Did you know the average child spends less than 30 minutes a day outside, 4 hours playing video games, 4 ½ hours watching TV and 82 minutes on a phone? It’s time to change those numbers. Enjoy summer camp in a park-‐like setting that’s just around the corner. We offer a safe, structured, and supervised get-‐away-‐-‐ so you have peace of mind and your kids have FUN! Your child will make new friends, learn new things and build their confidence! Week 1: (June 8th – June 12th ) DOWN ON THE FARM We know that Old MacDonald had a farm, but what’s it like to be down on the farm? Campers will discover what it was like to live on a farm a long time ago. Do you know what it takes to bring our food and produce from seed to market? Are you ready to try your hand at planting, milking a cow, making homemade ice cream or a leather coin pouch? Horses, cows, pigs and sheep will have us city slickers singing E-‐I-‐E-‐I-‐OHHH! Week 2: (June 15th – June 19th) SPORTS & FORCE (The Science Behind the Game) Dayton is famous for inventing Flight so this week we will play with things that Fly! We will learn about aerodynamics, make some non-‐traditional flying machines and see some real planes. Campers will have the opportunity to fly Frisbees, Kites, Whirly Birds and paper airplanes. The Wright Brothers would be proud of our take off and our landing. UP, UP and AWAY! Week 4: (June 29th -‐ July 2nd) CSI/WHODUNNIT? (Closed July 3rd) Immerse yourself in the world of Sports! Campers will have fun on and off the field—studying friction and gravity and speed. How does temperature affect the bounce of a ball? What principle is involved in making a disc fly? What muscles do you use to play soccer, baseball, volleyball or tennis? How are you at keeping your eye on the ball? Do you have what it takes to be a team player and to stretch your knowledge of the game? By the end of the week your play book will be full of fun facts. See you on the field! Week 3: (June 22nd – June 26th) AVIATION ADVENTURES Sherlock Holmes step aside, this mystery is ours to solve. We’ll try our hand at dusting for fingerprints and tracking footprints. Campers will learn that “timing is everything” while discovering ways to recognize time without using a clock. Let’s see if you are as good a sniffer as a K-‐9. We’ll measure the distance you can trace a scent. How are your skills at decoding secret communications or analyzing handwriting? What shall I chose-‐-‐Legos or Play Doh? Can’t decide? No need too, just bring your imagination and we’ll bring all the Legos and Play Doh you can handle. You can build a house or pyramid or car. For those who are 8 or more how about building a Robot that you program to move? With Play Doh that’s Orange, Strawberry, Banana and Grape, we will roll and cut and press and shape. Let the artist and sculptor in you loose! We’ll have our Lego Robotics demonstation by weeks end, and also award the Blue ribbon for the most creative Play Doh masterpiece! Week 6: (July 13th -‐July 17th) MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS Cha-‐Ching! That’s the sound of your camper making $$$. Do you have a budding entrepreneur in your house? Campers will have fun learning what it takes to start & run a business of their own. From Product, to Pricing, to Production to Promotion, they will do it all. Campers will develop skills for life—budgeting, leadership, sales, public speaking. Everybody loves Friday, because it’s PAYDAY! You can take that to the bank. th th Week 7: (July 20 -‐July 24 ) EXTRAVAGANZA Typical Schedule What happens when Six Weeks of summer camp collides with an Extra week? -‐ -‐ An EXTRAVAGANZA of course. This week will be Explosive and Festive. We’ll do a potpourri of things, like making giant bubbles & soda fountains, along with bouncing high & dunking low. We’ll splash and swing. But no summer is complete until I scream and you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream.
