The Lander Art Center is dedicated to making art opportunities accessible to everyone. Scholarships are possible
through grant awards and private donations. Financial assistance is awarded on teh basis of need (financial) or merit
(student passion). One scholarship is available for every youth AND adult class offered. Application is due 1 week
before class starting date.

Abstract Painting
Tuesday - Friday, June 2 - 5
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander Art Center
Instructor: Gena Robinson
Develop a personal approach to painting. Create works
from a variety of subjects, color, line, and texture.
Creativity and imagination are explored through
foundational techniques as well as how to paint with both
expression and intention.

Performance Art
Tuesday - Friday, June 9 - 12
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander Art Center
Instructor: Mati Snodgrass
Students will explore acting and performance skills of
improvisation, mime, and character development. The
week will end with a small show where students can show
off their skills. Performance will take place the last hour of
class on Friday, June 12.

Photo Tech
Tuesday - Friday, June 16 - 19
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander Art Center & outdoor field trips
Instructor: Holly Burns
Learn about photography and art technology for a creative
photo journey! We will use various media to create photo
collages, explore alternative photography processes, and
use computer pads to create unique art. Students will
participate in photo field trips and practice taking photos
with multi-media devices.

Jewelry and Metals
Tuesday - Friday, June 23 - 26
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: LAC 320 Studio
Instructor: Lennie Poitras
Learn to work with copper and other metals, resins and
found objects to make jewelry and other interesting
objects. Learn to rivet things together, wrap your favorite
stones in wire, make “power amulets” and generally have
fun with metal media and new projects.

ArtWonder
Tuesday - Friday, June 23 - 26
4-6pm
Ages: 8 and up
Location: begin at Lander Art Center with field trips
Instructor: Jan Babits & Alli Calvert
Science and art collide! Youth will learn about how
collections were gathered and displayed before museums
existed. Through integrated science concepts of classification,
botany, and geology, youth will create their own natural art
wonders and be a part of an upcoming exhibit, “Wonder
Cabinet,” a display of art and artifacts.

4th of July Float Construction
Tuesday - Friday, June 30 - July 3
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander Art Center
Instructor: Gena Robinson
Create a 4th of July float! Learn to construct a moving
sculpture, flex your creativity, and work together as a team
to create a Lander Art Center float for the 4th of July parade.
Class participants are encouraged to participate in the
parade. Come enjoy the ride and the fun of learning float
construction!

Painted Bird
Tuesday - Friday, July 14 - 17
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: CWC Sinks Canyon Field Station
Instructors: Holly Burns and Alli Calvert
Its all about birds! Youth will learn about birds living in our
area, species diversity, conservation, flight, migration, and
folklore all while creating their own works of bird wonder
on the Sinks Canyon Center grounds. Youth will improve
bird habitat and get to express their own creative voice
inspired by the outdoors using paints and other art medias.

Clay Dwellings
Tuesday - Friday, July 21 - 24
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander City Park
Instructor: Tonya Pepper
This class explores both the art and science of building with
clay and other natural materials. Examine civilizations and
their dwellings in this outdoor art class inspired by artist
Charles Simond. Youth will create clay dwellings as part of
a public art display in the park and for their own outdoor
space.

Play with the human and creature form through
observation and exaggeration. This clay class will
develop skills relating to the figure in relation to
proportion and form. Create and recreate facial features
to add an element of interest and surprise!

Art Adventure Scavenger Hunt
Tuesday - Friday, August 11 - 14
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm

Instructor: Scavenger Hunt Master
In the last of week of summer art class enjoy an art
adventure! This scavenger hunt class will take students
around town in a journey to discover inspiration,
materials and art tools. Participants will also create
maps and clues to help classmates and family find their
own hidden art treasures.

Little One Summer Classes - 6 and under
Fiber Fun
Tuesday - Friday, July 7 - 10
Ages 6-8, 10am – 12 pm
Ages 9 and up, 1 – 3 pm
Location: Lander Art Center
Instructor: Vicky Boemher
Students will explore the world of fiber arts with four
techniques: wet felting, arm knitting, drop spinning, and
cardboard loom weaving. Students will learn how to wet felt
and the skills of arm knitting while making a scarf. Also,
students will make their own drop spindle and spin yarn
from wool roving. Youth will make a loom and learn the
basics of weaving.

Dancer’s Workshop Creative Summer Arts Camp

Ages: Students entering 1st –6th grades
9a.m. – 3p.m.

Instructor: Babs Case
This is a week not to be missed as students explore
creativity and movement with the Dancers’ Workshop. A
final production will take place at Riverfest Art and Music
in the Park on Saturday, August 1. Students should wear
comfortable clothes and bring water and lunch. Students
entering 7th –12th grades are encouraged to apply to be
junior counselors. This camp is in partnership with the
PALS, Promoting Art in Lander Schools.

This class is for our youngest aspiring artists.
Students will experience art, movement, and
storytelling in a fun atmosphere. Child must have a
caregiver present unless otherwise arranged.

Lil Picassos Art Class
2nd Wednesday - June 10, July 8, August 12
4:30 – 5:30pm
Instructor: Jenny Young
Young artists will enjoy this engaging class that will
have them painting, sculpting, and drawing. Students
will use creativity and imagination to express their
thoughts, ideas, and reactions. This class is designed
to foster the uninhibited quality of this age group.
$10 per class or all summer pass $25 (3 classes)
