March 2015
A warm welcome to you all from our Captain - Davie Mortimer
As Club Captain for 2015 I would like to welcome you to Langlands Golf Club. It is an honour for
me to serve as your Captain this year. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and
to play in all the excellent competitions the Match Committee have in store for us.
If you are a visitor to the club today and have enjoyed your round and the friendly hospitality,
then why not consider joining us—we have a fantastic Gents and Ladies Section where you will
be made most welcome. We would also love to have more Junior members—their membership
is free!
NEWS FROM THE COURSE
The course maintenance staff have been busy over the winter
months, despite the challenging weather they have had to cope with
at times. All greens have been cored and top-dressed back in
November, with further verti-draining work being carried out on all
the fairways.
More extensive drainage has been installed on the 9th fairway, 13th
green and in the area between the 7th green and 8th tee. These
areas have always been troublesome so the new drainage should
help see a big improvement. Some wooded areas on the course have
also been pruned & cut back - most noticeable is the work carried out
at the first tee area beside the car park which is certainly looking a lot
tidier!
Finally, every golfer can assist in making sure our course looks its best
at ALL times—please ensure you rake all bunkers, replace divots and
repair pitch marks on the greens. This especially important, and pitch
mark repairers are available from the Starter’s Office free of charge.
Correct repair of pitch marks is vital, the picture opposite shows you
how to do this.
Jackpot Joker
The Jackpot Joker draw returns after his winter break on
Saturday 4th April .The jackpot of £1000 is still to be won, so
make sure you get your tickets every week. It’s still only £1 to
play!
Our Aim :
To make all guests feel

Welcome from the Ladies Captain
Mrs Margaret Stewart
Hello everyone! Now that I have been appointed
Ladies Captain for the 2015-16 season I thought I
should let members know a bit about me. I have
been playing golf since 1979, unfortunately I still
haven't mastered it!
Committee News
We would like to welcome
some new faces to our
committee for the forthcoming
season:
Mrs Linda MacDonald
Mr Michael Leonard
I have also been the Ladies team captain since 2009
& during this time we have twice won the
Strathclyde Ladies Golf League Division . I had a
year as Vice Captain in 2014 and during the year took the opportunity to
learn what the role of Captain involves.
Mr Alan Gilchrist
Mr Martin Dow
Mr Brian Mackinnon
I am looking forward to my year as lady captain and I hope I can do as
good a job as all of my predecessors. Good luck to everyone for the
coming season.
