KPAL March/April Newsletter 2015 - Kings Point Art League

President’s Message
Hello All,
We have two had a very busy two months. January brought our Auction, we
didn’t have a great deal of art supplies to auction, however we were lucky to
have the remainder of Ted Daubresse’s art to auction.
Kings Point Art League
MARCH—APRIL 2015
In the end we made over $1,000, thanks to Bruce Fallender deciding to purchase Ted’s art. Thank you so much Bruce for your generous contribution.
Thanks to Sandy McDermott and her staff for marking and displaying all the
items to auction. Unless we have a great deal of “stuff” come in this year, we
may skip having an auction in 2016.
Our Art Show was a huge success. We should be so proud of all the talent we
have in the League. It is wonderful to share our gifts with the community. I
think some were speechless. I heard one couple say, “Amazing all the talent in
this community”. Taking the time to prepare a show and manage all the logistics is always a job. A very special thanks to Diane Simon, she took the reins
and guided the committees through the process. A job well done and all of you
should pat yourselves on the back.
On March 3rd we (the Art League and SCC Art Club) will host Leoma
Lovegrove presenting “Painting Out Loud”. This is a joint venture, the first in
many years so we hope you will all come. We’ll be selling tickets throughout
the week and at the League meeting. Bring your $5.00 and save the date.
On March 20, 2015 Kings Point does the annual Spring Fling. This year it is
special. On the same day we will be opening the 2020 Centre and have tours
of the newly renovated building and all it has to offer. Maggie Case is in
charge of the Art League’s participation in the Spring Fling. Think of art work
you might want to sell. Bring cards, bookmarks, small paintings, big ones too.
Maggie will be asking for your assistance
So help if you can.
As usual we are busy, but make sure you find time to draw, paint, inspect nature and take a couple of pictures to use as a project.
Enjoy the spring…… It is coming……..

Judges Statement:
Always Alert
Thank you for inviting me to judge this
lovely show. The things I look for
when I’m judging are mastery of composition, drawing, value, color, perspective and presentation. Above and
beyond that, I look for a unique perspective or idea that demonstrates the
personal creativity of the artist. I think
that the award winners demonstrate
these elements. Congratulations to
them and all the participants.
