WELCOME, DUDES (AND DUDETTES)!
Like, thank you for joining us as we prepare to blast you back to the 1980s “promstyle” at the 2014 Davis Parent Nursery School Auction. We hope you enjoy the
food, the company, the dancing, and the atmosphere that we—with the help of the
’80s—have provided for you.
Tonight you will begin your “Journey” by viewing and bidding on the toooh-tally
tubular silent auction items on display in the Club Room and the outside
Courtyard, followed by the raffle and live auction in the Multi-Purpose Room.
This evening was made possible by the efforts and generosity of so many. We’d like
to extend our “Open Arms” and “Hearts” to all of our participating parents,
returning alumni, generous donors, and community members for their enthusiastic
support. Our solicitors began acquiring many of these tubular items before many
of you had even heard the word "auction." Our decorating crew jumped in,
including the session children, to help make them extra special and rad. Hot dog!
Our caterer has provided a plethora of culinary delights sure to please your palate,
and make you smile. Our families have given their time, energy, and talents to
create a variety of fantastic items for your bidding pleasure. And last of all, many,
many association members will be working to make sure the evening is a complete
success, from setting up and decorating the Veterans’ Memorial Center (even the
bathrooms), to checking you in, recording the winning bids, creating great music
and photographs to enjoy while you visit with friends, and making your check-out
process smooth and organized.
Tonight “it’s time to celebrate” the generosity, creativity, spirit, and sense of
community that embodies DPNS. And while it’s true that the highest bidder will
win a particular item, the real winner tonight is our school. So show your “True
Colors” and raise your “record” bid number high!
If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice!

DPNS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss
it.”—Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Welcome, one and all, to the best trip down memory lane you have had in a while.
Thank you to those who contributed to this BLAST FROM THE PAST! Every
detail of this uniquely themed auction came from some very creative individuals.
We appreciate all the time and energy that you put into what is sure to be a
TOTALLY TUBULAR event.
This catalog is full of some creative and considerate items. Mentally take note of
your favorites, but also keep in mind potential gift ideas. The silent auction is
complete with a variety of items that are useful and affordable. The live auction is
the part of the evening where the fun begins! One thing to keep in mind during the
evening is that ALL the money made at the auction goes to the school.
The DPNS annual auction was designed as a fun event for parents to get together
and fundraise for the school. Fundraising events of this nature were initiated once
we broke ground at our 8th Street site in 1949. Those parents who started DPNS
knew we needed a fun way to raise funds to cover the cost of: building and
maintaining a school, credentialed educators, and affordable tuition. Sixty-five years
later we have the same goals in mind. This is ALL for the children. So raise your
bid cards HIGH and ENJOY!!

We are also sincerely grateful for Julie Tillman of Tillsey Web Designs. Julie is a
5-Day mom, and the web administrator for DPNS, and still found time to make
us feel like “we” were her only job. She was our cheerleader along the way, and was
incredibly responsive to any and all of our questions and requests, no matter how
large or small. She always went above and beyond her regular duties and always
with a kind word and smile. Thank you, Julie. Rah, rah, rah!
A big thanks to the Davis High School Grad Night coordinators for letting us
enter the “decorations vault” and borrow decorations with a warm smile and open
arms (and storage locker doors). Though DPNS is part of the school district, we
are not usually paired with the high school (our kids have a while to go, right?), so
it was really nice to be able to be a part of the wonderful school community in a
different kind of way. We too plan on giving back, and donating our purchased
decorations to the vault, for other schools to be able to enjoy in the future. Thank
you.
A gavel thanks to our auctioneer, Thomas Hayward, for making the journey from
Reno to support our event, and for lending his professional auctioneering skills to
help raise money for your beloved schools.
Thank you, thank you, Wilson Lam and the Copyland team. He has been our goto guy for all of our printing needs and was incredibly helpful and prompt with all
our requests. Please consider them for your affordable print jobs in Davis. Really.
Lastly, a big shout-out to the UC Davis Dinning Services for donating all of the
linens at the event. What a wonderful community we live in!

THE LOGISTICS
You'll receive a bidder number when you check in the night of the event. To
place a bid during the Silent Auction, write your bid number on the bid form
displayed with each item. During the silent auction, if auction officials designate
your bid as the highest, this also forms a legal contract to purchase the item. If
you really want an item and don’t want to be outbid then you may write in your
own bid for an amount higher than listed or write your bidder number in the
box next to “Buy It Now.” The “Buy It Now” will override any previous bids
(except overbids) and will close that item for the night.
The Live Auction will begin after the silent auction closes and will continue
until all items have been auctioned. To participate in the live auction, hold your
bid card in the air so the auctioneer (and our wandering bid-spotters) can see the
number. Special projects created by each preschool session will be on display.
Please be aware that if the live auctioneer accepts your bid, you've entered a legal
contract to purchase the item.
Our check-out volunteers will record all bid sheets and have them ready by 9:30
p.m. At check-out, you can pay by check, cash, or credit card, but you must pay
in full. We strongly prefer cash or checks, as credit card fees lessen the amount of
profit that benefits DPNS. Please take all items home with you on the night of
the event. All auction purchases are final. Sorry, no exchanges or refunds. Unless
otherwise noted, services or events that you purchase expire within one year of
the auction date.
Each person who is issued a bid number assumes all risks and hazards related to
the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold
harmless from any liability Davis Parent Nursery School and the Davis Joint
Unified School District, its elected and appointed officials, members, and
employees, the auctioneer, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers
connected with it.

Tahoe Blue Water Filtration System: Tahoe Blue filters are
specially designed to remove everything a carbon filter removes,
but also do a lot more. Tahoe Blue filters have extremely long life
spans. Typical Tahoe Blue drinking water filters last about 7000
gallons. That is almost 10 years if your family drinks 2 gallons of
water per day. When combined with other filters, they provide
water that is just one step below reverse osmosis quality. They are
great when used for refrigerator filters, or as an inexpensive way to
treat water at various sinks around the house. Tahoe Blue filters
reduce heavy metals. Iron, lead, mercury, chromium, arsenic,
selenium, copper, etc. are all removed or reduced with Tahoe Blue
filters. They reduce sulfur smells as well. When applied to
chlorinated water, they remove up to 10 times more chlorine than
carbon filters. Includes filtration unit.
