PROTESTERS IN ARIZONA
CALL THE PRESIDENT A
“NEGROE”
Why is it always
Arizona that
makes National
headlines when
it comes to disrespecting the
President?
Conservatives protesting President Obama’s visit to Arizona referred to the
President as a “half-white Muslim,” a “47% Negro,” and shouted “Bye bye
black sheep!” Arizona has a growing record of being one of the most racist,
and extreme, states in the US.
As President Barack Obama spoke in Phoenix Tuesday about responsible
home ownership, hundreds of people stood outside protesting his policies,
many shouting and carrying racially charged chants and signs. The president
was in Phoenix to propose an overhaul of the nation’s mortgage finance system and the recovering housing market.
Brewer famously wagged her index finger at Obama
during a contentious runway meeting in January 2012.
Looks like someone took her through Home Training
101.

she expects me to help her with her materialistic shopping habits. I played the role
for a minute but now my funds are coming up short cuz this is just ridiculous. My
female barely making it but when she got paid she went out and got a pair of Christian
Louboutins in her silly mind she trying to keep up with the celebrities. Now she back

The only urban news I get is from the Write Up and when I get it I find out all I need

Wow is all this stuff really going on all around me if so we live in a crazy world.
I really long for a time when we didn't have intimate access to celebrities on their
twitter, facebook or instagram they really know how to act out. I know this email is
probably too boring to make it in the “Speak on it” column but I’m writing it anyway
because I just love the newspaper. A big thank you to the entire staff at the Write Up.

WriteUp Newspaper,
I can’t figure you guys out one minute you talking about Jay Z and the next minute
you praising him. What is it make up your freaking mind (WriteUp)I’m beginning to
worry about you guys over there. The bottom line is JAY is a Baffoon, I never forget
after he won a grammy for N%#$$% In paris, he had his shades on and cigar in his
mouth cooning so proud backstage like he made his white masters proud or something, like that song was his lifelong achievement, a song that reinforced that every
black person was a “N” word. I have zero respect for his hustle. Quite frankly I think
he sucks up to white corporate men to get these deals. The dude is a self hating jigga
boo. Now print this in your newspaper.

We here at the Write Up feel that it is necessary to celebrate Black History every day of

The Colfax Massacre
The Colfax Massacre occurred on April 13, 1873. The
battle-turned-massacre took place in the small town
of Colfax, Louisiana as a clash between blacks and
whites. Three whites and an estimated 150 blacks died
in the conflict.
The massacre took place against the backdrop of racial
tensions following the hotly contested Louisiana governor's race of 1872. While the Republicans narrowly
won the contest and retained control of the state, white
Democrats, angry over the defeat, vowed revenge. In
Colfax Parish (county) as in other areas of the state,
they organized a white militia to directly challenge the
mostly black state militia under the control of the governor.
Colfax Parish reflected the political and racial divide
in Louisiana. Its 4,600 voters in the 1872 election were
split between approximately 2,400 hundred mostly
black Republican voters and 2,200 white Democratic
voters. One incident however, touched off the Colfax
massacre. On March 28, local white Democratic leaders called for armed supporters to help them take the
Colfax Parish Courthouse from the black and white
GOP officeholders on April 1. The Republicans responded by urging their mostly black supporters to defend them. Although nothing happened on April 1, the
next day fighting erupted between the two groups.
On April 13, Easter Sunday, more than 300 armed
white men including members of white supremacist
organizations such as the Knights of White Camellia
and the Ku Klux Klan, attacked the Courthouse building. When the militia maneuvered a cannon to fire on
the Courthouse, some of the sixty black defenders fled
while others surrendered. When the leader of the attackers, James Hadnot, was accidentally shot by one
of his own men, the white militia responded by shooting the black prisoners. Those who were wounded in
the earlier battle, particularly black militia members,
were singled out for execution The indiscriminate killing spread to African Americans who had not been at
the courthouse and continued into the night.
Approximately
150 African
Americans were
killed including 48
who were
murdered after the
battle. Only three
whites were killed
in the Colfax
Massacre
All told, approximately 150 African Americans were
killed including 48 who were murdered after the battle.
Only three whites were killed, and few were injured in
the largely one-sided battle of Colfax.
On April 14, the state militia under the control of Republican Governor William Kellogg arrived at the
scene and recorded the carnage. New Orleans police
and federal troops also arrived in the next few days
to reestablish order. A total of 97 white militia men
were arrested and charged with violation of the U.S.
Enforcement Act of 1870 (also known as the Ku Klux
Klan Act). A handful of them were convicted but were
eventually released in 1875 when the U.S. Supreme
Court in United States v. Cruikshank ruled the Enforcement Act was unconstitutional. No one was ever
arrested by the state of Louisiana or by local officials.

