Language Booster Boot Camp Summer Programming 2015 When Tuesday August 4th – Friday August 14th (9 days) Over the course of the summer many students begin to lose the skills that they worked so hard to develop during the school year. This program is designed specifically as a booster program to reinforce and re-teach core skills in the area of reading and writing before the students return to school in the Fall. No class Saturday or Sunday First come, First served Spaces not held PROGRAM FOCUS Fees Aug 4th – 14th (9 days) LDA Members: $720.00 Non-Members: $810.00 Payment through Post-dated cheque or credit card through PayPal By separate invoice. Students attend 2 hours per day Classes are 1:1 All classes are held at our resource centre Snack provided Within a safe and comfortable learning environment students will work 1:1 with a trained Orton Gillingham tutor for 2 hours each day on key skills for reading including but not limited to: phonological awareness, sound/symbol association, vocabulary development, reading fluency or reading comprehension. Key skills for writing include: basic grammar (including parts of speech), sentence structure, punctuation and paragraph structure. Students need to be able to read at a Grade 3/4 level for the writing component. ADMISSION CRITERIA LDA Halton recognizes that a formal diagnosis is not something all individuals have and therefore we welcome children and youth who are struggling in their academics and social life due to identified or non-identified learning disabilities. Please remember, these programs are designed for individuals with learning disabilities and not other exceptionalities. All applications are screened. Suitable for elementary or secondary students. ***Students must commit to attending all 9, 2 hour sessions. Sorry but we cannot make up missed sessions.
