Grand Rapids, Minnesota The IOSP Summer Jazz Camp is a day camp designed for strings players with a classical, folk, or bluegrass background who have at least three years prior experience with a stringed instrument. The camp is being held at Grand Rapids High School. Each day will include instruction and ensemble with optional opportunities to observe and participate in jam sessions in the evenings. The Showcase Concert will be held at 7:30 pm at Itasca Community College’s Davies Theater. The camp features instruction by Tim Kliphuis, one of the world’s best jazz violinists and a skilled educator with support from some of Minnesota’s most versatile strings players. Students will explore the subjects of jazz and improvisation and will learn new techniques and theory that will not only expand their repertoire but also enhance their understanding and ability in their primary area of study – whether it is classical, folk, or bluegrass.