Egypt's interim vice president, Mohamed ElBaradei,

In a resignation letter to Interim President Adly Mansour, ElBaradei said that "the beneficiaries of what happened today are those who call for violence, terrorism

Well, with the power of numerology, you can. All you
have to know is the person’s first name and more specifically the first vowel of their name. This will give you
insight into what motivates that person. Every month we

Attorney General Eric Holder announced sweeping

"We need to ensure that incarceration is used to punish, deter and rehabilitate - not merely to convict,

Malcolm Latif Shabazz
(Oct. 8, 1984 – May 9, 2013)
Malcolm Latif Shabazz
(October 8, 1984 – May
9, 2013) was the son of
Qubilah Shabazz, the
second daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz. He was the first
male descendant of Malcolm X. In 1997, when
he was 12 years old,
Shabazz set fire to the
apartment of his grandmother, Betty Shabazz,
causing her death.
16
years later his badly beaten body turns up on
Plaza Garibaldi street which is known in Mexico as
a busy tourist spot. For some strange reason no one
is talking about the murder probably because many
people don’t even know about it to TALK ABOUT IT!
N
ews reports say Miguel Suarez, a Mexican labor
leader deported from the United States in April, was
hosting Mr. Shabazz in Mexico. They were allegedly
drinking in the Palace Bar when presented with a bill
for 15,000 pesos or $1,200 and an argument and fight
ensued. Mr. Shabazz later died at a hospital from his
injuries.
P
etitioners want the last 24 to 72 hours of Mr. Shabazz’s life and steps upon his entering Mexico retraced
and the truth about who actually murdered him. “This
is a very grave matter and those of us who have signed
this petition are scrutinizing the U.S. government very
closely for their lack of interest and/or coverage of this
young man’s savage beating and murder in a foreign
country,” said sponsors of a Change.org petition. The
petition is for Secretary of State John Kerry.

Paula Deen Go Sit Down
Somewhere and Stop the Lies
Okay enough already Paula Deen has been caught lying
a number of times in the past few months. If we could
take a moment of silence and ask Paula Deen to please
stop the LIES!
Paula Deen once had a black employee dressed like
Aunt Jemima and ring a dinner bell in front of her restaurant reminiscent of slavery days. Paula denies this
when there are pictures to prove it!
Nothing is too good for Kim Kardashian and Kanye
West. Sources say the couple have splashed out
$75,000 on gold-plated toilets for their new Bel Air
mansion. That ish cray!
Paula Deen has been accused of asking black kitchen
workers to wear Aunt Jemima-style outfits while working in the restaurant that made her a star. Yep Paula
denies this too!
Dora Charles, Deen’s longtime chef of 22 years, claimed
that African American staff were also asked to ring a
bell while hollering ‘come and get it’ in a throwback to
the past.
Deen, whose career is in freefall after admitting using
the N-word, denied the claims and said that Charles was
just after more money.
Deen’s $17m a year empire continues to crumble. She
has been dropped by The Food Network along with
corporate sponsors like Walmart, Home Depot, pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk and her book publisher. Guess what she then fired her entire legal team.
Transgender
Controversy Blows
Up in BET’s Face
Earlier this month transgender media personality B.
Scott filed a discrimination lawsuit against BET for
forcing him to tone down his makeup and change into
more masculine clothing in the middle of hosting a
fashion segment for the BET Awards. B. Scott speaks
about his lawsuit on MSNBC.
B. tells MSNBC,
“It’s really sad that people have to go through something like this in 2013 when we’ve seen all different
types of personalities. I’m not the first of my kind.
There has been Michael Jackson, Prince, Grace Jones
and the list goes on. So this is really shocking to me.”
SIDE NOTE: Did he just put his name in
the same sentence as Michael Jackson?

A. Bizzles Quote of the Month
“Don’t be the CLOUD in
someones RAINBOW”
This month I would like to encourage everybody to do something nice for someone
you don’t know. Case in point, I was at a Circle K gas station and my debit card didn’t
work at the pump so I had to physically go inside which to me is time consuming and
something I despise doing.....but you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyhow the line
was super long and of course they only had one lady working the counter while the
other worker was out jacking around. While standing in line I made an announcement
asking if they were hiring because it was apparent they needed help. The lady at the
counter looked at me and shook her head and pointed at the gentleman that was holding up the line. It was an older gentleman that was counting money out of a sock who
was attempting to buy a fountain drink, 2 hot dogs and a bag of chips. Folks in line
were being aggressive and impatient waiting on him to count out the money. I took
initiative and stepped to the front of the line and told the cashier that I needed $39 on
pump #13 and that I wanted to pay for the mans items. Yep I did it like a true boss and
the man thanked me and I kept it moving. Something to you may seem little but to
others it can really make their day. PAY IT FORWARD!!!
Talent at its BEST!!!
OOOOOH WEEEEEE......did yall here about the two protesters who set up shop outside The Mrs. Carter Show at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. warning concert
goers that Beyonce and Jay Z were possessed by demons. People really need to find a
cause that people care about like how come children of this generation are more obese
than the children of the previous generations. Get a life folks!
Since we are talking about the Carters have you guys heard Jay Z’s new record called
Holy Grail. Some of the beats are nice but his use of the “N” word is excessive. I
was at a stop light and had the CD playing and a white guy and his son were sitting
next to me and heard the lyrics ...the white guy just shook his head in disbelief and
rolled up his window. It was then that I felt ashamed and thought to myself if we as
a people don’t respect ourselves by using the “N” word how can we be mad at Paula
Deen for using it....let it marinate. Ask yourself if a white boy was listening to Jay Z
and was singing the lyrics to one of the songs and said the “N” word would you be
mad at him or let it ride. Please email me your answers I’m just curious to know what
your thought are on this matter.

What Tameka doesn’t know is that long before the court battle sparked by the unfortunate pool accident involving their 5-year-old son, Usher Raymond planned to take
ex-wife Tameka to court to lower his child support payments.
Well....Tameka Raymond is using the recent near drowning of Usher V as a way to get
custody. Well...well Usher Raymond retained primary custody of his two sons after
the judge dismissed Tameka’s request and ruled in favor of the pop singer.
According to ratchet TMZ ......Usher filed legal docs earlier this month asking a
judge to lower his child support payment to Tameka. As it stood, Usher was shelling out $8,000 a month for the couple's 2 sons ... which he claims is absurd. Here's
why ... Usher says that child support amount is from an old agreement and hasn't
been changed since he was granted PRIMARY custody last year. He says he's been
overpaying the last 7 months and wants a judge to remedy the situation. Usher requested a hearing on the matter -- but so far, no date has been set. Can somebody tell
me what these two children can do with $8,000 a month. But I betcha I can tell you
what Tameka can do with the money.....hair dun...nails dun...erythang’ dun! Want
money for the rest of your life get pregnant by a celebrity or a RICH MAN! OOOH
WHEEE word of the month T R I F L I N G. Well anyhoo I am going to sign off for
the month wishing continued blessings to all my loyal readers and please keep the
emails coming. I may still be working on reading some of them from last month but
for the most part I am 75% finished. When you write the long emails I kind of skim
through them so please keep them simple and to the point. And for the umpteenth
time no I am not married and I’ll leave it at that!

LETS GET SPIRITUAL
DID YOU REALLY GO ON VACATION?
DR.
MONICA
ENNIS
AUGUST 2013 Volume 112 BY DR. MONICA ENNIS
Have you ever experienced any of the
following?
Please email comments to:
[email protected]
INTRODUCTION
According to Dictionary.com, the word vacation is defined as: A period of suspension of work, study or other
activities usually used for rest, recreation or travel; recess or holiday and a time devoted to pleasure, rest or
relaxation, especially one with pay granted to an employee. Is there such a thing as a “working vacation?”
Sounds like an Oxymoron such as jumbo shrimp, hot
ice, pretty ugly and same difference. Vacation came
from the Latin word vacation/vacatio, from vacare, “to
be free, empty; to be at leisure, “around 1395, this term
entered Old English, meaning “rest and freedom from
any activity.” The point is that a vacation is meant to
be a time of rest and relaxation that is free from work
and a time devoted to pleasurable activities.
WHAT DID YOU PACK FOR YOUR
VACATION?
If you packed any job related work, reading materials
or projects along with your laptop, you
probably did not have a real vacation. Technology is
a blessing and a curse. There was a time when it was
just not possible to take your office, on vacation, with
you. Not anymore! Technology makes it possible for
people to do more work and do it faster. Cell phones
are like an umbilical cord that keeps the individual attached to the outside world and in constant communication. Some people send out hundreds of text messages each day, thus the need for unlimited texting. If
you live with anyone under 40 years of age you get it.
- Anger because you did not respond to a text message or
email that was sent late at night or early in the morning
before you woke up or got to work.
-Did you see my text/email that was sent two (2) minutes ago? No, because I was eating lunch.
-You never read your emails. I only get about 200 a day.
-You didn’t friend me and my 20 friends on your Facebook! I don’t even know those people!
-I sent you an Evite and you didn’t confirm or show. Really, who was it from?
-You said you would call me back. Sorry, I decided to
email you the information.
-Sry, I w/her## cuz?? We txtg all info OMG,.plz.
What?? What do you mean you couldn’t?
understand my text?
If you have experienced any of the above, just keep in
mind that you are not alone and the world will not come
to an end if miss a text message, email or voicemail.
Some people really do need to get a life.
A VACATION SHOULD BE A VACATION
People have forgotten how to relax. If you have a cell
phone that has email, etc. you can leave your laptop at
home when you go on vacation. I spent ten (10) days
in California visiting my family and I left my laptop
at home, on purpose. I relaxed, rested, watched some
movies, talked to people, attended some special events,
slept in late and had a fantastic time. When I returned to
Arizona I felt well rested and relaxed. I actually felt like
I had been on a vacation. I left all of my stress in Arizona and was much more prepared to deal with stressful
situations and people when I returned.
CONCLUSION
If you are preparing to take a vacation do the following
so that you really have a vacation.
-Leave all work related stuff at work or home.
-Try to leave the laptop at home.
-Inform people that you are going on vacation and will
see them when you return.
-Leave an out of office reply for your emails.
-Plan events and activities that are enjoyable and don’t
try to do too much during one visit.
-Take time to relax, smell the roses, enjoy meals, laugh
and talk to people.
-Don’t over pack. You can wear a pair of jeans twice.
-Don’t discuss work and all of your other problems while
you are on vacation. Maintain a positive attitude. You
are on vacation and your glass is half full.
-Plan a budget and don’t over spend. If you can’t trust
yourself, leave the credit card at home.
-Be grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a vacation and
no complaining.
Life is short and taking the time to enjoy each day is important. When dealing with any situation ask yourself,
“What difference will this make in 100 years?” So the
next time you go on vacation, try to relax, enjoy time
with family and friends and leave the work and stress at
home. When you return you will feel better and glad you
took this advice.

1/2 Small onion (chopped fine)
2 chopped Green Onion (include the green part)
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 cup Hellmans Mayonaise
1/2 cup sour cream

1 tsp. sugar
1 cup butter (must be BUTTER)
2 cups Dry Oatmeal
2 cups brown sugar 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 cups flour 8 cups or more good pie apples, sliced
Directions
Cube stale bread and scatter half of it in a 13"x9" aluminum pan.
Cut the cold cream cheese into small pieces and scatter it across and cover with remaining bread cubes. Mix
eggs, half & half, syrup and melted butter together. Poor
mixture over bread cubes. Press the bread cubes down
to absorb the mixture. Refrigerate overnight. In morning bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
Serve with syrup, jam or powdered sugar.
Servings: 6
In a large pot, cover the potatoes and eggs with water.
Bring to a boil , and cook til done. Do not over cook.
Peel eggs chop and put aside. After potatoes are peeled
and cooled. In a large bowl, cut potatoes into small cubes.
Add celery, relish, onions, green onions, celery seed, salt
and pepper, eggs, mayonnaise and sour cream. Carefully
stir this, so they are combined, careful not to break your
potatoes. I then stir in the sugar. (More sugar if you like

Refrigerate for several hour or over night. THE COLDER, THE BETTER.
Mix all, except apples, together, like pie crust, even rubbing together with fingers, till all blended.
Line 9" X 13" cake pan with 1/2 of mix. Fill with cut
up, cored, apples (peels may be left on for nutrition and
fiber. I always leave my peels on for pies too.)

