Student Testimonials
Sang Nguyen | Vietnam
Bachelor of Business (Management), Sydney Campus
“On the first day arriving at Sydney, I immediately fell in love with the vibe of this
city, the people and the unique mixture of Eastern and Western culture. What I like
most about Kent was the connected feeling between students, staff and the teachers.
Students may not get that in some universities, but at Kent you can sense that
everyone cares for each other, like a family. I graduated in December 2014.”
Assistant Manager, Kennard’s Self Storage, Australia
Jarmila Zuscikova | Slovakia
Bachelor of Business (Management), Sydney Campus
“I would really recommend the Sydney campus because of its convenient CBD location.
Kent was recommended to me when I decided to study higher education. I was very
satisfied with the course in terms of its affordability price, professional teachers and
helpful staff. I also liked Kent’s flexible timetable, which offered students a chance
to get work experience if they wished. The greatest challenge while I was studying
at Kent came from my teachers; top professionals in their field who teach students
theory through practical and useful materials.”
Irwan Kok | Indonesia
Bachelor of Accounting, Sydney Campus
“It is a challenge to juggle studies and other responsibilities, but with the help of
Kent’s staff and support, I am able to spend time with my family, work and still find
time to study. In the future, I hope to open my own accounting business and would
suggest to all students that study with Kent will set up your future career path. The
campus is close to my apartment and the helpful staff and lecturers are just some
of the reasons I chose to study at Kent. The Bachelor of Accounting program is also
accredited by the CPA so it gives me more options to work in my chosen profession
when I graduate. When I first started study I hated calculations but now I enjoy them
and I am passing all my subjects.”
Roshni Hemlani | Philippines

“Kent has a personal touch when it comes to its students and their overall learning
experience. The Academic Learning Support program has not only helped me, but the
many other students who have had to make adjustments, especially when it comes
to learning new methods of studying and teaching in a foreign country. The academic
and administrative staff are always approachable and supportive when it comes to
even the most minute of problems. Kent also has an amazing and diverse student
culture. I have met and made many friends from different parts of the world.”

