Spring is officially here! Sassafras roots are being dug!
We are quickly approaching the 52nd Annual Sassafras
Tea Festival and Civil War Living History! This year’s
Festival will take place on April 25th and 26 th and
marks the 150th Anniversary to the end of the Civil
War. There will be many fun and exciting activities for

Indiana. From Interstate 65, take the Seymour/North Vernon Exit (number ) east to North
Vernon on U. S. Highway 50. At the junction of U. S. Highway 50 and Highways 3/7, travel south
approximately two miles to Vernon.

Our Purpose
The Jennings County Historical Society is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization formed in 1961 to
“present, preserve and document the history of Jennings County”. Society headquarters and historical
museum, the North American House is a high quality history center and museum located in
historic Vernon, Indiana.
