The Crossville Beer Board met in special session on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at
Crossville City Hall.
Present
5 - Mayor James Mayberry, Mayor Pro-tem Pamala Harris, Council Member
Jesse Kerley, Council Member Danny Wyatt, and Council Member Pete
Souza
Others present were City Manager David Rutherford, City Attorney Will Ridley, City
Clerk Sally Oglesby, Police Chief Rodney Shoap, Major Detective Mark Rosser, Andy
Vaughn, David Simcox, Bruce Wyatt, Steve Franks, Fred Houston, Mike Moser,
Francisco Fuentes, Chief Deputy Bill Ashley, and Ivy Gardner.
Call to Order
Mayor James Mayberry was present and presiding. He called the meeting to order at
5:00 p.m.
Volunteer Gas
On 12/31/14, a citation was issued to Shailesh Babubhai Patel dba Volunteer Market
for the sales of beer to a minor.
Under Section 8-214 and Section 8-218 of the Crossville Municipal Code, the Beer
Board has the option of imposing a fine up to $2,500, suspend, or revoke the beer
license. No record has been found indicating that this business has received
certification under the State Responsible Vendor Act of 2006.
Chief Deputy Bill Ashley from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Dept stated that they
conducted a sting of a number of businesses in the County and included Volunteer
Market without realizing it was located in the City. He reported that the Cumberland
County Beer Board gave all the other establishments a choice of a 90 day
suspension or a fine of $2,500. They all paid the fine.
A motion was made by Mayor Pro-tem Pamala Harris, seconded by Council
Member Jesse Kerley, that the maximum allowable fine of $2,500 be assessed
to Volunteer Gas for violations of the Crossville Beer Code. The motion carried
by the following vote:
