2. WORD FROM THE CHAIRMAN: Sorry I’m running a little late this month, it has been a busy spring. On
the 16th of May we are having our annual lunch/meeting at Mike Linnig’s Restaurant, we sure hope to see you there.
All American week this year looks like it will be the biggest one in several years, and a changed format. No Division
Review on Pike Field, but a full day on Sicily DZ with a JOAX (A big Jump) and a mini Division Review all on
Thursday, May 21st. Then this August the National Convention will be in Orlando, FL, and we will be celebrating
the 75th Anniversary of the Airborne. We are also looking at having a meeting/shooting event this summer or early
fall at Knob Creek Range, if you like this idea let us know.
We awarded 6 JROTC 82nd Airborne Division Association Leadership Awards this year. The schools that
precipitated are McCreary Central High School, Stearns, KY; Rockcastle County High School, Mount Vernon, KY;
Buckhorn High School, Buckhorn, KY; Perry County Central High School, Hazard, KY; Elliott County High
School, Sandy Hook, KY; Wayne County High School, Monticello, KY. We salute all 6 Cadet Winners of this
prestigious Award, and if you know a deserving JROTC program have them contact us about this award.
The Association is still struggling to pay its bills, and membership is way down. We will survive! It’s going to
take a lot of work, and support from the membership. You can find all the information about the Associations
financials, and other information on the Associations Website: http://www.82ndairborneassociation.org/
You can now renew your membership online at: www.kentuckyairborne.org I highly suggest that you visit it. We also
have a link on the site to our quartermaster which is run by www.usmilitarymarketplace.com/82nd-airborne-assockentucky-airborne-chapter/?sort=bestselling, and anything you order on the chapter’s page we get a percentage of. Plus
there are some pretty sharp Chapter shirts, sweatshirts and jackets on there. Support Your Airborne Chapter! I look
forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting!

7. ALL AMERICAN WEEK 2015: If you have not heard already, the schedule for AA W has changed
drastically. The largest change is that instead of a Division Review on Pike Field, this year the Division
will be conducting a Joint Operational Access Demonstration (JOAD) at Sicily Drop Zone, followed
immediately by a Division review where the Division will march in from the Drop Zone. Because the
lOAD/Review will be an all-day event, the Memorial will be moved to Wednesday
afternoon, 20 May 2015. All of these changes are shown on the attached schedule. We are hoping to
have the 82d Airborne Division Commander, MG Richard D. Clarke, as our speaker at the Association
Social on Thursday evening, 21 May 2015. Availability at Moon Hall at the Airborne Inn is filling
quickly. If you are planning on attending AA W, it is important for you to make your reservations
quickly. Remember that reservations for Association members are made with Ms. Monica Wells, and is
only for Association members. Those who are not members will have their reservations cancelled in
order to ensure there are rooms available for Association members. If you have not sent in your
application for AA W, please do so quickly, as registrations must be postmarked by 2 May 2015.
Photos Wanted: For those members who will be attending AA W, Mike Lonetto is making a "Back in
the Day" photo display. If you would like to have a photo displayed of you when you were with the 82d,
you can email them to Mike at [email protected] you can bring them with you and it will be
added. Please include your last name and the year.

14. VETERANS UPDATE:
a. House Steps Closer to Overhauling Retirement, Week of April 27, 2015, Congress has taken the first and
perhaps historic step toward phasing out the 20-year-or-bust retirement system the U.S. military has used to shape
and retain its career forces since the end of World War II. The replacement plan, as endorsed by the House armed
services' personnel subcommittee, is a blended system that would cut by 20 percent the value of future force
annuities in return for an added tool to build nest eggs earlier — 401(k)-like Thrift Savings Plan with government
matching of service member TSP contributions.
b. TRICARE Offers Overseas Program, Week of April 27, 2015, The TRICARE Overseas Program Point of
Contact Program gives beneficiaries access to a live person that will help answer beneficiary questions, concerns
and help them navigate TRICARE while living overseas. An overseas TRICARE POC can (1) help beneficiaries
enroll in a TRICARE plan overseas; (2) file their medical and dental claims; (3) answer questions about coverage
options and benefits; and (4) navigate TRICARE's electronic self-service options. For help locating your POC,
contact your TRICARE Area Office. To learn more about the TRICARE Overseas Program Point of Contact
Program, visit the TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas webpage at

c. Fraternity Closed Over Veteran-Abuse Accusations, Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, Associated Press | Apr 29,
2015, GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Florida closed a fraternity Tuesday after allegations that its
members hurled drunken insults and spat at a group of disabled military veterans at a Panama City Beach resort.
Zeta Beta Tau fraternity's closing, effective immediately, comes a week after the school suspended the fraternity,
which expelled three of its members after finding they had behaved inappropriately. The school previously said it
was charging the fraternity with obscene behavior, public intoxication, theft, causing physical or other harm, and
damage to property. Zeta Beta Tau's Florida chapter has 128 active members. The organization was founded in New
York City in 1898 as a fraternity for Jewish students, who at the time weren't allowed in fraternities. The national
organization agreed to the closure. "We are absolutely disgusted by the accusations that have been made regarding
the behavior of members of this chapter. ZBT has a long history of serving our country, with brothers currently
serving in all ranks of the military," said ZBT Fraternity International President Matthew J. Rubins. The Warrior
Beach group says the frat members were extremely drunk, and were urinating on flags, vomiting off of balconies
and were verbally abusive while the two groups were at the Laketown Wharf Resort last weekend. The veterans
were there for an annual retreat meant to honor their service, and the fraternity had a social function.
d. VA in Tests to Make X-Rays, Other Images Available to Veterans Online, Apr 24, 2015 | by Bryant
Jordan, The Veterans Affairs Department is field testing two new programs to give veterans using VA health care
electronic access to additional records, including X-rays and MRIs. The images would be available for download
via the "Blue Button" feature on the VA's My HealtheVet website, though VA also is working on a way for veterans
to personally transmit the images to another health care provider, including non-VA doctors, when necessary.
"Sometimes the challenge when you have an imaging study done is ... transferring those images to the next consult
-- perhaps it's outside the VA," said Kim M. Nazi, management analyst with the Veterans Health Administration's
office of Informatics and Analytics. Currently, patients have to request the images, which are copied to a CD, she
told Military.com. The VA also is field testing enabling veterans to download and securely transmit a health
summary, again making it easier for a veteran to transfer his or her VA medical information to another doctor,
including outside VA, she said. The Blue Button does not provide veterans with every medical or health record the
VA has on them, however. So a veteran wanting to take a deeper dive -- for example if they planned to file claim
appeal or for a rating increase -- they would need to request copies of everything from their inpatient/outpatient
electronic health record, according to Nazi.
