Wait-listing Guidance for Biology 1101

Biology 1101 and Lab Guidance for Fall Semester 2015
Biology faculty will not grant overrides for Biol 1101L (lab); however they will still grant overrides for Biol 1101
(lecture).
Q. I received an email notification that I can register for Biol 1101 (lecture) but I can’t for some reason (i.e. I am still on
the wait-list for lab and the only way I can register for lecture is if I concurrently register for lab).
A. You need a corequisite override from the instructor of the lecture (Janet Loxterman, Jennifer Abbruzzese or Catherine
Black). Please contact the instructor of the course (Biol 1101 Lecture) for which you have received the notification.

A. Corequisite overrides are NOT being granted for Biol 1101L (lab). You will need to wait until you have received an
email notification for Biol 1101 (lecture). Once you have registered for lecture you can register for a lab section when
one becomes available.
Q. BengalWeb/Banner will not let me register for Biol 1101/Biol1101L.
A. The class is full (closed). Add yourself to the wait-list and then wait for an automatically generated email notification
telling you that you can register. You will need to check your email daily. Instructions for how to get on the waitlist for a
closed class ( “C”) can be found on the Central Academic Advising website http://www.isu.edu/advising/ under the
Forms and Handouts link and the heading “Registration”.
Q. I can’t add myself to the Biol 1101/Biol1101L wait-list.
A. The wait-list is full. Check Bengal Web daily to see if you can add yourself to the wait-list.
Q. I really need Biol 1101/Biol 1101L. Can anything be done to help me get in?
A. Registration is automated through the Bengal Web/Banner system. Instructors are unable to manually add students
to either Biol 1101 or Biol 1101L. Your name must reach the top of the lecture and lab wait-lists before you will be
allowed to register. The system is set up to ensure that everyone takes lecture and lab concurrently. Please check your
ISU email daily for an automated email notification that you can register.
Q. I need to switch labs because the lab I originally registered for no longer fits my schedule. What can I do?
A. There are two options:
1. You can drop the section for which you are registered and add another section that fits your schedule. Do this
following the directions listed here: http://www.isu.edu/tigeri/bengalweb/registrationinstructions.shtml. Remember
you need to add and drop at the same time or you will be dis-enrolled from lecture.
2. You will need a corequisite override from the instructor of lecture (Janet Loxterman, Jennifer Abbruzzese or Catherine
Black). The override will allow you to drop the lab for which you are registered without being dropped from lecture. You
can then register for the lab that you want at a later date when it becomes available.
Q. Can I take lecture and lab on different campuses?
A. No, lecture and lab must be taken on the same campus. That means, you are not allowed to attend a lecture in
Pocatello and lab in Idaho Falls or a lab in Pocatello and a lecture in Idaho Falls.
Q. I am unable to attend the first lab because of an ISU sponsored activity. What should I do?
A. Please contact the Biol 1101 lab coordinator (Jessica Fultz).
