Candidate’s Message
I had this dream a while back that I might help elect 5 NDP MLAs within our Edmonton
Griesbach federal riding. Well, that happened, and so did a whole heck of a lot more.
With Deron Bilous, David Eggen, Brian Mason, Chris Nielsen, and Heather Sweet,
we knocked on a lot of doors, on cold nights and warm summer days, and they showed
me how committed they are to make this province a better place.
I’m really energized by the shift in this province, and I’m so proud that we’ve now got
a diverse government caucus that truly represents Alberta: one with an incredible leader
in Rachel Notley, one with the most women ever, one that’s youthful, one that represents
LGBTQ voices, and one that’s committed to partnering with Alberta’s indigenous
peoples.
Our Edmonton Griesbach team has been working hard on our campaign for a long time,
and I’m more excited than ever about the possibilities. The federal election in October is
not too far away, so we’ll need your help if we’re going to keep up this momentum.
We’ve painted Edmonton orange provincially. I can’t wait to do the same federally.

After the stunning success of our Alberta NDP, the momentum is being felt in our federal
party. Here in the riding of Edmonton Griesbach, we can show our own readiness to help our
own hard-working and talented candidate, Janis Irwin, become our Member of Parliament.
The Annual General Meeting will be followed by a program featuring Janis and guest speaker
NDP MP Matthew Kellway, who is the Official Critic for Urban Affairs and Infrastructure.
Representing the Ontario riding of Beaches-East York, he is a key member of Tom Mulcair’s
team and is in charge of a portfolio that resonates here in Edmonton. He wrote the NDP’s
Urban Agenda, which promotes fairer and more sustainable cities. Come enjoy the evening
