It also has quizzes for recapitulation of the concepts. Educlick RMS: It is an innovative cell-phone like apparatus with student remote and master remote which engages students and teachers alike. Teacher can conduct quizzes with elimination rounds, bazaar rounds etc. Grades appear at the end of the test for effective feedback. It can be used wirelessly in a class room. I – boards in each Class room : SMART LEARNING: The classrooms are equipped with smart boards keeping in mind the varied learning needs and for the overall development of the students. LANGUAGE LABORATORIES: The language labs boast of up-to-date technology in terms of hard ware software and networking. They go a long way in assisting the students to enhance their language skills The I-Board is an interactive whiteboard. Uses for the Smart Board include teaching, training, conducting meetings, and delivering presentations. Teachers feel very comfortable using I-board. I-board has many tools like searchlight, magnifier, inbuilt pictures, mathematical tools, screen shade, auto shapes, hand writing recognition, geometrical recognition etc, which caters to the visual, Auditory and kinesthetic learners. It also helps the teachers to gain students attention most of the time and helps in reinforcement of the concept. English Lab:The English Language Lab aims to enhance proficiency in Spoken English through activity-based learning. The Lab organizes a host of contests right through the year to promote confidence-building and personality development. The main objective of this lab is to provide a platform for students to communicate effectively and facilitate the student to hone their skills. Clarity English and Globearena are the softwares used in the lab. In the lab, the student listens to the lessons pre-recorded by experts. Topics such as accent, rhythm, intonation, consonants and vowels are dealt with separately and extensively. This is followed by an exercise. After listening to the pre-recorded voice, the student can record his/her own voice and compare the correctness of his/her pronunciation. In the teacher module, the teacher can design the lessons according to the need of the student and add new words or sentences for practice, communicate with the student from the teacher module, review the work of the student and maintain the record of the students separately and design student evaluation tests. Annual Report for the year 2013-14 JHKS The student strength is 384 and there are 16 trained teachers. We have introduced Music, Arts and Dance by professional teachers for the children so that children will be able to have a proper exposure at an early stage and pick up some of these fine arts in their later stage. We have also appointed a fine arts expert exclusively for ‘creative arts’ for these children. JHPS The student strength is 2339 and there are 124 trained teachers. During this academic year, 175 students have appeared for CBSE Class-X Board Examinations and secured 100% pass percentage this year also. 50 students have secured A1 Grade and 12 students among them have achieved Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 10/10. JHSDC Jubilee Hills Skill Development Centre (JHSDC) has stabilized its operations in this academic year. PROGRAMMES • POGIL POGIL stand for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning which is an activity based strategy for teaching and learning. POGIL provides a Student Centered Methodology and structure that is consistent with the way people learn and achieve. POGIL workshops were conducted by Dr. Daniel Libby and Dr. Cliffton Kussmaul, American Professors who are experts in this Pedagogy and were supported by Ms. Sandhya Kode, Managing Committee Member, Jubilee Hills Public School. • CIPS & JHES 7th December, 2013 saw a monumental event at JHPS – an event in which 17 famous personalities were invited to enlighten and educate students from over 40 schools & junior colleges. This inspiring event was conducted by JHES in collaboration with the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS). The evening of 7th December 2013 saw the Inauguration of the AV studio and the labs for senior secondary Physics, Chemistry and Biology. An evening program, ‘Interaction with Distinguished Social Innovators’ was organized. • CBSE -ASL & OTBA ASL (Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills) CBSE in collaboration with Trinity College, London has brought out a new format for conducting assessment of speaking and listening for classes IX and XI. OTBA (Open Text Based Assessment) The CBSE has introduced an element of Open Text Based Assessment for classes IX and XI in March, 2014 Examination. These are meant to incorporate analytical and theoretical skills, thus moving away from memorization. • Internet Security A work shop on spreading awareness on Internet Security was held by Ms. Aarathi and Mr. Shashank Bajpai from C-DAC for our students. The workshop was based on spreading awareness about constantly increasing rates of cyber-crime in the world. • Career Guidance Fair Jubilee Hills Public School organized a career Guidance Fair in March 2013 for the students & parents of classes VIII to XI with an objective to give the required career guidance to prepare for life. Eminent people, who have curved a niche for themselves in their professional spheres, counseled the outgoing batch on how to make a right career choice. • Gender sensitization Workshop on gender sensitization was conducted for the teachers in the school by the Student Health counselor Ms. T.Aarthi. The main aim of the workshop was to enable teachers to break free from the gender stereotypes bias and help contribute to making a liberated society. CBSE health and wellness club also organized a “Gender Sensitization” workshop for the students of class X and Women Empowerment workshop for the senior secondary students • Alumni meet The total number of Alumni who have enrolled has reached 1000.The Alumni day was celebrated on 29th December 2013 and Mr.Kanthi Rana DCP, Madhapur presided over the function. Teacher Training: Jubilee Hills Skill Development Centre: The Jubilee Hills Skill Development Centre, an off shoot of Vidya Darpan- A Teacher Enrichment Programme started in 2010. In the school’s endeavour to give the best to the students and in its quest for this it was felt that two criteria had to be met; teacher training and student enrichment. Teacher training is a must as it would build the confidence of the teachers, enable the teacher to understand the students and help the teachers hone their skills constantly to enhance class room interactions. Student enrichment where the student is helped to realize and utilize his/her potential to the utmost. Vision: To nourish the inherent talent and explore untapped areas to produce experts. Objective: To provide in-house training as part of continuous overall development of teaching skills among the teachers. Training: Both in-house and guest Resource persons are invited from eclectic fields to train and enhance the skills of both the staff and the students.The Skill Developments is growing by leaps and bounds. It has also conducted an in-house Student Centric STEP( Strategic Teacher Empowerment Programme)-a 30 day module in which teachers were trained in various relevant areas Student Centric- Strategic Teacher Empowerment Program.(S.T.E.P) A 30 day Student Centric Strategic Teacher Empowerment Programme was conducted as part of teacher training by the Jubilee Hills Skill Development centre from January 2nd to April 18th2013.The sessions were conducted as a part of a 30 day STEP module . Training classes in English language were conducted with sessions on Public Speaking ,teaching methodologies, behavior management, English pronunciation, writing and implementing lesson plans effectively etc. Ms. Aarthi – the school counselor also conducted a session on how imperative it is for teachers to refrain from meting out corporal punishments to the students. She also suggested ways in which teachers can handle disruptive students. The 30 days STEP workshops culminated with a Yoga workshop conducted by a well known Yoga practitioner and teacher Mr. Srikanth who taught the teachers some valuable asanas and meditation techniques to handle stress and also to solve their common medical problems FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS 1. All the teachers expressed their satisfaction with the 30 day intensive training workshops that were conducted. They were excited and enthusiastic to incorporate changes in their classrooms. 2. Many teachers expressed that more such training sessions should be held in the school. 3. Some of the teachers felt that they should be given the names of reference books that they can look up and websites they can browse, in order to gain more knowledge and get their doubts cleared. They also felt that looking up this material would help them prepare for forth coming sessions. S.T.E.P 2013 was a concrete step towards empowering the teachers further. The focus was on assisting and empowering teachers to do workshops for their colleagues on various modules that included communication in the class room, discovering one’s potential as a teacher becoming the favorite teacher of the students without being a pushover, anger and stress management, effective technology usage etc. Apart from this various seminars and workshops and career guidance fairs are conducted on an ongoing basis. These workshops are based on communication skills, gender sensitization, career counseling, Health and nutrition etc. JHSDC also conducts after school activities for various games, sports, music, arts etc. Other trainings and workshops attended: 1.
