In partnership with APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION KOHELET YESHIVA KOHELET YESHIVA 223 NORTH HIGHLAND AVENUE / MERION STATION, PA 19066 / 610.667.2020 / WWW.KOHELETYESHIVA.ORG VISIT US AT WWW.KOHELETYESHIVA.ORG KOHELET YESHIVA DEAR STUDENT AND FAMILY, Shalom! We are delighted by your interest in Kohelet as you search for a Jewish high school. On behalf of my colleagues, I invite you to visit us on our beautiful campus in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, and learn more about our dynamic General and Judaic Studies programs. You’ll be impressed by our warm and knowledgeable faculty, by the ruach and menschlikeit of our students, and by our commitment to providing an extraordinary Modern Orthodox education. If you have not already done so, please give me a call to set up your interviews and get your application under way. Interviews must be completed and applications received by January 15, 2015. Late applications will be accepted thereafter only if space permits. I look forward to hearing from you and to getting to know your family. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions about our school or application process. B’vracha, Sharon Baker Director of Admissions ,chah ,kve 1. We invite prospective students to come for one of our Visit Days in November or December. Visit Days are a great way to see our school in action, learn more about our programs, and meet advisors and faculty members. During the course of the visit, we also administer a Judaic Studies screening and a timed writing sample. 2. S tudent and parent interviews with the Director of Admissions and the Head of School are an important and required part of the application process. The interviews give us a chance to get to know families and prospective students and to answer any questions the family may have. 3. Completed and signed Application and Questionnaire forms, along with the $75 non-refundable application fee, must be received by Thursday, January 15, 2015. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space-available basis. 4. O fficial school transcripts, including the current and the previous years’ grades, must be sent directly from the applicant’s current school office to our office by Thursday, January 15, 2015. Please request transcripts from all schools that the applicant attended in the past two years. 5. Recommendations from a current Judaic Studies Teacher, English Teacher, and Math Teacher must be submitted by Thursday, January 15, 2015. 6. We offer the ISEE testing on our campus on December 14, 2014 and January 4, 2015. The ISEE test consists of verbal and mathematical multiple choice sections and a writing sample. Parents will assume the cost of the testing payable to the Educational Records Bureau. Students who score below the 20th percentile in two or more of the four areas reported by the ISEE will require additional evaluation. This may lengthen the admissions process. If the applicant has taken the ERB exam in Middle School, we will accept that score in lieu of the ISEE. We are sorry that we cannot accept any standardized test other than the ISEE and the ERB. 7. For students with identified learning needs, please provide a current IEP or educational assessment, completed within the last two years, with the initial application. Upon completion of all steps of the application process, the Faculty Admissions Decision Committee meets to determine the admission decision for the applicant. Letters will be mailed approximately three weeks after completion of the process. Enrollment packets will be mailed out to accepted students shortly after the decision notification. Completed enrollments and a non-refundable $450 enrollment fee are due back within two weeks of receipt of packet. All incoming students will be required to take placement exams at the end of the year on Sunday, June 7, 2015. For more information about the Kohelet Admissions process, please contact Sharon Baker, Director of Admissions, at 610.667.2020 x3040 or [email protected]. KOHELET. TORAH FOR THE REAL WORLD.