against Jermaine Dupri after he defaulted
on a $4.9 million loan. Now JD is filing a
counter suit. Jermaine Dupri filed a counter claim against SunTrust Bank claiming
they were supposed to structure the loan using So So Def publishing royalties to pay
his Federal and State taxes. JD claims the
bank never paid his tax bills causing him
to be hit with multiple tax liens. Jermaine
also claims SunTrust restructured his loan

of his income. JD filed the counter suit because Sun Trust is trying to foreclose on his home and seize his assets without trying

Jermaine says, Sun Trust Bank took advantage of the fact that he never finished

Dear Basketball - Take the
Training Wheels Off
By Mark Armstrong
The backboard in basketball is an antiquated, obsolete piece of technology. Here’s what Wikipedia has
to say about technology. Technology is the making,
modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, and methods of
organization, in order to solve a problem, improve
a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal,
handle an applied input/output relation or perform a
specific function.
Alex Rodriguez, 12 other players
suspended by MLB
Alex Rodriguez has been suspended through the end of the
2014 season after a Major League Baseball investigation
determined he used and possessed testosterone and human
growth hormone over multiple years, for attempting to hide
his violations and for "a course of conduct intended to
obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioner," MLB
announced Monday afternoon.
The 211-game suspension is to go into effect ASAP.
Rodriguez will appeal the ban and has the backing of the
Major League Baseball Players Association.
"What I think they’re doing inappropriate is imposing a
penalty that is way too harsh," union executive director
Michael Weiner said in a media teleconference. "We’ve never
had a 200-plus penalty on a player who may have used drugs.
Among other things, I think that’s way out of line."
RGIII Caught Sexting on His Wedding Night?
RG 111’s side piece, a Hooters waitress named Meredith

Siohavaugh Wade staged a sit in protest against her
former husband Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade on
the street outside the court house in Chicago demanding more access to their two sons. On the custody
exchange following Siovaughn's little stunt Dwyane
refused to turn over their sons for a scheduled twoweek visit and instead filed an emergency motion
demanding Siovaughn submit to a psychological
evaluation or lose rights to her children permanently.
Dwayne Wade and Siohvaughn Funches-Wade have
been divorced for three years. Dwyane was awarded
full custody of their two sons in 2011.
Jennifer Richardson (29) who claims she held a year
long affair with Lamar opened up to Star magazine
about her relationship with the NBA pro, and even
offered up an apology to Khloe because she says she
can sympathize with her.
Even worse, Jennifer claims she’s not the only woman that Lamar has cheated on Khloe with, and she
wants her to know it.
My advice for Khloe would be to get a divorce. If
she thinks he’s going to change, she’s mistaken.”
Despite the explosive news of Jennifer’s affair with
Lamar, Khloe still wants to have a baby with him.
“Lamar led me to believe his marriage
was just a business arrangement.”
Basketball was initially played without a backboard
when the game was invented in 1891. The backboard became standard equipment in 1904 (the sibling of basketball, an offshoot once known as Women’s basketball and now called Netball is still played
without a backboard). The backboard was invented
to prevent fans from interfering with the flow of the
game. Since basketball was invented within the
YMCA system, the YMCA was instrumental in the
spread of the game. In each gymnasium they simply attached a peach basket to the balcony. Fans
would watch the game from balcony and at times
interfere with shot attempts or with the retrieving
of the ball.
The modern techniques of shooting ball were developed and refined over decades. It is easy to
imagine the first generation of players looking like
grade school kids struggling to shoot the ball with
a defender in their face. Can you imagine that? So
it is easy to see how the first few generations of basketball players depended upon the backboard like
training wheels.
Besides Tim Duncan, who is known to use the
backboard? The usage of the backboard has gone
the way of the Skyhook. The best examples are
our modern day forwards and guards. The greatest
players of the last generation rarely depend upon the
backboard, Kobe, Wade, James, Paul, Parker and
the list goes on. Think about it. Have you ever witnessed a sky walker hit his head on the backboard?
Get their head above the rim? Removing the backboard will allow access to the rim from all angles.
Opening the hoop up to all types of aerial assaults
and the development of new shots.
Basketball will be 122 years old this December. The
game has changed significantly since 1891. The
two most influential changes to the original game
were the introduction of the modern dribbling rules
and the backboard. The dribble opened up individual athleticism while the backboard has hindered the
development of shooting. If we take the training
wheels off a whole new set of skills and athleticism
will evolve. Making the game harder will serve as
the impetus to drive an evolution of scoring skills
and athleticism basketball fans have yet witness but
truly deserve.
This fall we will host a series a competitive recreational basketball events playing basketball WITHOUT backboards. These events will be promoted to
boys, girls, youth and young adults throughout the
Phoenix, AZ area. These events will serve as the
launch of a new basketball franchise with the purpose of leveraging basketball without backboards as
vehicles to make positive impact in the communities we serve. To learn more visit Change the Game

