Since entering the market in 1993, Curtains Up® has
become the premier line of decorative drapery hardware
in North America, serving designers and specialty trade
retailers. We have succeeded in re-creating the past with

The Curtains Up® line has evolved to include an extensive
selection of materials, styles, finishes and accessories.
Designs range from the traditional and historic to the
contemporary and avant-garde. The Cast Metal Collection
consists of cast iron and cast aluminum finials that are
traditional in style, evoking memories of centuries past.
The Forged Iron Collection, with finial designs fabricated
from iron and steel bar, lends itself to contemporary décor,
while still revealing its historic roots. The Bravo Cast
Resin Collection features custom designed finials adapted
from heritage references, cast in polyresin and hand finished
in a variety of elegant antique finishes. Each collection
offers a complementary range of tiebacks, rosettes, steel
rods and rings.
With this catalog we hope to make your product selection

well-designed accessories. In fact, the variety of accessories
available for use with Curtains Up® finials makes our

Curtains Up® is proud to offer Arts & Crafts Designs –
an evocative range of finials and tiebacks that complements the look and feel of the Arts & Crafts movement.
Arts & Crafts design inspires a strong following among
those who are interested in a clean, unadorned look.
Bursting forth in the earliest part of the 20 th century as
a reaction to over-developed Victoriana, Arts & Crafts
manifested itself in many forms in the United States,
Canada and abroad. From the cooperative workshops of
William Morris to the serenity of the Craftsman school,
these designs reflect a return to simpler ideas, honest
craftsmanship and sturdy ornamentation.
The Art Nouveau Flower is perhaps the most recognizable
design in the group. Hand-applied finishes accent the
flowing contours of this finial’s surface. The Mission
design mirrors the hammered hardware often found on
Stickley and other production furniture of this period.
The Ball finial is one of our most popular designs.
Its simplicity makes it universally fitting for all window
treatments, but particularly for this design period.
The Prairie design, in cast resin, is the largest in the
group, elaborating the square shape to produce a truly
elegant architectural form.

The Cast Metal Collection is where Curtains Up®
began. Based on historic iron castings that have been
adapted for use as finials, tiebacks and rosettes, this
collection continues to develop and mature in sophistication. In combination with dozens of accessories,
the cast metal finial designs can be used to achieve
a diversity of window treatments, from the simplest
to the most complex.
These finials, cast in either iron or aluminum, are
specially treated to ensure durability. Most are available
with additional hand finishing in heritage copper
and heritage gold. Style trends run from the rustic
black iron arrows to the lush heritage copper
Fleur de Lys motif. Each has its own place in the
window décor repertoire.

A small hand-finished resin collar forms the core of

Cast iron loop brackets
The loop bracket offers an additional support system
for mounting Curtains Up® rods. Loop brackets for 1”,
1½” and 2” diameter rods are supported by telescopic
posts (sold separately), which are available in two
lengths (brt or brts). Particularly useful when a clean,
adjustable ceiling mount is required, loop brackets and
posts are offered in most finishes.

Fling rods
These simple steel rods measure 40” long, including
the comfortable handle. A small clip attaches the top
end to the first ring on the curtain. This permits easy
movement of the curtain across the rod for opening
and closing. It results in less wear and tear on the
fabric and on the rod and ring system. Fling rods are
available to match most finishes. They are both stylish
and practical.

Wall flanges
For situations requiring rods to be flush-mounted inside
window frames or against walls, the wall flange securely
locks the rod into place. Wall flanges are sold in pairs,
with necessary hardware. Available in most finishes.
Deluxe wall flanges for 1”rods are also available.
End caps
Neat fitting end caps cover the exposed rod opening
when no finial is suitable. This may be by necessity
(no space for a finial) or by choice. End caps are sold
in pairs and finished to match the rod.
Rosettes
The rosette is a decorative means of locking the rod into
the bracket. Rosettes are sold individually, and are often
used by designers independently, in innovative ways,
to very effective ends.

