We are pleased to announce our spring 2015 Toy, Doll & Advertising auction. For nearly 50 years, James D. Julia has been at the forefront of the auction industry in all four of our specialty divisions, regularly offering fresh-to-the-market quality groupings for the astute collector. This time around, highlights include a select grouping of early American tin, pressed steel and cast iron toys, several of which come from the collection of the late Laurence Hapgood. Laurence was a judicious collector focusing on quality, condition and rarity. This will be joined by selections from other quality east coast collections including mechanical and still banks, automotive & horse drawn toys, etc. as well as a massive 41” Marklin “Olympia” clockwork ocean liner. Also up for bid will be a variety of top shelf dolls including French and German character bisque dolls including Bru, Jumeau, Kestner, Steiner and others. These will be joined by a generous selection of rare coin-op machines including a rare Double Dewey slot machine, a rare and desirable Busy Bee trade stimulator plus other gambling, vending, and arcade pieces. Fine music machines include cylinder, disc, and phonographs (including a Wurlitzer 1015 jukebox). The sale is rounded out by an offering of antique advertising signs, calendars and displays, salesman samples including agricultural implements, a single-owner collection of nearly 200 Victorian figural napkin rings, and more.
