Dashboard Navigation and Premium Sound for your Classic Porsche
Porsche is responding to the growing demand for a built-in
navigation/audio system device for classic sports cars.. It fits
perfectly into the DIN-1 slot that has been used in the sports
cars for decades and is operated by means of two knobs, six
discreetly integrated buttons and a touch-sensitive 3.5-inch
display.
4x45 watts and can be connected either directly to the
loud-speakers or to the original sound system using an optional
adapter cable.
The new navigation radio has been exclusively developed for
Porsche Classic. Radio reception, for instance, has been
optimized for traditional telescoping rod radio antennas. Drivers
have a choice of arrows and two-dimensional or
three-dimensional maps to display the route. The maps are
stored on a microSD card with eight gigabytes of memory and
are updated regularly.
Thanks to the appearance of the black surface and the shape
of the knobs, which are supplied in two authentically styled
versions as standard, the navigation radio blends harmoniously
into the dashboard of classic Porsche models. It bears Porsche
lettering and is suitable for the sports car generations from the
first 911 of the 1960s to the last of the 911 series with air
cooling from the mid-1990s (993 series), including front-engine
and mid-engine models.
The new navigation radio comes with all the key features of
today's systems. In addition to low-interference radio reception
and precise navigation, it has interfaces for a variety of external
music sources that can be controlled from the display.
In the United States, the Porsche Classic navigation radio is in
the final testing stages. Availability and pricing for this market
will be determined upon completion of testing.
A smartphone can be connected via Bluetooth. In addition, the
classic radio not only has a built-in microphone but also comes
with an external microphone. The integrated amplifier delivers

The engine, chassis, brakes, and aerodynamic design of the
Cayman GT4 are configured for maximum driving dynamics
while retaining the versatility and everyday utility that are typical
of the two-seater Porsche coupe. Powered by a 385 hp
3.8-liter flat-six engine derived from the 911 Carrera S engine,
the Cayman GT4 transmits its power through a six-speed
manual transmission with dynamic gearbox mounts. Zero to 60
mph is accomplished in 4.2 seconds; its top track speed is
183 mph. The chassis - which features a 30 mm lower ride
height and a generously sized brake system - consists almost
entirely of components from the 911 GT3.
How EA will translate that into its Real Racing 3 game is
something for gaming enthusiasts to experience. Players can
earn the Cayman GT4 for free and make it a permanent part of
their collection by completing a set of challenges.
Porsche has partnered with video game publisher Electronic
Arts to include the new Porsche Cayman GT4 in EA's update for
its popular mobile game Real Racing 3 in 2015.
Real Racing 3 is a popular free-to-play driving simulation game
that is one of the top downloaded racing games. According to
the ThinkGaming site, which reports game revenue and use,
Real Racing 3 has nearly 600,000 daily active users.
That presents a major platform to boost the debut of the
Cayman GT4, which Porsche officially announced in early
February.
The Cayman GT4 is the first Porsche GT sports car based on
the Cayman and features components of the 911 GT3.
Clocking a lap time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds on the North
Loop of the Nürburgring, the Cayman GT4 earns the same lap
time as the 2011 911 GT3 and positions itself as the new
benchmark atop its market segment.
"The Cayman GT4 clearly demonstrates Porsche's dedication
and passion to continue to promote truly industry-leading
two-door sports cars in the future - sports cars that are
developed at the Motorsport department in Weissach," said a
Porsche spokesman in the official announcement.
