CAMP
Aug. 3-7 & 10-14
2015
Sponsored by the Jefferson
County Historical Society
Fort Worden State Park, Port Townsend, WA
After five highly successful years, the
J.C.H.S. is again offering its “Join the
Regiment” History Camp. Open to all
boys and girls, 8 - 12 years old. We are
centered at Fort Worden and the Commanding Officer’s Quarters Museum.
The camp will focus on the military and
social history of Puget Sound and provide a “soft” version of what life was
like in the Army at the turn of the 20th
century.
The program will provide lots of physical activities as well as craft and skill
enhancing projects in a fun and educational atmosphere. This year we will
offer a number of oceanside activities
such as a “Beach Scavenger Hunt” and
a “Beach Hut Building Contest”.
The J.C.H.S. History Camp will take
place daily for 5 1/2 hours. The
hours are: 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. The
campers will need a light jacket or sweater, a backpack, comfortable walking
shoes and a sack lunch every day.
A sack lunch is not needed on Thursday
when lunch will be provided.
And . . . except for Wednesdays when
we will have our field trip to Fort Casey.
Parents will need to drop their campers off at the Port Townsend/Coupeville Ferry Dock by 9:30 am, and pick
up their campers at 5:00 pm.
Families may sign up for one or both
sessions.