Curtains Up® rods
Curtains Up® rods are made from heavy 18 gauge
steel and finished to coordinate with the finials.
Our rods are stronger than most commonly available
in the industry permitting installations without
intermediate support over longer spans. Standard
lengths are 48”, 96” and 120”. Standard diameters are
½”, 1”, 1½” and 2”. Rods can be connected to form
any length by means of an inner splice. This small
splice (approx. 12”) slides inside the two connecting
rods and holds them in place when mounted into
standard support brackets.
An intermediate support bracket is suggested for
rods 8’ and longer. The number of additional support
brackets will depend on the weight of the treatment,
as well as the length and diameter of the rod.
Rods may be easily cut on site with a hacksaw or a
tube cutter. Caution must be taken when using the
tube cutter so as not to damage the finish with the
compression.

Telescopic rods measuring 48”- 90” are available in
some finishes in ½” and 1” diameters.
Unique plastic plug system
All Bravo finials are manufactured with a strong, threaded screw connection. This screw easily threads into
plastic plugs that securely fit into the ends of the rods.
Measure your rods carefully before tapping the plugs
into place, as they are difficult to remove once inserted.
Plastic plugs ( 2 ) are supplied with all Bravo finial sets
in standard sizes: 1”, 1½” and 2” diameters.

Heavy-duty brackets
The heavy-duty bracket system provides greater strength
for larger diameter rods and heavier drapery treatments.
This sturdy system is composed of 2 parts, a base and an
adjustable arm. Select the base size (choice of 3) according to the rod size and need for strength. The choice of
arms is determined by the rod size and projection required.
As an added bonus, adjustable double brackets are easily
made by adding an additional slotted arm to a heavyduty base support. The double brackets can combine
two rods of the same or different diameters. Heavy-duty
bases and arms are sold separately and are available in
most finishes.

Standard and deluxe rings
Many different sizes, diameters, styles and finishes of
rings are available. Rings are sold in 10-pack bags, in the
following inside diameters: 1”, 1½”, 2” and 2½”. Standard
rings are only available with hanging squeeze clips.
Deluxe rings in four sizes have hanging loops. 1½” deluxe
rings also come with squeeze clips. Not all styles are
available in all finishes. Choose a ring size that is at least
½” larger than the diameter of the rod.
Corner elbows
Adjustable corner elbows allow rods to be mounted at
angles from 90° to 270° or any point in between.
Simple design and heavy-duty construction make these
elbows the easiest solution to bay window treatments.
Available for 1”(25 mm) and 1½”(38 mm) rods.

Flattened rings
Flattened rings are made from flat steel stock and offer
a stylish variation on our standard and deluxe ring designs.
Available in 1” and 1½” inside diameter sizes, in all cast and
forged metal finishes. Sold in 10-pack bags.

Situations, such as bay windows, can be accommodated through the use of standard and custom bends.
Corner elbows or standard bends of 90° and 45° are
available. Custom bends can be ordered to any angle
or configuration. Consult your Curtains Up® representative for advice on your specific requirements.
Double tracking is another possibility for all
Curtains Up® rods. This is easily accomplished
through the use of a traverse (corded) system available
from your hardware supplier. These separate rods can
be attached behind the Curtains Up® rod and connected directly to the ring system. This will permit
right, left or double traverse movement of your
Curtains Up® installation. Consult your installer to
determine the best selection of parts.

Over the years we have seen Curtains Up® components used in innovative and creative ways by

and rods stylishly support wall hangings and tapestries. Rosettes, finials and tassel tiebacks are used to
great effect to decorate furniture, mirrors and walls.
Upholstered headboards in hotels and private homes
are mounted with Curtains Up® rods and finials.

selection of Curtains Up® parts. The possibilities are

Packaging: Curtains Up® products are securely packaged in the most appropriate container, depending on
the size and weight of the item. Most finial sets are
packaged in pairs, in a rigid cardboard box. Poly-bags
are used for some designs, poly-tubes for rods (packed
individually), and poly-bags for rings ( 10 per bag).
Brackets and rosettes are packaged and sold separately.

been made to ensure consistency of finish amongst our products. Different methods
of finish application onto different materials result in some variation of finish.
