9 wins, just missing out on playing in finals.
Winning their last 4 games of the 2014 season, Para Hills will be trying to continue
that form throughout the season and avoid the slumps that meant they missed
the finals.

Adelaide Football League Div 6
The Hawks in 2015 will want to follow up their 2014 performance, yet with topping it off with
a Grand Final performance instead. After being toppled out in the preliminary final by Rosewater, and missing out on promotion by nine points, with a division title as recent as 2010,
you can expect The Hawks to be contenders once more.
Trinity had a disappointing 2014 season, relegated from Division Five with only four wins and
a draw from 18 games. After two seasons in Division Five, Trinity bring with them a wealth of
experience in a higher division which could ultimately see them return in 2016 or at least well
clear of any relegation threat.
The Tigers were slaughtered in Division Five last season, and dropped comfortably into Division Six with a record of eighteen straight losses, accumulating a total of only 797 points
scored for the season. For a team so badly beaten in the higher division, a point to prove is
what coach Wayne Knowles’ men should be looking at in Division Six, and to get some respect back from the competition.
The Bulldogs will want to push onwards from their eight wins last season and improve and
potentially move into a finals spot. With Rosewater going up to Division Five as somewhat of
a shock, the competition for a finals position with West Croydon, Trinity and potentially Brahma Lodge, the Dogs may have to settle for a mid-table position once more in 2015.
The Saints were three games safe from relegation, yet only four wins from eighteen outlines
a problem for Mawson Lakes in 2015. The two relegated sides, Angle Vale and Mitchell Park
were bullied by the rest of the league, and perhaps for David White’s side, if they aren’t careful, could be in serious threat of going down to Division Seven in 2016, a far cry from its Division Four high in 2001.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Adelaide Football League Div 6
The Bulldogs finished third in the home and away season at the end of 2014, and were
convincingly dismantled in the Qualifying Final by West Croydon by 89 points before
being crushed in the First Semi Final by promoted Rosewater in 2014 by 57 points. The
losses will still run deep for Ingle Farm in 2015, as a hungry Bulldogs unit could upset the
apple cart of a few promotion and premiership rivals this year, don’t be surprised to see
Ingle Farm deep in September.
The Lions were a competitive outfit and had a reasonable and comfortable 2014 season,
picking up nine wins and nine defeats, well out the way of relegation, however never
posed a threat in the finals series, losing by 42 points to Rosewater in the Elimination
Final. Another finals appearance could change a few things in 2015 for the Roys, but a
premiership and promotion seems a bit too far away.
The Demons, like Fitzroy were also a competitive outfit and had a good 2014, also picking
nine wins and nine defeats, missing out on percentage to compete in September action.
A few more wins in 2015 will all but secure finals in the upcoming season, but again like
Fitzroy, a premiership and promotion seems too far away and unrealistic.
The Panthers were unbeaten throughout 2014 in Division Seven, and destroyed everything in its path, conceding only 456 points in eighteen games, and winning the Grand
Final by 91 points over Adelaide University. Smithfield will pose more competition than
Mitchell Park and Angle Vale by these results, which could prove some surprises in 2015
and rock the division.