LITERARY CHOICE OF THE MONTH
WHATS GOOD ON TV THIS MONTH
Title: “The Butler”
Author: Wil Haygood
Buy this book online at:
www.amazon.com
www.barnesandnoble.com
ebay
target.com
When acclaimed Washington Post
writer Wil Haygood had an early
hunch that Obama would win the
2008 election, he thought he’d highlight the singular moment by exploring the life of someone who had come
of age when segregation was so widespread, so embedded in the culture as
to make the very thought of a black
president inconceivable. He struck
gold when he tracked down Eugene
Allen, a butler who had served no fewer than eight presidents, from Harry Truman
to Ronald Reagan. During his thirty-four years of service, Allen became what the
Independent described as a “discreet stagehand who for three decades helped keep the
show running in the most important political theatre of all.”
While serving tea and supervising buffets, Allen was also a witness to history as decisions about America’s most momentous events were being made. Here he is at the
White House while Kennedy contemplates the Cuban missile crisis; here he is again
when Kennedy’s widow returns from that fateful day in Dallas. Here he is when Johnson and his cabinet debate Vietnam, and here he is again when Ronald Reagan is
finally forced to get tough on apartheid. Perhaps hitting closest to home was the civil
rights legislation that was developed, often with passions flaring, right in front of his
eyes even as his own community of neighbors, friends, and family were contending
with Jim Crow America.
With a foreword by the Academy Award– nominated director Lee Daniels, The Butler
also includes an essay, in the vein of James Baldwin’s jewel The Devil Finds Work,
that explores the history of black images on celluloid and in Hollywood, and fiftyseven pictures of Eugene Allen, his family, the presidents he served, and the remarkable cast of the movie.

1. Trim Your Ends
To some women, trimming equals cutting, which may as well equal "No, Thank You." Done right, a trim only removes dead
ends, not whole chunks of hair. When you trim proactively, you reduce the chances that your ends become so dry and brittle
that a cut becomes necessary. Women who suffer from split ends have to cut them away before they break off on their own.
When split ends get out of control, they travel up the hair shaft, making a serious cut more likely. Instead, why not trim the
bottom 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair every two to three months?
2. Don’t Brush Hair While Wet
Just say “no” to brushing your hair when it’s soaking wet. Black hair is already fragile -- when wet, it’s in its weakest state.
It’s fine to comb through your hair while wet; in fact, the ideal state to comb is when it’s saturated with conditioner. But
brushing black hair stretches it sometimes to the point-of-no-return. A loud “snap” is the last thing you want to hear while
styling your hair.
3. Get Some Protein ASAP
Depending on the level of your breakage, a weekly protein strengthening treatment may be perfect, or you may need emergency measures if your hair is breaking at an alarming rate. Usually, chemical damage is behind real breakage emergencies.
An intense product like ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment can stop a lot of breakage in its tracks, but your hair may
still be far from healthy.
4. Let Your Stylist Apply Chemicals
Overlapping chemicals is a huge contributor to hair breakage. It can be tempting to apply permanent color and relaxers
yourself, especially if you’re trying to save money. It may get pricey to have a stylist perform these services, but when it
comes to chemical treatments, it’s worth it to have a professional do it. Save up for relaxer touch-ups and color, but you can
do most of your daily hair maintenance yourself. If you follow the recommended chemical service schedule, you should
only have a touch-up a minimum of every eight weeks, so it’s not like this is a weekly service.
5. Ease Up on Heat
Now hiring Telesales Reps for our office

$9 an hour on up

High heat = damage = breakage. Frequent heat = damage = breakage. See a pattern here? While curling irons, flat irons
and blow dryers make our lives easier, allowing us to wear just about any style we can think up, these tools can also cause
irrevocable damage when used too often or incorrectly. Constantly “bumping” your ends with an iron will weaken, thin and
break them over time. Using heat that’s way too hot even once can break your hair.
Use other methods of styling, such as wet setting on magnetic rollers or Curlformers. Wet wrap the
hair for a sleek look, or wet set with braids and twists for cool waves. Save the heat tools for special
occasions, and definitely no more than once a week.