Overseas Student Health Cover
If you’re in Australia on a student visa, you must have a current health insurance policy, this is known
as Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
Kent Institute of Business and Technology can offer you access to OSHC from our chosen provider
BUPA, visit the BUPA website for more information about their policies and fees.
http://www.bupa.com.au/health-insurance/cover/oshc
Kent will issue you a quote for health cover based on the current rates at the time of issue. This quote
will be listed on your offer letter, if you would like Kent to arrange health cover, all you need to do
is accept your offer and pay the insurance premium with your tuition deposit. You can also choose
to arrange your own health cover, however this will need to be completed before we will be able to
issue you a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Student Visa
To study in Australia, you must hold a valid student visa. All student visas as issued by the Australian
Government and there are key criteria that must be met before your visa will be granted.
Kent is a Streamlined Visa Processing provider (SVP). This means a Confirmation of Enrolment
(CoE) from Kent for selected student visa applications, will generally be subjected to reduced
evidentiary requirements by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). Our
Advance Diploma and Higher Education degree courses are eligible for SVP.
The regulations vary depending upon your country of origin and it’s best to check with your
local Kent representative or nearest Australian Embassy before you apply. More information about
student visas and the Streamlined Visa Process is available on the Department of Immigration and
Border Protection (DIBP) website, www.immi.gov.au
6
Living costs
As an international student you may be required to demonstrate or declare that you have genuine
access to sufficient funds to cover expenses for the first couple of years you will live in Australia. The
evidentiary requirement for this criteria will depend on your Student Visa Assessment Level. To find
out your visa assessment level you can go to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection
(DIBP) website, www.immi.gov.au.
How much you spend living in Australia will depend on your individual lifestyle. We estimate you’ll
need approximately $18,000 - $20,000 a year to live in Melbourne or Sydney.
Accommodation
There are a lot of rules, regulations, rights and responsibilities when it comes to accommodation in
Australia. It’s a good idea to seek advice before you sign any legal document like a lease.
Some students find it helpful if they source accommodation from a homestay family for the first
month they move to Australia. Others like to stay in special accommodation designed for the
student lifestyle. Quite a few like to go on their own and sign a lease with friends for an apartment
or a house. It is up to the student and their own personal taste to decide what is best for them. The
Kent website has some helpful links to assist students, so check it out www.kent.edu.au.
Australian Lifestyle
Kent’s campuses are located in Sydney and Melbourne. Both cities are known for their multicultural
acceptance and tend to have a lot of international visitors at any one time. Australia is a multicultural
country and guests are welcomed with open arms.
Adjusting to the weather in Australia can be confusing, Melbourne can sometimes have 4 seasons in
one day. The weather is unpredictable, but that’s just part of the city’s charm. You may need a jacket
in the morning but by the afternoon you can be sitting out enjoying the sun. It can get cold in winter
dropping down to 6 or 7 degrees celcius, but during summer normally is a warm 28 - 30.
Sydney is a little more predictable when it comes to the weather, summers tend to be warm with
the days between 20 and 30 degrees. In the winter it will normally only drop down to about 10 on a
cold night. Both cities boast a vibrant social atmosphere, a laid back life style and many free cultural
events throughout the calendar year.
Both Sydney and Melbourne are growing cities and they have about 4.5 million and 4 million
residents respectively. There is still plenty of open space and in both cities you will find parks and
office buildings within walking distance of each other. Australians are used to having open spaces
and enjoy the outdoors all year round.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Advanced Standing, Credit Exemptions
Students may be eligible to apply for
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL),
Advanced Standing or Credit Exemptions
depending on their level of study.
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
applies to Kent’s Vocational Education
Training (VET) programs. These are
Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced
Diplomas. If a student can provide
evidence of completing study or
acquiring the skills taught at this
level they may be able to apply for RPL.
This can come from education, training
courses or even work experience. As
everyone’s education and work
experience is different these will need to
be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Credit Exemptions are for the Higher
Education programs. If you are
interested in exemptions you may be
eligible to apply based on previous
studies at a Registered Training
Organisation (RTO), University or
overseas institutions that are recognised
by professional bodies.
If Recognised Prior Learning or
Advanced Standing is granted, you will
be exempted from the selected units
of study, this will shorten the length of
your course. An updated Confirmation
of Enrolment (CoE) will be issued
accordingly with the new finish date. So
it is best to apply for credits or advanced
standing when initially applying for
admission with Kent.

Government Loans for Students
Kent is an approved FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP provider. Many of the courses we offer are eligible for
government financial assistance.
FEE-HELP and VET FEE-HELP are the Australian Government’s loan schemes available to help pay for
your course fees. You’ll find information about loan opportunities and how they work through the
government website study assist. www.studyassist.gov.au

Student Testimonials
Kristina Magathova | Slovakia
Advanced Diploma of IT and Bachelor of Business | Sydney campus
“Studying with Kent helped me to better understand the theory behind the course
and I gained valuable experience preparing presentations and developing the ability
to work in a team. Kent’s comprehensive study library made it easy to access to any
resources and information I needed. I’m grateful for the four years I studied at Kent and
the friendly staff really helped to make my time more enjoyable. If you are applying as
a new student, I wish you success as you embark upon your journey at Kent.”
Dona Villasenor | Philippines
Diploma of Business, Sydney Campus
“The best part of my study at Kent is enjoying the company and diversity of my fellow
students whilst improving my knowledge and ability. One of the challenges I had along
the way was to comply with the tasks and assessments given, however, Kent provided
me with effective academic learning support and also, the professors are all helpful. I
highly recommend Kent Institute of Business and Technology to all students who want
to experience a memorable and excellent education.”
Warunya Hongsrichan | Thailand
Diploma of Accounting, Sydney Campus
“I’m currently studying a Diploma in Accounting and I chose this course because I
like accounting and working with numbers. I hope to have my own business. I think
if I have knowledge about basic accounting and taxation, this is an advantage. I find
the teaching staff here so friendly and kind. After I finish studying here, I hope to
get a job and gain some experience before opening my small business. I would like
to recommend everyone to study at Kent. You will get experience, knowledge and
everyone is nice here!”
Yumi Umeyama | Japan

Kent has made the transition easy for me. I am so thankful and happy because my
teachers and classmates are always so helpful. Now Kent has motivated me to pursue
further studies. I appreciate everything Kent has done for me and my experience here
is something that I will never forget.”
