Information & news you need to know
Master’s degree in teacher
leadership
You are invited to attend an Open House to learn more
about Seattle Pacific University’s Master of Education
in Teacher Leadership program. This event will take
place on May 8, at 4:30 PM. The location is the LWSD
Resource Center.
The MEd in Teacher Leadership Program at SPU offers
teachers current educational theory, research and
professional practices to enhance not only their
knowledge and skills as they serve their students, but
also provides a foundation of leadership skills to
enhance teacher capabilities in a number of schoolbased roles, from department chair, to instructional
coach.
The unique aspect of this program is that it is cohortbased, offering a combination of online classes as well
as face-to-face courses offered in your own district,
with instructors who are both from the university, but
also your own district teachers and leaders. The
cohort-based program also offers a tuition discount
when a minimum number of 10 students sign up. In
addition, you have the opportunity to use some of the
elective credits as Pro Teach or National Board credits
if this is something you are interested in.

Nominations close May 8
We received this e-mail on Friday and wanted to pass it
on to you.
Each year the members of the LWEA elect a President,
Vice President, and Executive Committee Reps (Primary,
Intermediate, Middle School, High School, Special
Services, Specialists, and Minority) for the following year.
“President Teeley,
Your quote about the Legislature and Boeing's tax
break in the (Kirkland Reporter) article got my attention.
While it wasn't the focus of your issue, you highlighted
some of the inequity involved in the Boeing tax
incentive package. At SPEEA, we appreciate you
making this connection clear and giving this important
issue attention. Perhaps if the jobs bill (HB2147)
passes, members of our two unions and their families
will gain - additional tax dollars for education and
keeping jobs at Boeing in Washington for our engineers
and technical workers.
Congratulations on the important vote your members
took this week. On behalf of the 21,000 engineers,
technical workers and pilots our union represents in the
Puget Sound region, I thank you for your efforts to
improve education in our state. You have our support!”
Thank you,
Ryan Rule
SPEEA President
The nomination period is now open and will close on
